Well, here's my philosophy on the situation.

He's obviously straying away from mentioning Ridley's name, or anything about him. In Brawl he was shown off pretty normally without worry.
It's pulling on our heart-strings for a reason. I mean it's a slow build up

I wish if Ridley were a stage hazard, Sakurai would just say so. Rip it off like a band-aid and get it over with. The irritating thing if he is playable, is that I could easily see Sakurai saving someone as wanted as him as an unlockable or at least really late newcomer reveal. If he is in, we will probably be speculating about it all year until release.
