Actually, in the Direct, Sakurai said explicitly that almost all have a FD version.

Why would this confirm a Direct? Not to be rude I just want to know why you think that

Although I suppose if we get one before release it should be announced soon enough.

Ah, no harm! I just think it's super-duper likely cause we still have around 4 starter vets to show, I see your theory is different than mine, but I believe we need to see Wario, Meta Knight, Ice Climbers, Lucas, and even maybe Ness just cause he usually follows the same pattern as Cpt. Falcon. Time is running out, so I expect them to have a final Smash Direct to explain many 3DS modes and stages, for example: trophy rush and ...well, this stage. Also perhaps a final newcomer with all the remaining starting veterans.
Plus it would sum everything up so far right before 3DS release for anyone who hasn't followed the news too closely. But it would also leave enough time to have all the details in magazines and such.
It's just a theory, no "confirmation" of course, but I really don't think we're just ganna get another veteran sometime this month and then release with less than at least a launch trailer. I dunno, after seeing Hyrule Warriors and stuff I think we really need a final Smash Direct before 3DS release highlighting bosses in Smash Run and stuff, reeeaally try to sell this game, yknow?

As for on-topic, I thought "GAME AND WATCH" when I saw the color palette, but it might just be another costume for D3 and Kirby, as a lot of other characters have old costumes, and that would be the original Kirby game colors on the Gameboy.
