@m@v- MK is one of the best characters at punishing lucario's Fsmash... on whiff you can just dash grab dash attack him. and if it's not properly spaced you can usually tilt him. the safety of it overall depends on his % damage tho

@Anti- you auto-lost the 2nd match IMO because you got killed by force palm flame. lmfao

@kassandra- I know, he gets nerfed when winning or at low% though : (

@sync- Lucario IS evil.

Hi everyone. I'm going to give my general opinion of the match up:

From my point of view, against Lucario, the best thing to do it's to play aggresive, and be ready for his "Falling Jump" with D-Air and pivot F-Smashes and grabs. The best weapons you have as Meta Knight to space-out Lucario are F-Tilt, D-Tilt and F-Air. You have to keep the pressure on Lucario at all times, if you camp you're just giving Lucario time to charge his Aura Sphere, and the more damage he has, the stronger he's attacks are, so be careful.

Lucario is really weak in the air against Meta Knight, if you can evade or bait that D-Air, Lucario it's just another "Snake" in the air, bait the airdodges, and watch out for surprise D-Airs and falling N-Airs/F-Airs.

Your goal is to get Lucario off the stage, his Up-B recovery doesn't make damage, so you can N-Air his Up-B or do a reverse Shuttle Loop, Lucario most of the time will F-Air/D-Air if you're in front of him/below him in the air, or will simply airdodge, make sure to cut those options with a U-Air+N-Air (airdodges and F-Airs) or bait the D-Air/Airdoge and hit him with a Shuttle Loop.

Tornado isn't that great against Lucario, unless you're next to him and his shield is weak, otherwise it's a free pivot F-Smash/Aura Sphere (When Lucarios is below 10% non-charged aura spheres DO NOT beat the tornado, but after 10% they do, and Charged Aura spheres always beat the Tornado) so be careful with Tornado, because it can make the match up MUCH easier for Lucario if you don't use it correctly.

Lucario MOST of the time will D-Air after you get him on the air (with a dash attack or a F-Air/F-Tilt for example) or when he's above you, you can beat that with a grounded Shuttle Loop ONLY when he's "diagonally" right/left UP from Meta Knight, when he's DIRECTLY above you, D-Air will beat the grounded Shuttle Loop.

Don't try to punish Lucario's Pivot F-Smash when you shield it (if he spaces it correctly at a medium distance, if not, it's a free shield grab), Lucario WILL react before you, frame wisely. The best you can do it's to wait for him to react first, and then act accordingly. Most of the time, he will, F-Smash again, Dodge or Shield, if he F-Smashes again you can run and Spotdodge the F-Smash and then Grab or F-Tilt/D-Smash to punish him. If he spotdodges you can Dash attack, or F-Air. And if he shields you can do a dash grab, but be careful of the spotdodge mix up, in that case, you can roll forward and then grab, or roll forward twice (towards Lucario) and then Grab/D-Smash to catch him off guard.

DO NOT Glide back at the stage in a obvious pattern (towards Lucario, horizontally towards the stage), you're very vulnerable to Lucario's Aura Shere in this position, so be careful. To get back to the stage, just glide down to the bottom of the stage, and then do a Dimensional Cape (Down B) to the edge, or a Drill Rush (Side B) (not to far of the stage, otherwise Lucario can Aura Sphere you).

Lucario can be pretty hard to kill if he's on the stage, and has a high % of damage (which allows Lucario to hit extremely hard in damage and knockback) so what I like to do, it's to:

1st: Be careful about random F-Smashes and charged Aura Spheres, at 120-140% one of those will kill Meta Knight at ridiculous %'s of damage (if :metaknight: is on the range of 90-100% is a guaranteed kill with a charged Aura Sphere or a F-Smash). Make sure to block/dodge/jump the Aura Spheres and DON'T try to punish a well spaced F-Smash from Lucario, because, he will F-Smash/Force Palm again and kill you if you try to grab/dash attack him, if you spotdodge the F-Smash, or if Lucario doesn't space it properly (Medium distance, a little bit more than F-Tilt range is the proper spacing, if you can grab/D-Smash him then he didn't spaced it properly) it you can punish it, otherwise, just wait for his second F-Smash/defensive reaction, and then punish, it's better most of the time. Don't give out Lucario F-Smash kills.

2nd: Bait Lucario to jump in the air, if Lucario is going to F-Air or N-Air, the best option is to do a grounded Shuttle Loop, so the invencibility frames will cover you, or bait a D-Air from above and then U-Tilt (great option if the Lucario loves to D-Air). Also, spotdodging a F-Smash to get the D-Smash/UpB are good choices too.

3rd: Don't camp Lucario, he will ALWAYS hit you with atleast one Aura Sphere, and most of the time, that one Aura Shere will kill you. Or he will jump and U-Air (really powerful if Lucario is on the range of 110-140% and will kill :metaknight: after 100%) you if you're D-Air camping.

This match is great "summarize" of how to play the match up, make sure to watch it and take notes while doing it. It's really important to take notes of HOW Anti edgeguards Trela, that reverse Shuttle Loop is something you have to master in this match up, it's extremely effective against Lucario's recovery:

youd be surprised by the amount of combos lucario has on mk
not if MK DIs properly at all. Lucario is asking for trouble if he's going for too many follow ups on MK, especially if he like... uses his DJ in a string then gets shuttle looped offstage.
