deku, you better be there man.

Wario, get your butt to the tourney. You know how often I practice? hardly ever. And I don't have really anyone good to practice against cept for at these tourneys. So you better make it!

Echo, heck yeah I'm going. We should do crazy amounts of friendlies again.

Zig, I love Sunday tourneys.

See everyone there around noon or so.

So...I had no idea that this was finals week. Oops. Sorry about that. Hopefully it doesn't hurt the amount of people that are coming too much for you guys that are coming from a significant distance. As far as you guys that can't come due to school stuff, good luck on your exams.

And for future reference, we love Sunday tournments. Mostly cause Saturday has enough tournaments already (Yugioh, Pokemon, Magic, World of Warcraft TCG...lots of peoples in here on saturdays).

Tourneybee seems to be a dead thread as of now.

Zig-zag, I hope you hadn't found a partner yet, 'cos I think I'm definitely coming to this now.

Can anyone hook me up with a housing deal from Saturday and possibly Sunday, as well as a ride from the nearest St Louis metra or megabus stop?

Yeah, it's finals week next week for me, but I have been waiting far too long for a Smash Tourny around St. Louis, so I'll definitely be there!

Oh yeah, since this is my first tourny, I don't know all the lingo, so what exactly is included in a "setup?" And what time should I be there?

I might be taking a Megabus to get down here. It's not an easy trip for me, considering I'm taking Metra-rail to get to Chicago and out of Chicago.

This is basically my only option so far with Megabus:

Megabus, from Chicago -> St Louis:
Departs Saturday at 12 midnight, arrives 530am on Sunday.

Megabus, from St Louis -> Chicago:
Departs Sunday at 12 midnight, arrives 530 am on Monday

1. Is there anyone willing and able to pick me up from the St Louis bus terminal and provide a few hours of housing at that time? (Geno? Muba?)

2. Is there anyone willing and able to drive me back to the St Louis bus terminal by 1130pm on Sunday night? Earlier is fine, but that's the latest I can arrive to catch the Megabus back to Chicago.

3. If I DON'T take the Megabus down, but instead carpool somehow, is anyone willing and able to house myself and whomever I carpool'd down with for Saturday night only?

Thanks!
Mike

I can probably house you if nobody else can. (I have an extra mattress and a sleeping bag). There's like nothing to do at my apartment though, so you'd better have a DS or something. I don't know if I'd be able to pick anybody up at the terminal, but if you just need a place to crash it shouldn't be a problem.

In case you're wondering, the "terminal" for megabus is just the front of Union Station. And if you arent from st.louis, union station isnt really a bus station, its a novelty mall.

Also, I definately will team with you, jazz. And there BETTER be doubles considering people are coming from nebraska and northern illinois to come to this.

Well, I wouldn't blame you guys, but if I remember correctly, you came to the tournament at Dragon King last year and there was even less info posted about that one.

Edit: Actually if you look on the first page it says they scheduled Doubles to start at 7:30 PM. I live half an hour away and that seems late, even to me. The owners are pretty flexible about the schedules so I'm sure they'd be willing to have Doubles first, if that's what everybody wants.

To B&B: any chance we can start Doubles at like 1 PM and Singles at 4 PM or something?

I dont know who is in charge of this, but I think it would be really good to have doubles first, like most tournies. Also, start the tourny at 1 at the latest.

yeah start singles at 730i think i can make it then...
idk bout that, im very sure we would have to start singles as soon as we got done with doubles. is there any reason why we are starting sign ups at 1pm thats way too late. if we could start this any sooner im pretty sure it could be a bit beneficial for singles getting done earlier...>.>

So...are more people interested in having doubles or singles? Cause this is the first time we are even scheduling a doubles tournament, before we only had singles? With this many people, we might have to start having them sooner in the day. It's too late to change for this time, but I'll definitely keep it mind for next time. Sorry I don't post more, but I get kinda busy and usually can only check it once a day or so when I'm working. It's too late to change our schedule as far as when single/doubles are gonna be, but we can always change it up next time. I always thought singles play was bigger than doubles play myself...

I dont understand the schedule, but both can be done in that amount of time if we have enough setups and its run smoothly. Shouldn't be brain surgery by no means. And if at all possible, doubles should DEFINATELY be first. Its a good warm up, and its faster. And if anything, singles are a MUST, so it makes the probablity that both happen much higher.

Shoot. It's a miracle that I'm actually coming to a tournament. Too bad there isn't enough time. But we should DEFINETLY get doubles and singles. Sounds like there won't be too much time for friendlies.

It looks like I've got a go on being able to come down with Kami. I should have the money for singles, depending on how much I get from my dad to get food, but I won't be entering doubles so I hope I can play some of ya in friendlies.

I do agree with starting earlier next time. Doubles tournaments are pretty much standard at all tournaments.

Jazz, I can prolly house you Saturday night, but someone would have to bring you to my place, or i can pick you up around 9ish, (when i get off work). I have smash in the room where you will be staying if you decide too, so you can either play that or watch me do HW..... but when I do finish my HW i'd be up for playing some :)

And Echo. Id love to play some friendlies with you :)..... that is.... if their is time for that. You play samus right? I could use practice against my worst match up.

Sorry guys, I can't make this anymore.

North-South travel from where I am is really tough, since getting into and out of Chicago isn't easy
aww....:(
well if some strange reason you are able to make it. My cell is 314-413-1251. Im sure I could at least house you Saturday night.

If any of you out-of-staters know how to work the Tournament Maker or TIO programs, that would help a lot. We had some problems last time putting people into brackets.

Lixivium, will you have a computer available? I know how to run tournament maker. I'll bring it on my friends jump drive. Anyways i'll try to make it at 11:30

ECHO-We need a lot of friendlies to make up for glenwood. I'll get a noose wrap it around your neck and drag you to a set up. Plus we have a 5 dollar iron man.

Question for you frequent tourney-goers:

What percent of the pot usually goes to the venue? I think it's 30% right?

I'm sure we could talk the B&B people into having a Doubles tournament too (more money for them), as long as people show up on time and things to smoothly.

Once again, if any out-of-staters can't get housing from Geno or Toga/Quip, I have an extra mattress and sleeping bag at my apartment. No rides, food, or entertainment provided, just a place to crash.

Kamikaze Falco:

There are computers at the venue, if you could just bring the software. Unfortunately I can't get Tournament Maker or TIO to work on my laptop for some reason, so that's not going to work.

if you give 30% to the venue... you're not going to have anything to give out for winning.
