Could someone point out the major and minor differences between them, and what different advantages and disadvantages they have? Im interested in both of them, but Im not completely sure about which one I want to main.

Ness is a "get people in the air and win with high priority aerials" kind of guy.
Lucas is a "use good spacing and pressure with a defensive game" kind of guy.

Easy way out: Main both of 'em, like me! 
No one can tell you who to main... it basically comes down to personal preference. You have to decide for yourself whose advantages you like more, and whose disadvantages you see as less of a hindrance.

I main Lucas because he has really damaging attacks and he can rack up some damage usign his combo. Idk I guess I have mastered him.

ness is more of a aerial type of guy and lucas is more of a ground type. I use lucas in doubles cause me and kk like to rep earthbound.

as a Lucas main, i often play with Ness, he's one of my secondaries characters (i change my secondaries costantly). Yesterday i played some Ness dittos vs a Ness main, and man! he owned me! His reaction time with Ness is much better than mine, and i got PKT mindgamed T_T. I thought my Ness was good, but there's a lot i have to improve. Then, I owned his Ness and his Yoshi with my Lucas 
. My point is, Ness and Lucas are really different
. My point is, Ness and Lucas are really differentNess is completely different from Lucas. People act like they are the same character. I main Lucas and can't stand to use Ness. He drives me insane. Completely different playstyle, approaches, recovery, everything. My secondary is Metaknight for when I feel like destroying something beautiful. If you're going to use a second character who's completely different it might as well be a really good one for counterpicks right?

I main them both. Lucas is like a ninja, and Ness is a serial killer!!! Lucas has all these flashy moves giving him some pizazz, and ness just kills. for me, lucas flows like water, but ness is just beastly. I'm better with ness than i am with lucas. maybe caused i mained him in melee. They're both different.

when i first started playing brawl I had my mind set on playing as ness...but since you had to unlock him i started playing wih the closest character to him at the time...and once i finally unlocked ness and started plying with him...i couldnt stand his play style so i main lucas now
