I seem to always have trouble with Marth's dancing blade recovery.

As I continue to issue the commands, he never moves forward. Instead, he stays in place (this is in FD).

How should I do it?

Funny, I thought it was called "Double Edged Dance." I know I'm wrong though.

What you should do is jam that input in twice (two slices not the whole combo) and then do Dolphin Blade to recover. Then again, it could be just that you have a glitchy controller.

It's called that, but I like calling it "Dancing Blade."

Wow, that's it? I thought it was more complex than that. Thanks.

No problem sis or bro. Even the Smash Elite need help with the basics every now and then. (especially when you use that stupid Wii Remote for a certain amount of time; it interfers with your skills with the Gamecube controller)

You'll recover if someone isn't trying to attempt to spike you, the your best bet is to try to take him into oblivion with you. You'll also be in a pickle if the person that you are facing clings on the edge.

Remember to use DI to try to fakeout edge-guarding opponents so they don't spike you when you recover.

By the way it is called the Dancing Blade. Roy's side b is called the double edge dance. They're different, that's why the have different knockback! The side B only pushes you foward one time and then you have to land to get the floaty B back. Just use the first slash of the side be and stop the combo. Save you're second jump until you actually must use it in case you get hit away from the stage (it's also good to recover from lower and take advantage of Marth's vertical recovery.)

I hope you didn't mean the first two attacks of the dancing blade. You should only do the first attack, because thats the only one that gives you height.

Marth's side-b helps him recover a lot just once, and then you can you it two or three more times and it will help your horizontal recovery a very small amount. It's also the best aerial dodge move in the game IMO. Landing on the ground (take note: this doesn't include getting hit, or grabbing the edge. The rules of the up-b do not apply here) reloads the "floaty side-b".

Not true--landing on the ground and not getting hit are not sufficient conditions for reloading the floaty over-B.

Ya I've read your thread. I posted on it too. The info I got from your thread was the basis for my answer. I suppose I should have specified "landing animation" and mentioned that you can't reload the side-B by landing with an L-cancelled aerial or a tech or something of the like. I'm assuming that's what you mean I was wrong about.

PS: The way you worded your sentence it kind of looks like you thought I meant that you must land without getting hit. Just in case that's what you thought, I didn't mean to imply that you must land without getting hit.

Marth's up-B is dolphin slash. His regular B is shieldbreaker. His side-B is dancing blade.

Finnaly someone gets the names right. It may not be that important to you guys, but it always bugs me when people talk about something without knowing its name. A Marth main should know as many names for Marth's moves as given.

Dragonslayer FTW

Yeah you have to actually land (with the actual landing animation) to get the floaty B back. Also if you're rising while you do the side B it'll actually cancle the rise so be careful not to use it right after your second jump. You really shouldn't use your second jump that early anyway.
