I demand to be eorlingashed since I know I won't have my history before the limit date.
And don't come with the argument "but Wak, you're a mod" because it would be unfair. >: (

If I look at Dali's work for too long I get a blistering headache:urg: But don't worry Wak, I'll be as objective as ever.

Anyways, those that are entering and haven't already, it would probably be a good idea to tell us what painting you are planning on doing just to make sure we're on the same page and don't have to dock any cheap points once the judging comes around (which it will).

You'll need an admin to Eorlinglash you. Other mods can't warn/ban mods.

Admission to the Writer's Group goes to first place just like last time. Or at least, it would seem only fitting. Come on mods, throw the cookie... throw it.

Edit: In other news, I started writing my Invincible Suit story again. I think I did fairly well with the style for the beginning but I can't tell.

I would be infinitely grateful if one of you read and reviewed it. I wish I could offer more than a thank you but I can't.

The link to the story is in my sig.

In paints or oils, the background is typically painted in first (though they do have to keep in mind how it will mesh with the person/animal that may be in it). This is because you can paint over oils a million times and it really makes no difference to the quality of the work, although it is very expensive; oils can cost forty bucks for a little tube.

Your pictures are ink though, and with ink the subject is almost always drawn first for the exact opposite reason; you can't go over or erase ink. Because the tiger and the dragon are the main focus of the picture they are typically done first to better ensure their quality. However, there are a few whacky painters that have no rhyme or reason for the order they work in, so I say he did the tiger first only on an educated guess of the medium.

Meh, Matt won't reply to my PM so I'll just ask publicly as it somewhat affects you all anyway. I wanted to know if you guys wanted me to construct a "Words Often Confused" section to add to the tips section on the front page.

I have this extensive list in my student agenda and thought I would make it more convenient for everyone else so that maybe the Grammar part of the grading won't be as crappy for some people.

Something like that should definitely be in there. The homonym confusion when I was judging was downright shameful at times. I can understand mixing them up on occaison but it was like some writers didn't know the difference.

Only a couple of days left and only two finished entries; are some people going to be needing a slight extension or is the deadline good as is?

Slight extension. Onegai [please]!
But, you know, there's no guarantee I'll get an entry in even if the deadline is a month from now...

Weekends are nice.

I'd say having it due the midnight of the 29th (so we have a full Sunday to write) would be nice.

Visual art is a *****.

I'm a performing arts minor. I don't know who to look for, and whenever I'm refered to a certain artist, I don't like it. So yeah. Mini WWYP 3's prompt should be to write a play. ;)

Just find a picture that matches it.

I just turned my 3 paragraph trainwreck in. Now there can be an official competition... since there can be a loser, and all.

As for school though, I only have two more finals. Woot! This semester though bit my *** in half. I think I got one B, and the rest C's.

It's a paper about the Vampire LARP thing that my roommate does (I had to observe a culture unlike my own). YEAH, I actually went to a meeting. Not based off a piece of art. It's based off of one of the saddest subculture phenomenons ever. Expect a Broom topic in the near future.
