Mega Man is not in Brawl!

During a question/answer session in the latest Bionic Commando podcast, Keiji Inafune lets us know that Mega Man isn’t in Brawl. His answer is pretty fun, and includes a little teasing throughout.

Well, I really do love Super Smash Brothers. It’s a great series…but, Nintendo hasn’t asked me yet if they can use Mega Man in their game. I’m still waiting…we have a little bit of time left, it’s not coming out for another few months. They might get around to asking us if we’d like to put Mega Man in Super Smash Brothers. Maybe if somebody from Nintendo is listening to this podcast, they’ll give me a call.

I hope he's intentionally lying about Megaman, but if not, that really sucks. I was rooting for him.

When did he mentiond putting in more 3rd party characters? I know he said there will be 1-2 third partys excluding snake but he never said hes adding more then what we have now.

Pretty much.

I mean, either this podcast was old and just uploaded recently, or Sakurai has a poor gauge of time. I would hardly consider just a lil bit more than a month before the JP release "a couple of months left".

Besides, like some one else said, this was pretty much exactly the same thing that happened with Sonic a matter of months ago. Not to mention that Rockman himself was a pretty noted request on the JP poll.

Smash Bros. X. The drama behind this one game could probably be enough to be conveyed in a CBS mini-series.

Characters for any game are considered before production starts.
Kenji Inafune would've been asked well over a year ago.

I hope Inafune was just saying all of that as a cover up. I thought Sakurai could atleast contact Inafune about it because Mega Man was in the blog after all. And I did heard from somewhere that Inafune and Sakurai are friends (of course this is just a rumor I guess, but it's possible!). I can't really imagine Sakurai ignoring Capcom unless he really thinks 2 3rd parties are enough.

But if Mega Man doesn't get in, SSBB will still be GOTY 08 (Game of the Year 2008 for those who don't know) even if it means I'd be slightly disappointed.

This is just all of my opinion though.

Aww, poor Blue Bomber. He would've fit in so well in Smash. Didn't Nya also say Mega Man was out?

Hopefully the delay helped his chances a little bit...though I doubt it. Better off anyway, I'd rather Geno take up a third party spot than Mega Man.
