Ugh why am I so terrible at giving advice, I just can't find the words to describe what I'm thinking.

In my mind, I think in movies, not words.

EDIT: Sorry for the useless unnecessary post.

ugh, i hate how whenever i ask for help on this forum, I get ignored completely but pointless threads keep getting fed because it is much easier to prove someone wrong than give advice to someone in need.

I'd like to give advice, but I suck with everyone not named Link/Falcon/Yoshi, and Link vs Samus happens to be my worst matchup. Here are some tips for that match anyway:

Don't tech in place, always get far away.
Abuse U-Air, nothing Samus has can really trump it consistently.
Don't U-Smash floaties. Ever.
Edgehogs are effective, you don't always have to use D-Smash/D-Air.

Watched the first one: You tend to sometimes attack like crazy and randomly: think more before you do a move and try to be more accurate with each hit

edit: also, edgeguard samus with fox dtilt when shes at high %

Take what you will from a 20 some poster, and I only watched the first 2 vids but I hope this helps:

-Spam those lasers and camp, or if you want to be aggressive use the lasers to set yourself up. You used lasers, but then you just ran in well after their effect was gone. A good example of using the lasers properly was in 3:22 of the first vid, where you chained two lasers into an uair for the KO. With Mario, the same thing applies. Use the fireballs to set up a grab, dair, uair, whatever, but just make sure you're not running in recklessly after the fireball has done its thing.

-Edgeguarding and Recovery: Especially with Mario, get some balls and jump off. Mario can get pretty far out there and still make it back, so apply as much pressure as possible. As far as recovery, mix it up. You can get pretty creative with both Fox and Mario. Make him work for it, not give him an easy bair or dair.

-The one thing I've learned playing against good Samuses is never, ever stand still on the ground under Samus and try to usmash, uair, utilt, etc. This is suicide.

But really, Nintendude is frickin good and I thought you played pretty well, you definitely didn't get wrecked.

thanks guys. any advice is really appreciated. i definitely need to work on approach and attack more when i know i can connect rather than approaching by spamming air moves.

You have to play more gay against me, especially Samus. Lasering completely shuts Samus down and it's really easy to get a drill -> jab, drill, whatever, jab, up-smash combo for an easy kill.

Put up some matches where you get wrecked too:)

I don't play much fox/link, so take my advice with several shakers full of salt, but it seemed to me that you didn't tech-roll with quite enough mindgames on your side, and a couple of times with fox you fast-falled a dair, which took you through him and gave you that fun little uncancelable landing lag. That's obviously a no-no as well.

I watched a few of the videos and you seem pretty good. Like others said you could definitely laser more. Even if you're not camping with lasers it's really effective to stifle the opponents approach and retaliate while they are in that little bit of stun time from the laser.

you mean like the one where you 5 stocked me with falcon? who would want to watch that? ;)

i do plan on putting more of those up so there will most likely be a few where I get destroyed.

Let me start by saying that you've put up a respectable showing against someone who is known as a very good player. You're already quite good at this game, and at a given level of skill it becomes harder to give good advice beyond general stuff like "space better" and "learn the matchup more." That being said, a few things I noticed watching the video:

- Lasers. More. Seriously. You don't have to run away and camp forever, but Fox should be peppering the opposition with shdl and full hop triple lasers whenever he gets the chance. The damage adds up, and it shuts down slower/bigger opponents pretty hard.

- You seem somewhat uncomfortable with the matchup against Samus. It seemed like you kept getting surprised when Samus recovered really fast from hitstun. Or how you kept going under Samus with Mario's uair, only to get a Samus dair right in the face. Playing against Samus is pretty weird compared to playing against most other characters. Just play the matchup more so you get surprised less often.

- Play more carefully. In almost every match Nintendude was able to gimp you once or twice, and then you went on to lose by one or two stocks. Meanwhile, I cannot recall a single gimp against Nintendude on your part. These gimps are making a big difference in the end. You need to learn where they happen and then try your hardest to stay out of these situations.
