Metal music is my life,I grew up with bands such as Lamb Of God,Machine Head and Devildriver,My dad got me into Metal by introducing me to the classic greats:Anthrax,(old)Metallica,Van Halen,Slayer and the gods of Heavy Metal Pantera. Since then I've been more and more interested into Metal. After growing up listening to Groove Metal,I started getting into Metalcore bands such as As I Lay Dying,It Dies Today,Atreyu and Bleeding Through. Those bands and that style of Metal changed me and lead me to listening to Death Metal,Deathcore and Grindcore. I hate the fact that kids think they're so hard and try to get into brutal ****,stick to your Oli Sykes, kids. In ending to this brutal statement, all you brutal brawlers out there appreciating Metal of all kinds, stay brutal :)

Pretty much.

A friend showed me one of his songs, and initially, I thought it was bad.

Then he showed me the part where it blasted "DISRESPECT YOUR SURROUNDINGS DERP DERP DURRRR".
Then I thought it was even worse.

...It's physically impossible to disrespect your surroundings anyway.

Perhaps you have heard of a literary technique called "figurative speech"

BrutalXSpawn your story of how you got into metal is pretty much identical to mine.My dad showed me Metallica and I was hooked from then.

Pantera are my favourite band ever so props for the "God's of heavy metal" title you gave them.

I think every band you listed in your 1st post are bands that I regularly listen to.

Awwww man.

I cried my eyes out the night he died.Listened to all the albums through.Cemetary gates got to me........

He was my hero and still is.

I reckon Pantera live would just melt faces.I talked to a guy at a Slayer gig who saw them and said he has NEVER been to a gig as good.

Most metal bands don't write their lyrics to turn their fans into frenzied rioters.

Some people are just idiots and take things too seriously.

I mean there are a lot of rap songs that talk about shooting fools and having sex with *****es and whatnot. But no one really does it.(apart from the sex with *****es part...that's fine.)

There are really depressing songs with suicidal lyrics, but not everyone goes round killing themselves after listening to them.

Its a few individuals that take the meaning of offensive/violent/whatever lyrics too far.

Sadly one Sunday, I waited and waited
With flowers in my arms, for the grief I'd created
I waited 'til dreams like my heart were all broken
The flowers were all dead and the words were unspoken
The grief that I knew was beyond all consoling
The beat of my heart was a bell that was tolling
Saddest of Sundays

Then came the Sunday when you came to find me
They brought me to church and I left you behind me
My eyes would not see what I wanted to love me
The earth and the flowers of the lover above me
The bell tolled for me and the wind whispered 'never'
But you I have loved and I bless you forever
Last of all Sundays

You dead yet?

Why speak of violence in the first place anyway?

And, if I recall, Metal is the genre with most violent crimes surrounding it.
