K I'll turn this into not spam.

Luigi completely out prioritizes yoshi in the air, he easily gimps yoshi in the air since his b down breaks through DJSA but doesn't provide any knockback so you are stuck off the ledge, his combo game is far superior to Yoshi's and his nair is a combo breaker, and is the main set up for his combos so you go fro comboing to being stuck in one of luigi's combos.

How am I supposed to beat him?

:yoshi: But nobody cares about WEEEGIIIIII

DANGIT I WAS LIKE FIFTY SECONDS LATE WTF

How to beat Luigi in three easy steps.

1] Space falling back airs and bait the dodge, downsmash, or roll.

2] Watch for what he does and walk in the opposite direction. Don't run, it'll make everything seem more hectic than it is. Besides, it's not like he can catch up with you.

3] Throw an egg. Walk some more. Throw another egg. Or walk, throw, walk. Either order is fine.

Oh look, you just won. Next?

oh and I forgot to mention he kills off the top (where yosh is easily killed) with nair at mild percentages and bup, usmash, and fsmash at really low percentages.

I just can't win against him, advice?

*has pity*
Here's some copypasta from the matchup thread.

"DownB is a godly approach. If you throw an egg at the beginning of the match, be prepared to eat a tornado. Too good.
When Yoshi is recovering, Luigi might try jumping up to his face and spiking or fairing him... use uair and nair, respectively, to fight against that.
Don't even try to edgeguard, it's a worse decision against him than against most other characters.
Nair and bair approaches after he throws a fireball can be pretty potent, so watch out for those.
Luigi's fsmash comes out quickly and has great range. Therefore, ftilt is somewhat useless in this match =( But bair beats out most of his aerial options, so stick to the air and you'll have a lot fewer problems.
Luigi usually won't have a chance to land his killer upB because of Yoshi's superior range, so that's at least a saving grace."

Dunno if that will actually help, but you know.

I've actually had a lvl 9 computer Luigi eat through my Fsmash with his own, even though mine was fired an instant before his. I wish I had a replay, it was pretty cool and humiliating.

alright, Luigi is only annoying. DownB spam is annoying cause no move other than grabs and maybe egg roll to get around it. His aerial beats yours, but you really don't need to try and combo while in the air. His ground game is not worthy to worry about (except for smashes...duh). Pretty much, you want the opposite games clashing each other (Yoshi's air game vs. Luigi's ground game, and vice versa). BF would be a good stage to counter him in my opinion cause you just need control of the bottom platform. When you have that, it's Uairs, Usmash, Eggs, Bairs, Nairs, and such. Just unlesh from there =P
Also, when he's recovering, watch at what he does. If he uses the missle, then it means an easy spike as long as you're not slow. And be wary because if you miss or are too late, he'll tornado to screw you, or DJ and aerial to counter.

Thanks Bigman, that helps alot, I spiked a luigi recovering with bover once, and he survived. I mean he wasn't at a huge percentage, but I think it was at least 80.

LOL at Dan. Hopefully I'm not really retarted and that guy is wrong lol.

Something I have seen done with Yoshi is to space yourself just right so you can do a sliding perfect shield away from Luigi's down+B (yoshi's one of the few characters who can really abuse that). If you time it so you perfect shield the very last hit, its hugely possible to make him eat a smash before he recovers.

Oh... and I've seen neutral B go through tornado, its very hard, but doable, and if you nail Weegee midair off the ledge with it (be warned, miss, and your gimped bad) weegee usually won't come back, and even if he can, its not at an angle where he can spike you. The important key here is to remember, if you chase Weegee off the ledge (bad idea anyways unless your Bigman style pro), make sure you jump off FACING where weegee will be after his current move (except a tornado) will end. If he's going to missle under you and end up on the other side, you can't use your tounge to counter.

Your bigman, explain how you aren't?

I meant you yourself, not nessesarily your style (which is great to, much more conservative than my nads out approach, slower, but effective nontheless).

But enough about me, I need to get my Wii back before I can go making any claims.

Well, I just regarded myself as a good Yoshi player. I find myself to have far too many mistakes to say I'm pro...

A friend of mine has a godly luigi, and I think it's a pretty terrible matchup. The thing is my playstyle is pretty much 100% IN YOUR FACE so I never tried camping against him. I'm gonna give that a shot next time. Actually, I might be heading out to a tournament this weekend (smash and coffee 2) and I'm going to try toning down my game and being more campy.
