Okay there guys, I'm having a bit of trouble doing my homework for some reasons. In philosophy class, we've watched the Matrix and then had to complete a few sheets. I understand the concept and can relate it to real life a lot. Problem is, there are some characters I just can't clearly describe with a comparison. I don't know why, but that's the way it is.

Anyway, Neo, Smith, Mouse and Cypher were already described (I did it, obviously... And I'd like you to help me out on:

- Trinity
- Morpheus
- The Oracle
- The Monk-wannbe Kid that taught Neo how to bend a spoon.

And also, the next page is quite annoying to do.
I've got to write up a bunch of questions regarding a few points relating to the movie itself. I've already written a question for: Human nature and Metaphysics.

.:Human nature: Does mankind really need its own misery to live?

.:Metaphysics: Could a fake reality like the Matrix be a real reality too?

As for the rest, we've got:
- Ethics
- Policits and Social Philosophy
- Epistemology
- Logics and Philosophy of Sciences
- Aesthetics

I ask for your guidance. Despite being the guy that has the best reasoning skills and the most developed philosophy amongst my classmates (most of them are dumbf*cks anyway)... I can't seem to do the homework.

Thanks in advance.

Are you asking us to do your homework?
Basically, yeah. :(
I've done all the other 8 pages, but these 2 parts of that last page is giving me a bit of trouble.
Hope you'll be able to help me out, and sorry for taking advantage of you.

Morpheus: He seems to understand the matrix more than the other humans. He is the captain of the Nebuchadnezzar and has spent his life searching for the One. He is also a bada**.

Trinity: She loves Neo and saves him from dying. She is somewhat tomboyish and is can fight alongside the other humans.

The oracle: She has special psychic-like powers, knows the future, and can tell who is the One.

The monk kid: He has somehow learned about the Matrix and has a better understanding of it than Neo did at the time. He is a Uri Geller wannabe.

Thanks a lot XD. Problem is, it gets deeper than that.
I've got to describe them and explain how it relates to real life people/concepts.

i.e: Neo is the image of good itself. He's like an angel, Jesus or whatever people consider to be the at the extreme light. He's like a revolutionary, a man who rebels against the System of our day.

I'll write them down though, thanks :).

I'm not going to do your homework for you (sorry), but I may be able to offer some suggestions. (Translation: I'm here to avoid that political argument thread.)

Look up the mythological background to some of their names.

Morpheus is named after the Greek god of dreams, who is said to appear in people's dreams. In the Matrix, he's the leader of the group, and he leads people out of the dream/delusion that is the Matrix.

Trinity means "three." It has religious connotations, and the Matrix is a trilogy. She never wavers in her faith in Neo or the prophecy; she fights for a cause with undying loyalty.

For the Oracle, just look up the role of oracles and prophetesses in Greek mythology. Also, you know about tarot card readers and those psychic hotlines? Think about why people call those hotlines and what they get from the experience.

For the monk kid, look up either the wise innocent or the idiot savant archetype, or instances where children were selected to become spiritual leaders, such as the early biography of the 14th Dalai Lama. Consider why youth is associated with innocence, which is associated with wisdom, and why children are thought by some people to be more "in tune" to spiritual things. Consider what it means to be "corrupted."

For the rest, you are on your own. The political aspect is blatantly obvious.

Edit: I also presume you're smart enough to rephrase things in your own words, just in case your teacher is web savvy.

Thanks a lot. :)
I guess I was pretty selfish <__>. Apologies to anybody who's visited this thread so far.

I guess that'll be a lot of research, ****. I really hate being so full of homework, kills me.

You can always give out answers if you want to though =).

EDIT: Thanks a lot, Nino. In like 5 minutes, I was done with the character analysis ;).
As for the political aspect and questions, I'll admit I didn't work on it a lot. I was focusing too much on my exam preparations.
