This makes me wonder if they are changing the aura mechanic entirely. Getting a recovery boost when your losing sounds a bit cheap.

Though that does sound like a fun challenge when fighting against Lucario.

So now when he is at higher % he can recover farther?
This appears to be the case.

I'm liking these changes, they're really making Lucario stand out more now and makes this entire mechanic a whole lot more useful. Maybe I really will reconsider grabbing that heart container now Sakurai.

Interesting to see that his aura now affects how effective his recovery is, rather than just how much damage and knockback his moves cause. Wonder if it will have some sort of interaction with all of his specials other than just his recovery.

"When Lucario has 100% damage, all of his attacks will one-hit KO!"

"He will also have infinite use of extreme speed, which KOs on contact."

*looks at Lucario in Project: M* ...Well that certainly looks familiar. ¦D
Whaaat, what are you talking about? =P
His Aura now affects his recovery?

The people who didn't like his Aura mechanic before are gonna HATE it now.
Well, Lucario was pretty well balanced in Brawl so I can see why people would.

Aura now affects recovery? O_o

Edit: Anybody else think this looks like Project M's aura build up mechanic with the glowing hands.
I think the team is more aware of Project M then people realize. The Skyward Sword level feels like them "one upping" the Skyward Sword stage in Project M. "You have it above Skyloft, well we're going to go into Skyloft."

This is good new in my opinion.

This was a nice way to see the difference in his aura, and
It'll be hard not to see when actually playing. Sakurai wasn't kidding when he said that he'll increase his aura output.

However I hope extreme speed does damage this time, especially considering it's about twice as powerful as quick attack, which does damage here.

Guys Lucario wasn't anything special before anyways. Its not like he's buffing Marth's neutral B... oh wait...

Competetive Lucario mains will now SD the first stock. Always. Inb4 new Lucario exploits.

I got a feeling Lucario isn't the only one getting crazy ridiculous buffs. I mean we got Pit, Bowser, Lucario's got some buffs going. All of the newcomers are looking great so far. DK is supposed to be the best in the game so far. Samus' charge shot is buffed. Link is getting buffs. Peach has some aesthetic changes which hint at buffs. Sonic will most likely get some kill moves which is enough to buff him.

BUFFS!!!! BUFFS FOR EVERYBODY!! this game is going to be great.

I am not so sure as they really could just be referencing the last console Zelda game like project M did. Same inspiration =/= a reference to each other. Same thing with today's POTD- Lucario's Aura emanates from his Paws/hands and they wanted to put a lit visual streak so of course they would be brightest near his paws. I've seen several people overstate Project M's importance to the development team of Smash 4. (I know people are probably going to hate me for saying this, but it is true. They just have similar inspirations and issues that they are trying to balance.)

I remember, several years ago, having the conversation with my younger (at the time 10-year-old) Lucario-loving brother about how, sorry to say, his main is probably getting cut out of the next Smash Bros. because of its apparent (but not actually true) revolving-door system of newcomers. I see these updated Lucario pics and look forward to seeing his reaction upon finding out I was wrong in retrospect. The potential to play through a Smash game again with him as a bonding experience is probably the one reason I'd consider getting a Wii U for this game if K. Rool or Ridley don't make it in...that, or Tropical Freeze being Tropical Freeze.

This should be interesting; it basically doubles down on the urgency of killing Lucario early as racking damage now has a diminished return on your ability to actually score the kill as you buff his recovery, but of course, more powerful kill moves that just kill outright are apathetic to this option so it will have an uneven effect across match-ups.

I would also point out that, from what we've seen, characters seem to hit far harder in smash 4 than in Brawl. It's possible that these Lucario buffs are designed with the premise that a charcter like him would be uniquely affected by a more powerful metagame and needs this help to keep up. I'm certainly very interested to see how it plays out in the final game; Sakurai has done a good job of making Lucario a very interesting reveal.

I've only seen people say that the Smash team has no idea what Project M is. I'm pretty sure they do, but the changes could easily be coincidence.

It's pretty much impossible for them to not know what Project: M is after 3.0 big hype and publicity. lol

Sakurai said DK was really good in one of the daily pics
He may have said a move of his was strong, but that nowhere near equals to him being the best in the game so far.

Heck, that'll never happen anyway. It already seems like Lucario is on his way to being the new Meta-Knight. XD

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that the Steel type Pokémon is flying like Iron Man?

I am happy to see they are actually trying to make him feel not like a shoddy carry-over from Brawl. For me, beyond his Final Smash he was a bit of an eyesore, who clearly could do with a little more development time.

I am looking forward to seeing more.

They probably know of mods, but they might not know of project M as a separate entity. Remember their is a language gap and a small cultural gap because Japan has a more popular video hosting site Nico Nico. Who knows though, maybe an interviewer brought it to sakurai's attention or someone on the dev team has heard of it. Then again, I kinda have a feeling if they had heard of it they would try their hardest NOT to copy those ideas for legal reasons. I stills ay they pull from the same inspirations and mechanics so it is coincidental.
