Some vids were kinda boring though.

That's not Isai or Mew2king, the skill level of both players is quite low.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t327f8pOpf0 good lucas v. falco
I'm sorry I haven't been maintaining it at all, my interest in smash has been slowly dwindling since the release of Brawl. This does sound like a good idea, but going off of my own opinions when choosing the best videos is a little... unfair, so... what do you propose I do?I highly suggest creating some sort of "best of" or "hall of fame" for the videos here. Its a very efficient way to show off the character to those who are curious as to how good the character is, among many other advantages. It will definitely be well worth the minimal amount of time it takes in the end.
By the way, as this thread hasn't been updated in quite some time, if a different dedicated member would like to create a new video thread then please do so. PM me once the new thread is complete and I will replace this sticky.
The only thing with this is that:Well the biggest issue we have is that we have no "pros" really playing Lucas. I've heard that Vidjo does but there's only one video of him playing Lucas on youtube that I've seen and it's nothing special. These are the criteria I think that the videos that are put on here should follow
-the video is not against cpus
-the video was added later than February (possibly early March? Depends on quality)
-the video does not have obvious or stupid mistakes on either side (especially resulting in SDs)
-the video does not use items (we could put these in a seperate section if someone objects)
-tournament videos are encouraged but good friendlies are allowed
-If the video is from a wifi match there must be no evidence that lag interfered in gameplay
-the match does not take place on a custom stage or an obviously banned stage (like New Pork City)
-videos must be 1 v 1 or 2 v 2 no free for alls
-videos must be of decent quality (no black lines if we can help it.)
I think if we eliminate the ones that don't adhere to these rules we can cut out a lot of superfluous videos. Until some bigger names start coming up playing Lucas I think it's only fair to allow anyone who adheres to these criteria to be allowed into the thread. I think we should keep a top ten section for ones that are rated the best though. We should keep a demonstrational section for zap jump videos HRC etc. Hopefully in time there will be more people adding to the thread.
These are my thoughts exactly. I made the Lucas Video Compendium for everyone, not just for the best. My original thought was "the more matches the better", but now I'm getting criticized for it. I wanted anyone to be able to come and post their videos; give them their three minutes of glory.Alls I'm trying to say is that I want to see the crazy friendlies posted, mistakes or no, and I certainly don't want to see this devolve into some kind of club in which only those deemed "the most skilled" are included.
Well, I cut off about half of the videos now. Since apparently you've watched them all, can you nominate some of your favorites? The purpose of a video compendium is to show how a good Lucas player plays. Go to the Melee boards and look on any video compendium and you'll see the top players for each character. Not random matches between unknowns. We don't have pros yet but that doesn't mean we should include any video that's around. If we don't have criteria for how well a person plays then we might as well fill it with all item matches, five stock on random custom stages with spikes and ice all over. I've watched every video and some of them are really just not entertaining or informative to watch because of how early on they were put on. A lot are from when people were just figuring out how their characters' moves worked. This leads to multiple SDs (yes I know one can be okay but some of these have 2 and 3 and that is not okay) and some really stupid and pointless play. It doesn't apply to all the early videos but definetly a good number of them. To be honest, I'm sure some of the players in those videos would appreciate them being removed because (hopefully) they have vastly improved since that time. Just because we don't have a ton of videos doesn't mean we should fill a thread up with all the ones we do have regardless of play quality. *end rant*
Toasty, thank you soo much. I would do this when I play samus but for some reason never conected the dots, thought it was a samus only thing. Gawd I am soo excited to get home and practice this shiz.if you tether grab the edge, hit A and you'll immediately go to the ledge and at that exact moment you press down or back to let go of the ledge, and then just as immediately, jump toward the stage and do an attack [fair/dair are your best options, fair will probably be the most commonly used one, though nair isn't that bad either]...this makes Jungle Japes a great stage for Lucas...swing from edge to edge [like...recover to the side of one platform, immediately ledgedrop after the tether and DJ under the platform and quickly tether again and you can ledgehop from the middle main platform....something like that.
Did that in tourney once and everyone was like "****ing Indiana Jones n **** haha"...anyway, it's effective...especially for ledgehop fair [on the inside ledge of the side platforms] for a KO
try this: go toward an edge, tether, immediately press back or down and then tether again...do it until you can repeatedly regrab the ledge consistently. then use your mastery of the timing to ledgehop with attacks![]()
