Hey everyone, I come here with a modest proposal of a project I'd like to do.

As we all know, The Legend of Zelda does not have voice acting, especially not the older games such as the 64 games. So a project I'd like to do is to take voice acting done by fans and other talented voice actors and try to give the game even more life than it previously had.

Here's the problem though: I don't have a capture card, and can't buy one. Thus, I can't get the visuals myself, and I can't just pull them off of YouTube somewhere, since the visuals have to match the audio exactly. So here's what I'd like: I'd like some assistance with this. I'd like someone with a capture card to help me in this project. Is there anyone here who would like to help?

I'd also like to open up some voicing auditions here on Smashboards, but I can't open those at all until I have someone willing to help.

All the voices are probably too high for me to do, but I like this idea, Darkurai, I really do. Ummm, sadly I don't have a capture card either. But I hear you can pick one up from best buy for under $100 (if you live in the States). Once you get this up and running, let me know. I don't have a demo reel like some of the guys on the VAC (which ironically I was thinking of joining beforehand) but I'm pretty good for a beginner and there are some official Machinimas that don't have acting as good as I can do.... my mic could diminish my quality, though....

I'm afraid until I get someone who can supply me with video clips, I can't even begin to go through the steps for voice acting.

EDIT: Oh wow, ninja'd by Spire.

Spire, do you mean you have a capture card, or you'd like to be involved in this? 'cause I'd like to put out there that I cannot buy a capture card.

dakurai there are multiple video walkthroughs on youtube. You can more than likely find all the clips you'll need there.

But the video wouldn't match up with the audio; most people move on through text at reading speed, which is faster than speaking speed.

Do we have to audition or is it first come first serve?

I would like to have the part of either Link, or Skull Kid/Majora's Mask

We're going to need to do voice auditions to figure out who's who.

Okay, if Spire's doing the visuals, I will write up everything for the first parts tonight.

I WILL NOT DO THE AUDITIONS FOR EVERY PART AT ONCE.

I'd like to do most, if not all of the game (probably not just randomly talking to people though, unless Spire wants to go around talking to every single person) so obviously we have many many characters. Thus, to make things easier, I will hold auditions for specific parts as they come up.

Please remember: I will also open an audition thread on VAC. You will be competing with some high-class voice actors. I will hold auditions with no favor based on who you are. Please also note that talent alone will not automatically get you your part of choice; a voice that fits the part is also important.

As I said, I'll write up all the official stuff tonight.

I'm doing the visuals? Um... I don't exactly have the time. I could do it, but I really, really don't have the time do go through. I'll happily voice over, but recording footage, I will not.

Sorry Dark :(

This is why I ask questions. But the question was not answered.

Is there some machinimator's guild, similar to the voice acting club, that I could go to?

hmm if you need a backup plan, I can get you the capture card and what-not seeing as I have one. I just currently don't have a third y cable (or w/e it's called) so there might be a few sound channels missing sometimes

But question: what do you need the capture card for EXACTLY? like, the majoras mask footage?

Also, I could do voice acting but my voice is kind of.. well... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlA8mbZ1WG4&feature=channel_page not too impressive x.x

The capture card is indeed needed for the footage, yes. And your voice isn't bad or anything. Worst case, you could be a Gorman Brother.

allright then, well if you ever need me just tell me the details and stuff. I'd like to replay the game and what-not so I don't mind doing this. (I never actually beat it, but I'm pretty close as of now. I'm just trying to 100 percent it on this run. x.x)

As far as I know there aren't any requirements. You just have to sound like your not reading something off a sheet of paper.

And sorry for the spam, guys. I posted something that would have gotten me flamed and I edited it. :embarrass
This I can do. I just wonder if you need the capture card or something....?

A decent microphone and vocal chords. A mouth helps too.
I might (repeat, MIGHT) be able to audition.... But I can't quite think of a role I'd fit. I'm at that awkward point in my life where my voice is too deep for the Bombers' Club Members and too childish for any of the older characters.

I have a specific plan as to how the Moon is going to be done, as well as Skull Kid. There's going to be one voice actor for Skull Kid, and one voice actor for Majora. When Skull Kid is possessed by Majora's Mask, I'm going to have both of the voices play over each other at the same time. Then when the Mask comes off of Skull Kid, the mask with have that Majora voice. Stemming from this plan, I was planning on the Moon to just have Majora's voice, since it never had a voice until it was possessed by Majora's Mask.

But I suppose we'll see.

Aw man, I wish I had recording equipment. This sounds like a really awesome idea. I could be a great Odolwa with my chants. XD

To clear something up: We're dubbing over the text. I see no reason in dubbing over what already has sound.

Also, I think I know how to fix that missing stereo in my game. Basically I'd have to put it in mono and somehow balance it out between left and right.

I was curious though -- what kind of path do you plan to take the dubbing? Do you plan on every single side quest or just the main story along with some of the more.. interesting sidequest. (Like kafei's and what-not)

I plan to, at the absolute least, do the Main Quest and everything in the Bomber's Notebook. I might extend this to some little scenes like playing the Jam Session song for Evan, Anju's talk with her mother, and the terrified people during Night of the Final Day.

16 years old.

Forces are transpiring against me.

I have a friend (over the internet) with a capture card. He would be more than willing to do this for me. I asked him. He doesn't have Majora's Mask.
