Yeah, other boards have it, why not us? With the new applications of cape teleporting, I'm suprised this thread wasn't made earlier.

Week 1 - Wario
Team "Ario", where is Lucario?

The Ratings

Overall ability to win - 9/10
Similar Strengths - Good followups, good aerial games, fast attacks.
Similar Weaknesses - From what was discussed, only the gimpability, which is hardly an issue.
How Mario can help Wario - Racking up damage helps increadibly with Wario's strong kill attacks, it keeps them fresh. Apparantly, Wario's B/D throw to a Mario F-air results in a jab lock.
How Wario can help Mario - Killing at lower percentages, yay!
Applications of Cape **** - F-throw startup time gives the Mario enough time to react.

Marios quick aerials and ability to rack up quick damage are great assets to Wario (lets him keep his killers fresh), the Fludd is hilarious, Wario can get in lots of pokes/hits really quick, which can help with Cape ******, Mario's throws (especially back) are great b/c their animation makes it easy to combo with a followup, Wario's throws are similarly great for followups.

Mario's fireballs can break up grab release attempts, Wario won't be getting gimped. He can't really save Mario though.

Dunno too much about Wario. In theory, I suppose this could work, but I imagine the overall lack of range could cause problems against characters like Marth and TL.

Wario is excellent at survival compared to the rest of the cast in teams, and an even better killer when his primary KO moves are fresh.

I imagine them co-existing onstage fine, since neither of them requires too much room to work. Probably the best thing for Mario when teamed with a good Wario, is the fact that he can freely use his Usmash for damage; something that can rarely be done in singles or when teamed with a character with low KO power.

Be sure to include, when discussing the character.

-Overall ability to win. (From a 1-10 ratio)
-Similar Strengths
-Similar Weaknesses
-How Mario can help partner.
-How partner can help Mario.
-Applications of Cape ****.

You should discuss Snake first

It would be nice to learn more about the combo since that is what me and my doubles partner decided to go with

=)

Discuss Wario, if we point out everything amazing about the team it might make boss more likely to team with me for Apex :p

All you need to do if you're worried about your partner Mario's recovery is just make sure the ledge is clear.

Idunno, Wario can get grabs easily. That's all I really know LOL.

Any chance you can do something like Wario D-throw -> Mario F-air -> Jab lock?

Okay, we're doing Wario then.

Start Discussion (I'd love to contribute, but I know next to nothing about Wario.)

Would somebody like to get the Wario boards and see what they think, I can't, because I can't link them, due to the Wii being a piece of crap.

EDIT: I'll be sure to format the OP whenever I get on a computer, and add funnyish pics of both the characters together :)

Ability to win:

(9/10)

Similar Strengths:

Well... they both have very good throws for follow-ups, they have quick attacks, and have good mobility. Also, both have strong aerial games.

Similar Weaknesses:

Mario is fairly easy to gimp and Wario's recover is somewhat gimpable (if her still needs it after the bike). They both usually end up spamming their best kill moves... but good edgeguarding efforts from Mario and Wario can balance this out.

How Mario can help Wario:

Wario Bthrow -> Mario fair -> jab lock

Duh.

Also, Mario can damage rack quickly to prevent Wario from spamming killers and keeping them fresh.

How Wario can help Mario:

He has better kill moves. His Dtilt is worthless

Applications of Cape ****:

Wario's Fsmash start-up time gives Mario enough time to get ready... with practice, you can get the timing down and have extremely early kills.

Hinderance of Wario, what to make sure not to get hit by:

Making sure Mario doesn't get gimped is a big factor. Wario has to make sure the ledge is clear (this applies to EVERY partner, though).

Really, it's just a matter of Mario damage racking and then having Wario take care of the killing.

Some of that is probably wrong because I have never teamed with a Wario before... and only played against one like three times (I normally play Duffman's G&W before you say anything, Phantom).

Alrighty, decided this needed an update, I have LESS posting time now that my Wii doesn't have the internet channel anymore (I hate my sister). Anyway, who should we do next?

Cape **** would work with Wario's fthrow, wouldn't it? It has a hell of a start up.

Subscribed. I love having wario as a partner. I should team with Quik one tournament. Wario is just an amazing partner.

Me and 7FO, best Mario-Wario of midwest. XD

Lol this seems like a winner XD. Maybe boss will do doubles with you after this discussion XD!!

As for my input, iunno about teamming up with wario. never teammed up with one. As for hypothesis and theory-crafting, I'd say they'd be a kickass team in the air and maybe abit medicore to above average on the ground. Though as Mata said before, the lack of range can be really depressing.

I'd like to take the time to point out that the title is misleading, and suggestive. Mario isn't romantically involved with anyone, because Peach won't put out.

I say change it to "Mario's Doubles Discussion" or something. Iunno. People might get the wrong idea.

Something that's rarely discussed.

None of that Mario and Luigi, Mario and Snake, or Mario and G&W ***. I'm curiouse about the Mario and Pikachu doubles matchup, actually. I'm thinking of teaming up with one in a doubles tourney a few days from now.

Marth, I don't really think so. He's not a fantastic killer and neither is Mario. There's nothing that really stands out about him that I can see other than him being less vulnerable to Mario's camp game.

DK maybe? he has very good power and good speed. he also has a good gound game. so

DK = speed,KO,ground game.
Mario = speed,damage racking,gimping,air game.

seems like a good combo to me eh?:)

Snake?! Meta Knight?!

Snake is fun to do FLUDD pushed Fsmash with. xD

Idk about you guys but I really like having Bowser as a teammate. Liquid Gen and I team online a lot and the team is just so much fun.

Grrr, Liquid XD

Mario + Sonic isn't a good team unless you're feeling ballsy. Don't try it.

It's epic because when Bowser crouches you can get behind him and it looks like your inside his shell and you can SHFireball so it looks like YOU JUST CAME OUT OF HIS SHELL. Much lulz.

Bowser FLUDD pushed Fsmash is also RAAAAPE.

He is a good partner simply because their names rhymes. See Mario + Lucario. Lucario + wario. (Also see. the mario wario lucario video)

As long as the name rhyme you are automatically given a skill boost. This has been proven by my pseudo team. If your online persona rhymes then that is a major plus.. Making a noob who can't recover, into a azen level of gaming. When faced with another rhymed team then skill will come into place. Alliteration named teams does have a boost, but it very minor, placing a Alliteration team vs a rhyming team is like placing a gerbil against a lion. You can't win.

Also two falcos spaming their blaster is a good alternative.

I should know, I'm a expert.
