Very well done in emulating Kira, TRG. I felt like I was watching Yagami Light the whole game. dabuz I loved your RPing xD.

Let me know what you guys would change about this game. I have many other death note games in my head. Don't think I'd run this game again. Though I was thinking of running the next one with a similar format but with the ability to freely communicate with each other privately.

Preciate it! As soon as I saw my role pm I practically **** myself.

When I got the pm I knew right off the bat that I was going to have to play a more aggressive role than how I was accustomed to playing in my first mafia game. My overall goal was to build a solid foundation of trust while building enough credibility to have somewhat of a say in who should go and who shouldn't. At first I thought this was going to be an uphill battle since I was the "newbie" among the group but after a while I figured out a strategy that would work in my favor...

The way I executed this strategy was simple. All I had to do was figure out who the most influential players were and do whatever I could to get them on my side. In the context of this game those two players were Gheb and Dabuz. So how could I build credibility while getting those 2 on my side? I just confirmed them as town without making it too obvious that I KNEW they were town. My first power play was on Gheb when I made up that one ridiculous post about why Gheb was most likely town (the one where everyone said the pressure aspect of it was bad). I didn't care what anyone else though of the post; all I was just trying to do was get Gheb on my side by making him think I was making sense. With Dabuz I simply kept propping him up with compliments and appreciating his conviction to move the game forward. After I had the 2 strongest players on my side everything else was pretty much smooth sailing from there.

Gheb's reluctance to ID anyone makes me think he's almost guaranteed a detective (town).

Either that or he's playing some very strange mindgames with us right now... Since I'm new here I don't know his play style (or anyone else's for that matter) so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
TRG was super quick to clear people as town, he town cleared Gheb almost right away and cleared Hando early on too.

(up to page 4) One of the things I should have noticed from TRG is that he was trying to make everyone else do the work. Asking questions like: "what do you think?" or "Do you agree?"

Lets get some activity going the more we communicate and work together the harder it is for Kira to hide and not risk making a mistake.

Badwolf is the only player not contributing.

Badwolf is most likely Kira.

Discuss.
Who's your scum read so far then?

Also should have noticed the serious suspicion of BW being Kira for a...bad reason.

Probably should have pressured TRG more when he made a backdoor about his read on Gheb.

(Page 5) This is where my read as TRG was cemented hard, I presumed that he isn't experienced and therefore should be easy to read if he's Kira. Definitely let my guard down on him there.

I'm still down for voting Phazon out. He's literally non-existant.

This should have been a red flag for me since inactivity is not a reason to vote, then followed by a drop in pressuring BW to say that the inactive slot is a better vote...ugh *Facepalms*

So with that being said here's the 3 players that didn't vote for PA: Gheb, Hando, and Badwolf... And now that I'm looking at those names I find it very interesting that my top 2 scum reads are within that group.

Should have saw this slip because you didn't really mention Hando earlier on.

Agreed. Hando's play thus far seems very calculated, albeit stubborn. Gun to my head Badwolf is the more likely culprit. Hell he's always been #1 on my Kira radar.

Vote: Badwolf
Yeah, definitely a bad slip I didn't catch.

Overall TRG played well but I ignored a few things I should have pressured TRG hard on. I figured that as a newbie, he would be a super obvious Kira and that he would have a surface level mindset as town...how wrong I was v.v;

Yeah after I while I was pretty surprised to find out that being a newbie actually worked in my favor rather than against it. My newb persona allowed me to get away with a bunch of crap that I knew wouldn't fly if I wasn't (like that long post about Gheb for example).

Naturally I'll have to change my playstyle in my next mafia game cause I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm not gonna be able to get away with appealing to my newb persona anymore. xD

Setup wise, the big thing is definitely having a deadline, that would have fixed a lot of issues and meant Zen could enforce prodding to keep this game moving. I liked the way killing works but think 2 misshots is a HUGE boon because essentially Kira could win with more than half the playerlist still alive and missing 1 shot isn't too big of a deal. That or I would definitely love to see some detective PRs (nothing powerful) like the ability to check one name to see if it's fake. BTW, somehow incorporating Mikasa (I think that's her name) would be awesome.

Player summary:

Phazon Assassin - You're the only person in this game that I didn't really get a feel for, so I can't really say much other than I hope you can be more active the next time you play.

BSL - You never really showed much of an interest in this game and were a bit too quick to express how unsure of yourself you were at times. Gotta be more confident in your ability to make reads man. As Kira your uncertainty made a nice curtain for me to hide behind (in other words it was one less person I had to worry about in terms of raising suspicion).

Gheb - Sometimes I felt as though you and me were the only players having fun with this game lol. I honestly saw you as the biggest threat to me when you were proposing the idea of refusing to put anyone on the lie detector, because I wanted everyone at each other's throats. If everyone actually went with your plan I probably would have gotten irritated enough to the point where I would have eventually slipped. Still not sure why more people didn't listen to you. I really enjoyed playing with you overall and hope I get to do so again sometime.

Hando - You were just so damn confusing to me throughout this entire game lol. I never knew where your head was at, but overall your suspicious play made it a bit too easy for me to point a finger at though. By the time Dabuz figured out you were town it was already too late. Only thing I could suggest is to lessen up a bit on the reluctance to help the town.

Badwolf - You and I butted heads quite a few times but I really hope you didn't take anything personally; it was all just an act. The reason I kept intentionally getting on your nerves was because you made it waaaaay too easy for me to do so. Right from the get go I could tell you let your emotions get the best of you sometimes. Once I painted you as "the angry guy" it wasn't that difficult to get rid of you. Just try to keep a level head man. Gotta remember at its core Mafia is just a game after all. Oh and work on applying more pressure.

Dabuz - You were a blast to play with. I really enjoyed your role playing moments and once you started grilling everything suspicious that came up it forced me to think twice before I posted. I can't critique your game at all cause you honestly did nothing wrong really... Just picked the wrong person to trust. :3 I'd love to play again with you sometime as well.

Even though I won I'm still learning and want to sharpen my game so if anyone has any critiques for me I'd love to hear them.

I was actually pretty convinced it was Dabuz, especially with his posts after I died.

As for the confidence, I had NO idea what to. If we played again, I would still be lost. I just can't wrap my head around how to play this one.

If I had an idea I would've rolled with it and been more confident, but I didn't have anything to feign confidence with.

You could've at least waited for me to post something

:059:

I wanted to tbh but I couldn't risk you, Hando, and Dabuz quick lynching me before I could finish my remaining attacks.

Speaking of being paranoid you guys have no idea how difficult it was for me to send my attacks in to Zen since I never enabled the option for my online status to remain hidden. One of my biggest fears in this game was having someone check when I was last online and notice that I was currently in a "conversation" with Zen. I would have turned my online status off mid game but that would have been suspicious as **** so I pretty much put myself in a corner on that one.

Good job, TRG. I had a lingering suspicion, but as you can see, I had bigger fish to fry. I've only skimmed the last bit because I'm still super busy. I'm just sitting in class right now.

As already said, some sort of deadline is needed. I order for there to be deadlines, there needs to be some sort of action. This should be some sort of RPG element, such as moving locations or looking around for people, or whatever. This allows us to look for Kira in another way. Right now we have a perpetual D1 of mafia where no one wants to do anything. You can't really convict anyone of being Kira like in mafia because there is nothing to draw from there posts. Well, of course that isn't true, but I mean it's on an individual basis. What would X do as Kira? Is that Kira like for him? You can conclude anyone is definetley kira. So you take a shot. It's likely wrong and you continue. So I think adding other elements to allow detectives to do more than speak and Kira to slip up is essential.

I know that sounded pretty scatter brained, but I can't organize my thoughts right now.

This is how I felt, so it made sense to me.

This game had a lot of potential. Will we see a re-run sometime in the future?

Yeah I'm going to try a few different Death Note games. What would you suggest in order to improve this game specifically?

Sorry, I've been out all weekend. I'll think about a couple of things soon though that could improve the game.
