Marth the best?

I was just thinking how Marth may be the best in the game, because both M2K and Ken, the best at some point in time, use him. Any thoughts?

As much as I'd like to agree with you, tiers do exist. Fox, Falco, Shiek, and Peach are higher than Marth for a reason. Marth doesn't make Ken and M2K great, they are great already. Sorry, even as a Marth main, I disagree with you.

First, Peach is not higher than Marth. Also, M2K used to use Fox and did not own as well. Ken's Fox is not a good as his Marth. Fox may be better theoretically (played perfectly), but among humans, Marth seems to be better. Those who do play Fox now lose to Marth due to chaingrabbing, among other things. While Fox "can" perform infinites, they don't work on humans very well. Chaingrabbing does.

i do agree with you Nintendo_lord but also i think that list not accurate, i would say marth should be top 3 or maybe 2nd, fox #1 ofcourse.

a lot of high level players use him, but that does not make him a more amazing charecter then what he is, kinda like how we do not put into consideration like 50% of people play fox.

Id rank him either 3rd or 4th the main reason is beacause the space animals are very good with they're speed and they're shine and sheik is slighty better if not the same against other character matchups.

Marth , Fox, Sheik are the top three characters of the game.

The order is a bit less important they are all extremely close in HUMAN potential.

Sheik isn't really better vs. other characters. Let's take a look:

Fox

Marth: About even

Sheik: In Fox' favor. A bit difficult for sheik

Falco

Marth: Slightly in Marth's favor

Sheik: Falco is really hard for sheik, harder than fox. Lasers, shine, amazing combos, it's hard.

Peach

Marth: ***** her

Sheik: Good for sheik, but I'm pretty sure Marth is better agains Peach

C. Falcon

Marth: Slightly in Falcon's favor I think. Falcon can combo Marth to hell and pretty much destroy him if he gets a hit, but he has no safe approaches and gets ***** off stage.

Sheik: As far as I know, It's good for Sheik. She can do lots of stuff out of dthrow, especially since Falcon's tech roll is so slow, she can edgeguard him really safely because her dsmash covers the sweetspot, I think she can combo him pretty well.

So you see, vs. the majority of the other top characters, Marth does better overall.

Its very hard for me to put fox at #1 (or falco for that matter) due to the predictability of their up-B's. Sheik and marth **** space animals on the edge hard with, and sheik's difficult to shine spike (or spike period unless combo'd). As far as individual matchups, its hard for me to say. definitely depends on the level. Although i'd say fox (and falco imo) has an overall better character than marth, marth has the advantage in a 1v1 due to the chaingrabbing and tilt combos (i know fox and falco's combo abilities are insane, but the shear length of marth's grab puts him ahead for me). Sheik vs marth, slightly in sheiks favor. Sheik vs space animals.. close. I would have to say 1. Sheik 2. Fox 3. Falco 4. Marth. And i take into account the fact that fox (imo) is a much harder character to master than sheik.. using fox to all of his potential would take so much tech skill that it seems humanly impossible. If everyone had perfect control, different story. oh well, my 2 cents.

EDIT: just thought i'd add that these 4 are so close that if it were up to me, they would all be top tier.

If using Fox to his fullest potential were humanly possible, then he deserves the number one spot. However, Marth can be used to his fullest potential by humans, and seems to do better than other characters, despite his weaknesses. That's why I believe Marth to be the best.

Marth can definitely be number one its controversial and like I said they are all very very close in human potential.

BTW all of the top tiers can edgeguard each other quite well.

Marth is probably the best of them in terms of edgeguarding at least.

But they all have sumthin against each other.

Ace8 - all of them can be edgeguarded against and their recoveries are all pretty predictable.

Sheik's is really predictable actually all you do is hold the edge and wait for them to go onto the stage then you knock them off again and you just repeat this til they die.

Watch m2k he does a tons of gay things like that.

Marth of course can be light shield hogged.

Falco is a really good character but I think he is 4th and if you notice not many players play falco anymore.

At pound there were like 5 falcos i played... out of like 240 people.... LOL

Of course all of them can be edgeguarded against, and yes they are all fairly predictable. Like i said, they are all so close i myself consider them all on the same page as top tier (just my opinion). However, when trying to discuss the differences between these 4, i doubt speaking in generalities will get us anywhere. It was my aim to point out who was the MOST vulnerable during recovery. Sheik and Marth have much better edge game than space animals, imo. And i've seen literally tons of m2k vids, i know exactly what you're talking about and you have a point. Speaking of m2k, he also considers sheik #1.
