Format:

[COLLAPSE=""]Five to Seven Rounds of Swiss:

32 players or less: 5 Rounds of Swiss
33 to 64 players: 6 Rounds of Swiss
More than 64 players: 7 Rounds of Swiss

All players are paired together randomly for the first round. They all play their matches, and report the results. Those who won their game in the first round receive 1 point and those who lost receive 0 points. Players with the same score are then paired together randomly for round 2. Repeat the process for round 3, etc. After 5 to 7 rounds of Swiss, players will be properly seeded for the following portion of the tournament.

Less than 64 players: Top 16
64 or more players: Top 32 advance
Top 16/32 seeded players advance to double elimination bracket

If 2 players tie for last seed of 16/32 they will play a tiebreaker match, if 3 to 5 players tie they will play a round robin pool. If more than 5 players tie for a spot in the bracket it will be ranked by Opponents Win Percentage (OWP) this will be calculated by software. All other seeding will automatically be done by software.

All players are guaranteed at least five matches, you are only out of the regular tournament when the five rounds are completed and you do not make it into Top 16/32.[/COLLAPSE]

Amateur Bracket:

[COLLAPSE=""]Any players who do not make it into the regular double elimination bracket are eligible to compete in a double elimination Amateur Bracket. At least 8 players need to enter for AB to occur.

The AB is about pride and gaining experience with players at a similar level.
There will be a $1 buy in which will go toward the venue fees. Avoiding circumstances where skilled players abuse the AB and keeping the regular entree fees down are the primary reasons for not paying out the top 3 of AB. Winner of Amateur Bracket will get their $1 back and enter the following LIMBO for a discounted rate of $5 for singles [/COLLAPSE]

Rules:
[COLLAPSE=""]- ALL GAMEPLAY WILL BE DEMO 2.1
* 4 stock, 8 minutes.
* Sets are best of 3. Finals are best of 5.
* Items off
*Doubles Team Attack is ON, LIFE stealing is allowed.
* Buffer OFF
* No custom textures or music. It’s freaking annoying. For real I'll delete that jank when you aren't looking.
* Either player may call for a Double Blind character selection for the first match.
* Dave's Modified Rule: A player may not counterpick the last stage he won on in a set.
* Controller port is determined by Rock Paper Scissors if it can't be agreed upon. For doubles, the controller ports must be 1-2-2-1.
* If time runs out, the person with the most stock left (or least % if they are equal) wins. If the % is equal as well, play a 1 stock 3 minute match, same characters and stage.
* If the match goes to sudden death due to a suicide move (Ganon's side-B, Kirby/DDD's swallow, holding someone in a grab on a platform as it moves out of the boundaries, etc.), the one who initiated the move wins.
* If you are caught cheating with modified game files, you will be immediately DQed without refund
* No excessive stalling (this includes abusing Jiggs' Rising Pound and Mario's Up-B Walljump)
* Both players may agree to any rule or stage outside the tournament ruleset.
*Bring your own controller
[/COLLAPSE]

Official set procedure:
[COLLAPSE=""]1. Both players select their character for ROUND 1. Either player may call for a Double Blind* at this time.
2. The stage for ROUND 1 will be selected through STAGE STRIKING*, unless a stage/random is agreed upon by both players.
3. ROUND 1 is played.
4. The winner of the previous round announces which group of stages he is banning. Out of the other 4 groups the loser decides a counter pick stage. Bans can’t be changed during the set.
5. The winner of the previous round chooses their character for the next round.
6. The loser of the previous round chooses their character for the next round.
7. After Round 2 Dave’s Stupid Rule* applies
8. If both players agree, any rule may be altered/changed, excluding the 8 minute time limit, rounds per set, and bracket rules.
* Double Blind: All participating players must tell an official the character they will use for that game. Each player is required to use that character in the first game.
* The order of stage striking will be 1-2-2-1. (Player 1 strikes one stage, followed by Player 2 striking two stages, followed by Player 1 striking two stages, ending with Player 2 striking one of the two remaining stages). The round is played on the remaining stage.
* Dave's Stupid Rule: The loser/counterpicking player may NOT choose to counterpick the stage they last won on in the set.[/COLLAPSE]

Tentative Stagelist:
[COLLAPSE=""]For the 1st match, stage strike the starter list. After the 1st match, each player bans a stage group for the remainder of the set (Players may counterpick a stage from the group they banned, and both players may ban the same group). The player who lost the previous match chooses a stage, then the player who won chooses their character, then the player who lost chooses their character.
