Machinima respawn - players get paid...??

So I have had this idea for quite some time...So here I go.

I have a contract with a company known as machinima.com , some of you may have heard of them, for those of you who havent heres a brief rundown.

Machinima is making a show out of a video game (I.E. Red vs blue), they have a few different youtube channels, all of them with a **** ton of subcribers. Anyone who has a contract with them can give them videos to upload to their channel. Pretty much ANY kind of videos, in the last year they have created a gameplay channel called machinima respawn where directors can also upload their gameplay clips. Oh, did I mention we directors get paid per view? And these videos get a lot of views.

And thats what it is and we get paid for uploading this videos. In light of the recent events of pound V I was thinking, hey...what if there was another way to make money from tournaments other than the prize money? And in some cases help pay for the venue.

Im sure you guessed it by now, here's how it would generally work.

Tournament happens
Someone records big matches and commentary (Commentary is really a must)
They get the video to me somehow (Im thinking mediafire or dropbox)
I send the video's in to machinima respawn
A few days later they start going up on the channel with subcribers
End of the month Machinima repsawn pays me
I funnel payments to players/tournament host's (probably the players)

A few purposes this could serve....

Pay for venue
Pay players in case a pound V happen

Some things to keep in mind....

I would only want to post matches of high level players playing high level matches, we cant have a single boring video uploaded, otherwise they all get judged based off of that.

And we cant post a "ton" of these videos, I know a lot of videos come from tournaments but only the hyped of the hyped would come up here. The last thing we need is to clutter the channel with 50 videos viewers decide they don't want to sort through.

Speaking of clutter...this channel has 983,883 subscribers.....983,883 SUBSCRIBERS...Thats a lot of subscribers for a LOT of directors that upload to this channel. This channel has everything from black ops to tetris uploaded on it and there is a LOT of clutter on here. I already have a few ways around this.

We are a very strong community (Melee AND Brawl) and we love this game enough that we make super hype trailers and have multiple channel with over 1,000 subscribers that are there JUST for the awesome melee videos (And some of them for brawl) With your help we can filter all of the viewers to the smash videos on machinima respawn

I also want to stress that I am not doing this for the money, I just want to get more support for the players.

I would love to hear responses from everyone but i'm primarily interested in getting thoughts from the top players, the guys who would most likely have their videos on that channel.

tl:dr - I upload videos to machinima respawn, players get paid

You're contradicting yourself.

The idea is good, but honestly I don't see why Waffles or another video uploader just applies for a contract instead of you basically getting free money for just uploading videos other people have recorded... lol nice try I guess?

The idea is good, but the implementation is not.

You taking any money at all for resubmitting community footage is a no-go.

I like the idea soley because more people would notice our community. I would prefer we actually have GOOD hype commentators. I wish HWF's hype and Wife's explanation-like commentary was one.

Im fine with. Why is mbr salty about some1 trying to hype up the community and expand its interests?

What if his fee turns out to be $5? Is that really a problem? We should be jumping at the chance to get PP vs M2K on a channel with 1 million subs.

Lmao. Why are you blindly associating me with the MBR? It's a personal opinion, not an MBR opinion. I also said it was a good idea, showing my support for it being done, just that it needed some additional thought put into the execution.

And I am using an assumption of it being a % of the amount generated, not some trivial flat fee like $5. What kind of argument is that to even make?

Arent u the only person in the mbr right now?

Anyway that wasnt really my point, that was more like me being KK trying to tickle u into submission.

Lol. No one has been removed from the MBR. Yet. :troll:

Also, you are going to need a better feather if you are going to tickle me KK style. ;)

Actually $5 was one of the fee's I was floating around in my head, Believe me it wont be something as outrageous as 20% Probably not even %10, like I said my primary goal here is get more support for the players.

Actually what I meant here is that they can help direct youtubers to the videos that are on machinima respawn, also, its not that easy to get a contract you have to be active in making machinima, which is a totally different arena. and I guess I need to stress this again, I am not doing this for money, I get plenty of that from machinima.com already. And I also think its good for us to have a single uploader, more people go to waffle's channel because they think of him as "The uploader man that gives us sweet melee videos"

edit: Oh yes one other thing, I plan on distributing money to all the party's significantly involved in getting these matches on machinima respawn, which would be...

The Players
The recorder
the uploader

Oh I'll also update first post with this, but I don't know about putting older matches on there, after all we already have 18.304 views on dr.pp vs armada, the initial hype surrounding the youtube upload is gone now, we wont have mountains of smashers searching for that video if it were to be uploaded right now.

I made a machinima called grand brawl a couple years ago, a friend of mine who already had a contract (megablasta) got me the contract after he showed machinima.com my first couple episodes

So would these videos be hype *** tourney matches? Like M2K vs Shiz kinda material?
Cause the Machinima that I know posts like red bs blue stuff (Like u said before)

Yes they would be hype *** tourney matches, and they would go on machinima respawn, which was made for gameplay and not actual machinima. But like I said to get those up there I would have to get the cooperation of major uploaders/recorders.
