Fair enough. Quite a few of my RL friends were rather put off by the art style and said it just didn't "feel quite right". Sounds like I'm not in the minority any more.

On a side note, I was one of the lucky people to pick up the Majora's Mask Ultimate Bundle preorder before it sold out.

@ PKBeam PKBeam
I was put off by the style at first but just because I had been hyped by the dolphin tech demo which was link vs ganon in OoT art style. However, that didn't stop me from playing and enjoying the game. It was more of a disappointment than anything else.

I also got the bundle Pre-order luckily. I had to go to a gamestop to order it from the counter.

Ah so you are one of those people!
Makes sense.
At least you currently aren't one of those fans who are like
"iWant mY zelDa game derk bcause liek TP beCause anythng eLse is 4kids"
Wind Waker to me was so amazing, and I come from a unique perspective where I played TP before WW.
I still love TP, but the freedom WW gives you is amazing to me.

Also, you forgot your meme mate.

It funny, because you and I have the complete opposite opinion about PH vs ST. I saw ST simply as a inferior replica of PH. Of course PH was my first Zelda game so its possible I'm a bit biased.

@ PKBeam PKBeam

Wow wtf... PH was the only LoZ game that I had to force myself to finish. I wanted to throw the game in the trash and I wouldn't recommend it to any one. Seriously I'd like to launch every copy of PH into the sun. Yes you are biased, holy ****.

Phantom Hourglass was so bad though.....
It was an inferior version of Wind Waker, and had very little original or good songs...... Hell even the overworld music is just an nunispired ripoff off of WW's.....
Temple of the Ocean King was just terrible.....
The game was way too easy...
I was a Zelda game that was just uninspired......

Then you have Spirit Tracks.
It has one of the best soundtracks of any Zelda game, that kept an amazing overall musical theme throughout the entire game.
The Tower of Spirits was one of the most unique and clever dungeon designs in Zelda history, again with amazing music.
The character development was great within Spirit Tracks, with development for Zelda, and Byrne. Sure PH did have Lineback, who was one of the saving graces of PH... But Spirit Tracks does it slightly better.
Spirit Tracks has a ton of more darker themes than PH by far. Byrne makes up a ton of it.
Lore is a ton better as well, with the inclusion of Lokomo.
Graphics are vasly superior to PH, it was one of the best looking games on DS.
Combat was a lot harder than Phantom Hourglass.
The items were more unique in ST, having awesome item mainstays like the Whip and Sand Rod.
It was a Zelda game where you could actually play as Zelda.

I definitely agree that ST had the better soundtrack, and it did have better controls. There were so many other things that I feel PH did better, though.

For starters, traveling by boat was 100x better than by train. The train might have been interesting, but it made everything more difficult. It suddenly took you much longer to get places because you had to follow the tracks. And sometimes you couldn't even take the shortest route because of the stupid dark trains (personally I think that having an undefeatable enemy is poor game design). In PH you could just travel straight from point A to point B. And then there was warping. PH warping was simple, you just picked the warp point closest to where you wanted to go, drew the symbol, and hey presto. In ST You had to not only find the gate nearest to where you wanted to go, but also one that had an entrance near you. Plus it made obtaining the warp points more cumbersome because you had to find both matching gates instead of just one point.

Secondly, I preferred the temple of the ocean king over the tower of spirits. The whole thing simply felt more ominous, especially the lower you went. I also kinda liked having to do the same levels over again because it felt like it was challenging me to do it better and faster each time. In the tower of spirits, i never really felt all that challenged and i feel like the biggest innovation it had (Zelda controlling phantoms) was poorly used.

Byrne was a very poorly designed character in my opinion. I felt no remorse for him at the end because throughout the entire game there was practically nothing said about him and then they decided to dump his backstory on us at the very end. Linebeck was a much more interesting character because you got to see many sides of him throughout the game. You start out hating him, but by the end you grow to like him and feel a bit sad to see him go. He just had so much more character development throughout the game.

Also, fishing for treasure was way more fun than trying to catch bunnies. And having bunnies hopping on the water...what? Plus the bunny guy just creeped me out.

I disagree for many reasons, but I do not want to create a huge argument. Anyway

The perfect Zelda game would be Private Oasis from WW combined with the fishing pond from OoT. Just that, I would play that forever.

I can respect that. Sometimes we just gotta agree to disagree. To each his own and all that. I don't really want to start an argument either, never been the argumentative type.

Oh, I may have mentioned it earlier. Unfortunately it looks like Zelkam's picture didn't come through just right. Good thing there's no limit to these.

Ah I am playing Wind Waker HD again :3
It makes Ganondorf very happy to be playing it again, I got a little bit sidetracked from it with Smash and Hyrule Warriors, plus some other stuff.
Feels so good. Just beat the Wind Temple and am now in the Triforce quest.

I don't dislike Wind Waker - it grew on me overtime, but my only gripes about it came with how many invisible walls there were based around the story. It felt much more linear for the longest time, but when it opened up fully, then it was better with me.

Well, that and the fact that Link's head is bigger than the King of Red Lions. Heck, if he just flipped himself upside down and tied a sail to his feet, he'd probably be able to save a couple minutes from not having to board that boat.
Great soundtrack though.

Oh hey, Big Zam @ PKBeam PKBeam

What do you mean by "one of those people"? Also, if couldn't post the meme for @ PKBeam PKBeam because I was leaving the house, already in the car and so was second from being without an Internet connection. Had to act fast. To compensate however I shall post 2.

I did not mean any offense at all, by saying "one of those people". I can see why you and others did it, it was so jarringly different from MM and the tech demo. It is merely interesting.
You must have gone ape **** when they revealed TP.
Too bad the initial trailer wasn't what the real game was.......
Like I said, I love TP, but I feel really bad for the people that saw that trailer, waited 2+ years, and then didn't get what was promised. I am very glad myself I didn't see that trailer before getting the game.
Luckily Zelda Wii U seems to be fulfilling that promises that TP made

Yeah, it was a huge letdown since it was such a drastic change from the style the games were having. Also, I had the same thing with TP. The original TP trailer promised a freaking awesome game of epic proportions. Heck, it even had the best greeting of any reveal. Then the game came out and was...meh. I felt cheated as well.

The best thing about TP though was the ending IMHO. Best Zelda ending ever.

Yeah, Twilight Princess had so much more potential but I still really enjoyed the game. Wasn't what I would call the most challenging by any means but man did they make a good Ganondorf stabbing moment.
I did like that they incorporated training in sword techniques you could actually use. I think that was a brilliant addition we hadn't seen since Zelda II.

@ Lozjam Lozjam Hopefully that chest wound healed alright

Oh really? Then how do you explain this?

Certainly looks to me like the universe is falling apart now.

I just wanted to publicly thank Zelkam for making this picture for the survival guide.

Also, does anyone know if the tag thing gives multiple notifications if you do it multiple times in the one post? For example,

Hmmmm..... We need a poor sap that deserves to die and someone unexpecting..... How about the next idiot who makes a spam thread in these boards....

It'd make for an excellent addition to particularly rousing Welcome Parties™, or alternatively, we could use it as a special form of punishment for speaking Heretical Toon Linkery on our board.

Looks like we got ourselves a new AT boys.
The Link boards: Leading the development of the smashboards troll metagame.
Hmmm we can also use that firepower against whichever board Zelda's decide to raid next.....
Hmmmm interesting....
I say we should test this new weapon boys! I will make the arrangements, see what board is next, and come back here and relay information.

Soooooo start tagging him in every other board's social thread?
Wait....can we invade every other board's social thread? At once? Using @ PKBeam PKBeam as our reasoning?

Damn you! Good thing I did not visit Zelda's yet. So yet again, I'm here. We may strike tomorrow though, we need time to prepare.
