<p align="center">Team matches are a great break from traditional Smash. Having a teammate provides the ability to make some really cool (or cruel) combos on your opponents, and is a lot of fun, especially when played badly (You hit me with a charge shot? I’ll hit you with a Falcon Punch! Team Shambles!) Anyway, todays update is a new, Team Only item, the Team Healer.</p>

<p align="center">You’ll never guess what it does.
<img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/item13_071219a.jpg" alt="The Starting Smash" />

<!--more-->
<p align="center">So, you’ve guessed that it heals, but how does it work? Well first, pick it up.</p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/item13_071219d-l.jpg" alt="I don't need to say 'with your hands' do I?" /></p>
<p align="center">Then pretend it’s a bob-omb and chuck it at your ally. (This is for that Donkey Punch!)</p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/item13_071219e-l.jpg" alt="Seriously, every punch move needs the attack yelled out. Falcon PUNCH! Donkey PUNCH! Warlock PUNCH! .....oh, that's all? :(" /></p>
<p align="center">But no explosion (damn :() but instead heals your ally. Hooray!</p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/item13_071219f-l.jpg" alt="Side effects may include levitation, hair growth and your friends whining that they always heal you and not the other way around." /></p>
<p align="center">However, it’s not always a safe option…..oops.</p>
<p align="center"><img src="/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/item13_071219g-l.jpg" alt="Other side effects include classy poses, and then having the poop beat out of you for stealing their item." /></p>

I wonder if you can heal yourself if your team mate reflects it. Also, blood red Zelda looks so much more badass than the old gal. Nice.

Wow, this sounds like an awesome item. It actually takes skill and teamwork to use properly...hopefully it won't heal you a stupid amount. This might be one healing item my group actually keeps on.

This item looks pretty cool. It is very balanced with the fact that you can give it ally or enemy and it is a unique idea. Only downfall is that it's an item. XD

The let-down for this update is that they're sticking to Red, Green, and Blue teams again only. Awww, I wanted Black, Gold, and White!

Could there ever be a situation where you would WANT to heal your opponent? I doubt it...

I've seen a lot of people acting like this item would be hard to use correctly. Like you'd need to coordinate with your team member or something. Well, I don't think you would. I'm a pretty amazing shot with items, so I could probably hit my teammate from across the screen, as he goes off the stage to spike someone. Maybe I'm just more accurate than others...

I bet the item can be knocked away and used again by someone else. I mean what would be the drawback to attacking someone who has this. Its not like they could use it against you. And what if it misses friend or foe? Will it vanish? Who knows?

How dynamic! It's like letting your team-mate take the health that you BADLY needed on some hyped-up FPS. Ah well. I like the idea of proper team interaction.

this item is lame.

1. Healing items are lame.

2. Team-only items?!? lame.

3. Looks too much like a smash ball.

4. Who actually likes to play with healing items?!?
(I spent all that time beating your damage meter so high JUST SO YOU COULD GET A HEART)
lame

5. This update was neither Ridley nor Olmar.

^ Stop expecting Ridley or Olmar.

Anyway, this item seems to be good for someone like Bowser, who will take a lot of damage. I think if you combine Bowser with a speedy character (Fox, Sonic, Pikachu), then you can have Bowser go into the fray while the other tries to heal him. That is, if you have items turned on.

this item is lame.

1. Healing items are lame. No, unfair, overpowered healing items are lame.

2. Team-only items?!? lame. Yeah, because new ideas are sooooo stupid, right?

3. Looks too much like a smash ball. They look similar, yes, but not that much. The Smash Ball is 2-d, floats around, takes a few hits to get, and cannot be grabbed, plus it has the very large Smash logo on it. The Team Healer is 3-d, all ringed and glowy, and acts as a normal pickup and throw item. Pay attention.

4. Who actually likes to play with healing items?!?
(I spent all that time beating your damage meter so high JUST SO YOU COULD GET A HEART)
lame NO one has because they were all either too strong (Maxim Tomato, Heart Container) or too weak (Food). Now, while it doesn't say how much it heals, it wouldn't matter all that much anyways, because 1, the pickup person doesn't heal, 2, it has to be thrown at your team mate to work, and 3, can easily be gotten by the other team's people. I think that's fair balancing of a Team item.

5. This update was neither Ridley nor Olmar. Heroes always arrive late.
Bolded words are mine.

Verrrrrry interesting. This looks like an item that might actually get some use. I don't think it would be easily exploitable or cheap because of the unique dynamics.

Okay, I can definitely see that they had their heart in the right place with this item. And depending on how it works out, it could definitely be a great addition to the strategy of teams matches, which is receiving more attention near the end of Melee's lifespan. I think that they're going off the concept of stock tanks.

Now, if this item gets rid of your A moves in favor of throwing it(which it seems like it will), It won't help at all. It'll make you hella vulnerable for as long as you're holding it so you'll essentially HAVE to use it as soon as you grab it so that you won't get *****. Now, a character like Peach won't really have to worry about this because SHE can float-cancel aerials all day long even while holding at item. What about everyone else? They'd be forced to either A) spam special moves or B) grab, toss immediately and pray that it's not intercepted.

If it behaves more like a pummel item where you keep your moveset or get a modified one and can throw it with Z, I think it could be pretty awesome. Grabbing the item and still being able to choose WHEN to use it could lead to really great doubles matches. To balance it out, I'd say maybe make you A attacks weaker OR have the healing effect drain the longer you hold on to it.

Still, I can see both sides of the argument. Losing your A moves could possibly ADD strategy to the match. You wanna fight? Don't pick it up. Wanna heal? Pick it up and risk you being *****(because you can't attack) or your partner being *****(because you can't exactly help). I dunno. Disadvantages seem to outweigh advantages.

Great update though. Sorry if someone said this before. I didn't exactly read the thread

Hey this is the second time we had 2 updates in one.

I think that means that he's getting rid of all the fairly boring updates, and from now on...

JUICY STUFF!

Btw this update is pretty sweet

Wow pervert, time to move on from virtual girls and get a life in the real world.
Oh, come on! Did I insult you in some way? And btw, real girls are nice too, in case you didn't notice. :p
Nah, he's just the kind of guy who. . .how do I phrase this delicately?. . .Oh, yes. Who has his head so far up his *** he can eat his lunch twice in one sitting. Because real girls find that so attractive.

On topic, when I saw the title for the update, I thought it was gonna be something big. The healer does resemble a smash ball, after all. But still, it seems pretty cool. Depending on how powerful it is, it could really turn a match around. I don't play teams that often, so it doesn't really effect me, but you know. . .more is more.
