Ugh, that hit the nail in the coffin for me liking Sonic the Hedgehog. It wouldn't have been so bad if it was romance between him and another anthro character, but a human? Wtf srsly.

I'm not really into this... Shipping stuff but Link and Samus would be nice... I mean, they're both awesome and important characters to Nintendo, AND they're both badass... Too bad they won't pair up (at least at the beggining 8D)...

The normal (if there is such a thing, which there isn't:p) fanfics will be the usual Mario X Peach, Link X Zelda

The Yaoi fanfics will be the expected Pit X Link X Ike

The Yuri will be of course Zelda X Zamus X Peach (since there's almost no other viable females in the game, nobody needs more creepy furry stuff from Krystal, and Nana...nah)

The downright weird and terrifiying (and sadly most common) will be Kirby X Pikmin X Ridley. The last one will scare the skin clean off your bones, because they will probably have detailed illustrations to go with it.

Yuri and Yaoi are the same, the only difference is yuri caters to fanboys and yaoi to fangirls and the only reason why either are popular is cause it's hot.
So, for asking about yuri, you're doing the same as the yaoi fangirls. :p

Women on the internet is still a new concept, but women who aren't shipping smutty gay pairings is just absurd!

But honestly fat chance on Link. If anything any "flirting" would be entirely one-sided. Link typically has a cavalcade of women courting him while all the while he remains oblivious to it. The closest thing we've seen however was from this Link. Where he apparently had some feelings for Ilia and was pretty disheartened when Midna did what she did (phrased to avoid spoilers) at the end of the TP.

However I can see Samus or some girl giving him a bit of a smirk to solidify Link's title of "Nintendo's Lady's Man".

We are the original shippers, and we're the ones who actually are serious about canon.
Also, fangirls have already taken over some of the many major websites. Eventually, others will fall to our rule. I'm just one of the pioneers here, but some will follow eventually. ;)

The way I see Samus, she's a woman who takes what she does very seriously and has absolutely no time nor interest preoccupying with boyfriends and the like, at least until she kills all the Space Pirates for good.
- And I don't see either Peach nor Zelda doing that either.

Isn't that assuming all men want Peach and Samus to hook up? I personally can't stand yuri.

Put I do agree about Samus. However if we were to see anything from the current roster it would have to be Samus. Think about it, Peach is already with Mario. Anything with him doesn't count. Zelda is probably even more goal oriented then Samus. I'm just saying if anything were to come from any of the women, it would almost have to be Samus. And Link has this thing about attracting women.

Wouldn't it seem slightly odd though, having Peach and Mario for example showing they're in love in subspace then beating the crap out of each other in regular brawl?

Some characters have developed character, like Fox Mcloud to some degree. Others, don't like Mario. It'll be interesting since none of the characters are limited by the 'they have no development so you can relate to them' arguement since there are so many characters and no 'main' character. We may very well see actual personality brought up in the game. As for love however, I can't see it, I mean as I said the Starfox series only really did anything with Krystal and Fox in Command (some of the 10 endings) and that was really pretty rare for a Nintendo game.

Also that pic of the Ice Climbers? There is no way that shows brotherly/sisterly love.

I'm kinda confused as to how anyone sees anything from the IC pic other then brotherly/sisterly love. I mean they're only striking a pose. A simple hi-five. I mean it's just like those juvinile novels. Like the "Hardy Boys" and things like that.

Besides they're described as siblings in the NES manual for the game. Sorry shippers. (Not that that's ever stopped shippers.) Then again they are described as Chinese in one issue of "Nintendo Power" so I have no idea. lol

Problem is a lot of Nintendo Franchises (Mario for example) do not have a set storyline and it changes all the time. In the original Marios, the Mario Bros. where from Brooklyn and stumbled into the Mushroom Kingdom through pipes. However, SMW 2: Yoshi went away from that.

I think Sakurai was hinting at giving back story to characters like Pit, etc. to see where they came from.

I like the Ice Climber break up idea!


Popo and Nana are on ice mountain and The Halberd flies by. Popo and Nana split up to find the source. Meta-Knicght wants the Ice Climbers to destroy the Primids so he goes wwith each one and tells them things to break the two up. Then when the two get together, they will both think of Meta-Knight as a friend and help him.

Meta-Knight works with both indivisually. Then when Popo and Nana both accidentaly run into each other and Meta-Knight, Meta-Knight takes the prize and tells them to go away.

Popo and Nana get angry and figure out what he did to break them up. They both defeat Meta-Knight and have a stronger relationship than ever.

That was a movie though... That never coincided with the game. It's always been a set storyline, just that there was never any real character development and Peach never learns from her mistakes.
