Before anyone else makes up a false translation, here's my basic take on this picture.

Scan from Ike's Move History (from the Famitsu booklet):
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c283/fallingstarlane/ike_hist.jpg

*gasp* Marth in the bottom right?! What does it say?

Japanese Text: 「曉の女神」にもカウンターというスキルが登場しますが、「スマブラDX」のカウンターをお見せしたほうがいいですよね?

Basic Translation: The Counter skill appeared in "Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn," but it's good enough to show its usage from SSBM, right?

Again, nothing too conclusive. Seems as if Sakurai's almost taunting the Marth fans.
That truely is evil. Though it's odd, because counter has been in a lot of Fire Emblem games, not just FE10. HMMM

By "hidden," I'm referring to the characters being hidden until they are on the dojo, not unlockables.
Ah, I understand now.

Also, we ALL know that Sakurai isn't going to give us an update on the dojo saying "Ness isn't coming back." It'd actually suck pretty bad if he did, I don't think anyone would be very happy. The few lines he's given us IMO have been pretty clear, but since we over-analyze everything, the lines have been somewhat blurred.
Right, and I never said that I was expecting a DOJO! update to confirm that Ness may not be returning. However, I *would* expect Sakurai to say simply, "There's been a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now, and he will not return in Brawl." History shows that he's been no less direct about confirming that certain things will not be present in Brawl, such as playable assist trophies, so why be so vague now?

That said, it does absolutely no harm to the dojo for Famitsu to reference characters that are being taken out. The dojo isn't going to flat out say it, so this will likely be the clearest we'll get before release.
No, the clearest we can get before release is an outright confirmation that Ness, Marth, and Roy are not in Brawl - none of these vague, speculative, non-informative statements that force us to draw our conclusions. We didn't receive any hints to Sheik's inclusion, they just revealed her - with photographic evidence, to boot. I'd expect Famitsu to be just as upfront with confirming excluded veterans.

As I already mentioned, it's a little crazy to think Famitsu announced 4 Brawl characters in one booklet, which IS what they did assuming Marth/Roy/Ness are back.
Famitsu will not have confirmed those three having returned any more than the DOJO!! did by mentioning Ness twice in Lucas updates. Did we find out that Hyrule Temple was returning from the New Pork City, in which a reference was made to it?

If Sakurai is keeping them, they'll be on the dojo tomorrow and the rest of this week, otherwise we're just dreaming.
Says who? Sakurai didn't post the entire Melee roster prior to the Japanese release, after all. Who's to say that Sakurai won't continue updating the DOJO! after Brawl is out and eventually post the profiles of all three characters (assuming they all return)?

Seems to me like you're reading way too far into insignificant details.

Sakurai ruined Brawl because a broken character in Melee was scrapped?

You guys are pathetic...

Similar to what I've said above, those who think Marth, a 'semi-broken character overall' in Melee is NEEDED in Brawl just explains how shallow you Smashers are.

Oh please. Just because you can't beat a decent player doesn't mean you can make assumptions as to why people want him back. There are characters that are far more broken than Marth (although Marth is more noob-friendly).

I wouldn't care if he was nerfed a bit and brought down to a more balanced level. I don't want them to do a SSB64->SSBM Kirby nerf on his ***, but a nerf would be fine, as long as they keep him. Some people play Marth because he's fun, not just because he's "lol top tier."

How am I insisting they are? It was my opinion and it's not like I've spent this whole thread ramming it down everyone's throats. I keep on saying take it as you may. All I did was give the translation that a lot of people wanted to know, so there ya go. Why is my opinion the only one that is attacked, rather than the others who are saying "I think they're out", or "I think they're in."?
Because anything that hints at Marth being deconfirmed is blasphemy.

Either way, Ness is now confirmed, so there goes 1/3 of the topic. As well as any argument for Marth and Roy being deconfirmed in the same fashion. Whee.

"Beat a decent player"? Sorry, buddy but I play Smash for fun and not for competition. Did I mention that all my criticizing was from one who would main Marth or Jigglypuff in all FFA matches with friends?

Marth was suspiciously too popular and I understood his capabilities in Melee BY MYSELF and not from any other source.

Marth was a semi-broken character

Seeing him scrapped will separate the boys from the men.

Seeing him return will cause more strict tourneys to rise and more crybabies.

Either way, I don't care what happens but people crying and panicking over his possible departure is beyond sad.

No, it will not separate the boys from the men. Skill already does that. ****ty players will get their *** kicked regardless of whether Marth is included or not. Give me a ****ty player, let him use Marth, I'll use Young Link and walk all over him.

You seem to think that everyone that uses Marth is automatically good, regardless of their skill level, and that getting rid of Marth will somehow show who's good and who isn't. That isn't going to happen, since that argument makes no sense whatsoever. How about instead of removing a character that people play for fun, we tone his power down a bit, kind of how they did with Fox?

Oh wait...that would be too smart. Let's just scrap him instead.

The more Marth fans panicking over the character's possible departure int he game I see, the more I hate him. You seem aware of his popularity and it attracting bad players but you didn't realize that with overplayed characters that could limit the game's replay value and/or it's fun are not too welcome.

Top Marth players are as ignored as Top Pichu players(Okay, maybe not. Then again, someone who literally takes out any opponent as Pichu with no trouble at all would be interesting)because he was popular and overplayed, why is that? No, not because he's a ladies' man with a stylish sword, it's because of his moveset, people use the latter as an excuse most likely. Especially those who never played the FE games.

Scrapping overplayed characters gives players more room to...guess what?

ACCEPT

CHANGE

As I said, the more rabid Marth fans I see, the more supportive I am on seeing him scrapped and right now I agree with you in seeing him return with a nerfed moveset...except nerfed so bad he'll be from semi-broken to semi-useless.

Oh what the hell, I'm talking like I'm a tourney player...

I guess, the scans don't mean a thing if they are confirmed or deconfirmed now since Ness along with Jigglypuff and Lucario appeared at 4:20 and 4:21 at the Japanese promo vid on the Japanese Wii site. So, it means Ness is back as a playable character. Also, Marth's and Roy's chances aren't affected at all.

Haha...with the Ness leak, I'm a very happy man. This pretty much makes all this Marth/Roy gone bull**** useless (although they still might be removed).

Here's to Marth being back in unnerfed and you getting your *** kicked by a C-stick spamming noob that only plays him because he's strong.

Well, looks like Ness is confirmed. I admit, I was wrong about this theory, my doubts of Ness being in brawl were wrong, and everyhting else about Ness pretty much. Close this.

I'm just so relieved that the Ness Wars are over and the supporters have prevailed.

Haha...yeah. That's it. My girlfriend of 2 years and 5 months cheated on me and that's why I'm here taking it out on you.

Have you ever considered that you might be an idiot?
Silly you don't have a girlfriend.

And FieryRebirth, please, make insults that are past the maturity level of a 13 year-old.

Both of you stop getting so personally offended over internet forums and calm down. I could care less if Marth is nerfed/deleted or not. If people want to use him let them, I personally will never use him.
