Mario's Plunger?

Hello everyone. I have a question regarding Mario's Forward A in the air. Both the Smash Wiki and the Official SSBM Strategy Guide say that Mario's Forward A in the air is called "Plunger". My friend claims that he did this move recently, and Mario stuck a plunger out and jabbed with it. I did Mario's Forward A in the air many times after hearing this trying to recreate it, but I always got Mario's Meteor Punch (The one in which he makes a motion like he's spiking a volleyball). Is there some technique I'm missing, or is what my friend told me false? And if so, why is the move called Plunger?

I think you got fooled dude. He always does the meteor punch in the air when he does his forward A. I would assume it is called the plunger because I guess you could say it would plunge others downward, but more likely not only that but as Mario was a plumber, they (game developers) were thinking of a way to incorporate his job with the game.

Well thank you, good sir. The funny thing is, my friend isn't the type of person who would tell people fake things to get them to believe them so they'll look foolish. But I have no idea how he could have done that move and confused it as an actual plunger.
