Interesting character request. I must say this is the first time I've heard this one be requested.

Are those willies free? The fish still gives me the willies.
That's two now! Stop doing that! Are those willies free?
It's too bad RARE isn't still with Nintendo anymoreSounds like it's a new mode for fun and giggles. One can hope that is what Masahiro Mah Hero means by his caption for this PotD. Jam-packed? Balloon Fight mode confirmed.
"Sakurai" and "being explicit" is like an oxymoron. For every explicit comment Sakurai makes, there's probably two or three or four vague comments and/or teases from him.The way this comment is written I'm kinda wondering if this is actually some special game mode; it's not like it would be hard to make a Balloon Fight mode with what's already in the game, and it would be a pretty fun minigame probably. I'm not sure the comment really makes any sense if that's not the case actually. It's too bad he wasn't clear about that; he usually is very explicit with what he's announcing.
Thanks. I would've said this but couldn't be bothered to write it out. I was just gonna wait for someone else to figure it out. Glad that didn't take too long. Why are people thinking this is a new mini-game based on Balloon Fight when it's been confirmed on the Smash Bros. Direct back in April that there's a retro styled Balloon Fight stage?
Hope you are aware that Villager's Up Special is based on Balloon Fight.
Therefore, all that's happening on this picture is nothing more than Villagers using their Up Special (and one of them being the fish's dinner) on the Balloon Fight stage.
Why are people thinking this is a new mini-game or anything like that?
Anyway, I'll just laugh.

No offense, but I find it funny when people start over-thinking things and making absurd conclusions that are far away from reality, but at the same time, it is disappointing.

>>>>>Sakurai said:Pic of the day. The all-time classic Balloon Fight returns to the modern age, now playable with four players.
<<<<<Sakurai said:This is only a small piece of this jam-packed game.
Not sure if serious>>>>><<<<<
You people are stupid as ****, it's clearly a balloon fight minigame.
It is too bad. I dare not think more again about the possibilities with this game. It's too bad RARE isn't still with Nintendo anymore
For some reason this makes me want to see a jetpack mode
...Or, it's just filler and everyone is looking too much into it.I wonder why people are saying it's a filler OR questioning why other people think this is a Balloon Fight mini-game.
From the wording I'm sure this is Sakurai showing a Balloon Fight min-game. Yes he likes to troll, but no point at all bringing this back up again, with this wording, if it wasn't an ACTUAL mini-game.
What's that question about?Sakurai said:One piece today.
Revived in the modern world, old classics "Balloon Fight".
4-player game also came possible.
This is not just a few of the game, by a varied anything.
- Detailed description are not made, but I would like a mini game, or new stage?
Exactly. I wonder what else these mods misunderstand and misjudge.I don't think anyone is over-analyzing. The way its worded just makes it seem like there would be a balloon-fight mini game.
He is pretty much saying baloonfight returns and now you can play it with four people.(begin over analyzation) I think its more likely that its a mini-game than a repeat daily-pic since a repeat daily pic has never happened. He calls the game jam-packed right after too. Would he really call the game jam-packed if there weren't a lot of different modes? Nah bro.....
I really didn't have to come up with all of that to see that he's talking about a mini-game.Exactly. I wonder what else these mods misunderstand and misjudge.
Lawl, it'd look kinda pathetic, Villagers spamming Up B and just helplessly falling down half of the time (unless they have a gliding ability of somesort with the balloons... I actually have never seen the move in action...)I be happy if this ended up being an event of some sort. Be like "KO these Balloon Spamming Villagers"
Captain's Log style entry of Big MacHuh ? Why would it be a mini-game ? It's just villagers on the stage using the ballons move, with one of theim being eaten.
I really think there is nothing special with this pic, same as Link ; it's just basically the same outfit with different colors.
We really have a week of filler, but well, after E3, no bog surprise here.
Except... maybe... Falco ?
What did we have before Ike's reveal ?
The Nes/Snes/N64 demos in Brawl came to my mind right when I saw the update.Huh ? Why would it be a mini-game ?
Oh speaking of Balloon Kid....Only a small part of the stage?
Balloon Fight stage confirmed to have the GB version of Balloon Kid too?

Wow, now I seriously want a Alice alternate even if it canonically doesn't make sense.Oh speaking of Balloon Kid....

Villager confirmed to be Sakurai's excuse to include both Balloon Fighter and Balloon Kid Alice in Smash?
Well.... at least their hairstyles are sort of similar..... :T
Probably a coincidence though....
Well it's only a theory, I definitely see this being just a filler pic on the balloon fight stage as a possibility. That said, there are a couple of reasons I thought that the Balloon Fight game being in might actually be the case. First off, while you're right that Sakurai likes to tease, he generally does only regarding "good news" so to speak. Palutena for example was teased during the Nintendo Direct with that Pseudo-Palutena thing and she ended up playable. Things that weren't teased however were any NPC character Sakurai wanted to show off, Wauigi etc., and Smash Run not being an adventure mode. The only questionable tease that potentially could lead to disappointment I can think of is Ridley, and unless he is confirmed as a boss later my point stands. Anyway, the way Sakurai writes "The all-time classic Balloon Fight returns to the modern age, now playable with four players" definitely could be read as him bringing back the actual game, and I really don't think Sakurai would leave it questionable if people possibly would be disappointed in the long run. I think Sakurai would have added a "isn't this stage interesting?" or something at the end to make it clear had that been the case. The other, and in my opinion more convincing reason is the snippet at the end. "This is only a small piece of this jam-packed game." This statement doesn't make a lot of sense if this is really showing off a stage and nothing more. If you are trying to convince someone a fighting game is "jam packed", you don't show them a stage, those are required in even the most bare-bones of fighting games. You show them extra modes or features. The fact that they are Villagers makes sense too. Since the Villager has the Balloon Trip up-special, it is very easy to simply reuse what is already in the game for a mode like this rather than porting or creating a Balloon Fight character model. Again, I'll give you that there is a possibility this ends up nothing, the picture certainly looks like the stage afterall, but I think it is more likely based on context that it is something more. Why are people thinking this is a new mini-game based on Balloon Fight when it's been confirmed on the Smash Bros. Direct back in April that there's a retro styled Balloon Fight stage?
