Usually when I play someone in friendlies for the first time from OOS, and they are close to or above my skill level, I typically try to win and not mess around cuz I wanna see how I stand when compared to this person. Granted I maybe don't play AS gay as I MIGHT in a tournament match cuz thats kinda boring, they are still pretty serious. So although they aren't the best indicator of skill, I'd say if you are absolutely ****** someone in friendlies your chances of winning are pretty high. And in this case, this held true.
Either way though, he lost in both categories and people shouldn't be johning for him. Being good in a large number of matchups is part of being a good player. If he can't handle peach (a character that fox *****) than a strong player, he's just strong in certain matchups, which happens to be the way I feel about Lovage as a player.
Funny you say that.
A certain player can testify that when I played him in friendlies he completely destroyed me(I mean 4 stock, 3 stock etc. etc.). Then he played me in tournament, and I returned the favor.
He's strong in certain match-ups because we have those players back home in Socal. And we're not "John-ning" for him, we're just saying he doesn't have enough match-up experience with Peach. If match-up experience = John, then my bad, but I don't think it is.
Think about it, which Peach player does Lovage get to play on a regular basis?
Lovage;
1. Kouryuu(SoCal)
2. Connor(SoCal)
3. Nes(SoCal)
4. Pink Shinobo(NorCal)
How about VaNz' experience with Fox
VaNz;
1. PC
2. M2K
3. Jman
4. Eggm
5. Cactuar
The list goes on and on.
Now tell me Lovages' match-up experience = VaNz' match-up experience?
By the way, your post proved my(And MaNg0's) point.
Don't worry I'm noob at smash, I'm sure you(And any East Coast player for that matter) can beat me in a MM.
