Spare me the bullshit please. I understand how people like to counter others with the literal definition of "Gay" IE "Homosexual".
Despite that, I do not like Mario's Bair. By the looks of it, we won't see any more Mario edge guarding with Bair.

Exactly. He kicked out his legs while in a horizontal position with his face facing the ground, and then curled back into a "ball" shape, and then went to his normal falling state. But in that screenie, Bair or not, it does look kinda gay.

Um, I doubt that's his "bair", what it looks like to me is he's in the middle of one of his jumps. He does do some pretty crazy ariel flipping if you pay attention. Mario does have a tenancy to put both arms out like that when he's executing a triple jump, although it's usually when he lands.

Final statement I'm going to make in this thread: That's Mario's bair and definitely not his fair. There are no aerial smashes, and I still think his bair can be used for edgeguarding.

For any of you who play Doc or Mario you'll quickly understand why that is NOT an attack.
In ALL of doc/mario 's attacks the attacking portion of their body is enhanced and blown out of proportion. A lot of characters have their proportions blown out of proportion, espescially when making well-ranged attacks like the one Mario WOULD be doing here, if it was actually an attack.
But it's not, simply because his legs nor his upper body are blown up or increased in size.

What about Mario's Dair and Nair? Those weren't affected by that effect. But it's pluasable that it may not be the case.
I never thought gay was a synonym for 'stupid',I (And many others) simply use it as a synonym for stupid, there's a complete difference. I'm pretty sure no one here could confuse the definitions of the words.

I say it's his Bair. Remember that now the characters look at each other while fighting, so Mario is just turning his head to see whoever he's trying to kick. That's what makes you think that it's his Fair.

What's so pathetic about forgetting a detail as small as what Mario's bair was in the original game? I mean, that game did come out about 10 years ago. And since Melee's release, the majority of people have just stuck to that and left SSB64 behind. If you've been playing nothing but Melee for the past 6 years, it would be pretty easy to forget something as insignificant as that. It doesn't mean you didn't play the first one; you've just cleared out that space in your mind for other things.
More the fact that it's been said at least 3 times it was his FAIR from 64, along with his FAIR from Melee both returning and people would rather go off on tangents about the word gay and forget the fundamentals of a game that you supposedly play "professionally".
It's a 10 year old game that still stands up well today and is where Smash began. Yes it is pretty bad when you forget all about it if you ask me.

Well, I guess therein lies the problem. Not everyone her does play professionally. If you play Smash as casually as, say, myself, then you just wouldn't remember something like that. Though, when someone did mention it the first time, it jogged my memory, so now I can picture it in my head again.
We're not talking about forgetting all about it though. Basically just one of Mario's old moves. I don't know, it just doesn't seem like a very big deal to me. People tend to forget things they haven't been exposed to for years and years. If someone had forgotten what Mario's attacks are in Melee then I think that might be a bigger issue.

It's possible it was just changed to his bair. This single frame isn't enough to detmine that. Falcon's old fair became his new nair.
Still is intersting though and I wouldn't be suprised if it became a nair??? I don't think it's possible to have arial smash attacks. DI would be affected too greatly.
