I plan to continue doing so until I'm confident in my abilities in singles

Doubles and Singles don't have a lot to do with each other.

I wasn't very good at singles for a while but doubles made sense to me. That and the chemistry between Evan and I is pretty great so don't let your singles ability influence your decision on entering doubles.

Unfortunately, I'm awful at doubles and I not only have difficulty focusing on everything going, but I don't really understand the doubles metagame very well.

Because of that, I'll put time and effort into it at a later time. I'm still learning a lot about this game, so I want to be secure in my basic 1v1 knowledge before I worry about 2v2s

I still find 2v2s in friendlies really fun, I just hate disappointing my teammates. I want my failure to be on my shoulders, only.

^I agree whole heartedly, doubles plays far differently from singles

Especially considering all the possible matchups, for example, having to face off against the formidable DOCTOR MARIO/ICE CLIMBERS TEAM. Truly a force to be reckoned with.
