1. Blaze the Cat (Rush was a good game, but it was the comics that sold her and Silver to me as characters. I've not read a lot of it, but for what I have read, they've been genuinely adorable and funny. I'd love to see THAT Blaze in the game, personally. I also think she can make for a unique character in terms of moves and all that.)
2. Metal Sonic (Not putting Metal Sonic at number one breaks my heart, but I can say that the competition is really steep. Truthfully, I think Metal Sonic is cool and would be one of the best villain characters you could get for a game like this. I can also imagine you could do something with the claws and laser to make him stand out over Sonic.)
3. Knuckles (I can see his victory coming a mile away, but I can't say it isn't deserved. This was gonna be an uphill battle for everyone else. Knuckles is honestly just as iconic as Sonic. I would say. The first video game I had ever played was my brother's copy of Sonic & Knuckles. I think he's also the only Sonic character to have his own spin-off game starring him. It's probably right to put him in base, but I'm gonna use my vote to boost the other two big names first if I can.)

Any of these could have been my number one on any other round. If I could give these all the number one spot, I would. Amy Rose just barely misses it for me, although I think she's a fun character and the hammer has real potential for moves.

1. Knuckles - I can't help it, he's my absolute boy and I love seeing him in anything. Even to this day, as silly as it is, whenever Knuckles gets into a Sonic game I'm like "Yo they put KNUCKLES in here??". Helps that S3K is my favorite Sonic game bar none.

2. Jet the Hawk - Oddball choice, but the hoverboard is an extremely cool moveset concept, I can't lie. Gotta drop it some votes.

3. Amy Rose - She's been in longer than some and she has a whole hammer-based moveset that could be a lot of fun. I'd love to see her get in down the line.

Knuckles Moveset:
Knuckles is a very fast and powerful fighter. However, he can't have them both at once. While he has fast movements, he has slow but powerful attacks. He is a middleweight like Sonic. If he glides into a wall, he can wall cling and wall climb for a few seconds.
His playstyle is "Footsies", which a lot of his Attacks are most likely Melee.

  • Crawl: No
  • Wall Cling: Yes
  • Wall Jump: Yes
  • standard two jumps
His Attacks:
  • Jab: Knuckles punches with his right hand, then with his left fist, and finishes with a uppercut.
  • Dash: Knuckles spins horizontally with his fists in-front of him while leaving a fiery trail.
  • Side Tilt: Knuckles pushes both his fists forward at the same time to shove opponents back.
  • Up Tilt: Knuckles does a large sweeping uppercut.
  • Down Tilt: Knuckles performs a low punch while crouching.
  • Forward Smash: Knuckles pulls his fist back and then releases a very powerful explosive punch.
  • Up Smash: Knuckles jumps into the air and delivers a twisting fiery uppercut with his left fist.
  • Down Smash: Knuckles punches the ground with great force, stunning opponents far away from him or knocking them when close.
  • Neutral Aerial: Knuckles can do similar Sonic's where he grows into a ball and spins erratically.
  • Forward Aerial: Knuckles executes a downward chop.
  • Back Aerial: Knuckles can ne a quick horizontal elbow jab backwards that he holds for a second. This comes his backwards ramp attack from Sonic Advance 2.
  • Up Aerial: Knuckles does a quick staight punch upwards. It was poor horizontal range but it hits hard vertically.
  • Down Aerial: Knuckles does a quick weak aerial jab similar to Ryu's.
Grabs and Throws:
Grab: Knuckles grabs the opponent with his left hand.
Pummel: Knuckles punches the opponent's gut with his right fist.
Forward Throw: Knuckles will spin the foe in hand and then send them forwards. Just he does in Sonic Heros or the Kunckels Sanwiches on Sonic Chronicles.
Back Throw: Knuckles picks the opponent up, turns around and "lasso-throws" them backward.
Up Throw: Knuckles throws the opponent into the air and then points at them, shooting a lightning bolt which strikes 3 times at them.
Down Throw: Knuckles pins the opponent down, and then repeatedly punches them.

Specials + Allstar Move:
Neutral Special: Homing Attack - Acts like Sonic's one, but it's stronger and slower.

Side Special: Rock Throw (Ground)/Glide (Mid-Air):
- Rock Throw: Knuckles thrusts his arms into the ground and he pulls a Rock and throws it further straightforward at opponents. Knuckles can pull a random sized rock from ground. The lightest goes faster, but it has small damage.
The medium goes normally and it has decent knockback.
The Biggest goes slow and has short range, but huge damage and knockback.

- Glide: Knuckles glides in air like in games. He can turn into other side while Gliding in 2 directions. He can damage opponent in Air. Some attacks can interrupt his Special, which it could cause him to stop, especially when he is interrupted in Mid-Air.

Up Special: Spiral Upper - Knuckles charges his fist with Fire and does a Deadly uppercut in air while shooting out the Fire from his hand. The Fire gives opponents Fire/Flame effect, which it could burn.

Down Special: Borrow - Knuckles digs underground for 6 Seconds and when the time is over, he digs out of the Ground, doing a Deadly uppercut that deals heavy damage.
Be careful where you stand or else Knuckles will send you out of the ring!

Allstar move: Super Knuckles - When activated, Knuckles gathers all Chaos Emeralds around him and he turns Pink and it acts like Super Sonic in Brawl and SSB4, where you control it.

Alts:
1. Default Red
2. Sonic Blue
3. Tails Yellow
4. Sticks Orange
5. Espio Puprle
6. Vector Green
7. Real Brown (Reference to Real Animal known as Echidna)
8. Boom Knuckles

Taunts:
Up Taunt: Knuckles gets shocked and says: "Oh No!"
Side Taunt: Knuckles looks in front of him and behind him, checking if something's okay. Later he shrugs.
Down Taunt: Crosses his arms and does his pose while he rises his fist.

Idle 1: Knuckles shows his fist for his fighting stance.
Idle 2: Knuckles beats both his fists while being ready to fight.

Victory poses:
Victory 1. Knuckles does a Shadow Box then gives a thumbs up while saying "Yeah I feel good."
Victory 2: Knuckles turn around, wipe off his leg, then look the camera while doing a fist bump and say "Phew! That was pretty tough."
Victory 3: Knuckles is seen resting upon the Master Emerald, suddenly waking up and then scratches his head.
Lose pose: Knuckles Claps with he has an angry face.

Knuckles would be voice acted by Travis Willingham, but he could use some lines taken from upcoming Sonic Movie 2 like "Do I look I need your power"?
(Credit to Iggyfan111 on SmashMovestsFanon for his moveset and I added some stuff to make it bit original)

There will be absolutely no chuckling in this moveset, I guarantee.

Job #131: Knuckles Moveset

Basic Playstyle:
Knuckles is Sonic's rival and in many ways the antithesis of the blue blur. Whilst Sonic relies on his speed to rack up combo damage, Knuckles attacks are slower but have far more power behind them.

As a guardian, Knuckles prefers to shut down approaches rather than do any chasing around the battlefield himself.

Knuckles' Basic moves:
Knuckles' basic moves consist of spin dashes for his dash attacks and of course, using those famous fists of his.

His basic jab combo is considerably more powerful than most other's basic attacks, although his punches will cause bigger pushback due to their force, meaning he won't combo enemies as well as Sonic or Tails.

Knuckles dodge animation...isn't a dodge. He actually pushes enemies to the side of him, causing THEM to dodge his body with their attacks.

For Knuckles' shield he places his hand out in front of him, blocking any attack coming at him. Yes, it's taken from the movie. It's very cool.

Knuckles has strong basic physical attacks, below medium jump, high stamina, medium weight, above average speed and slow falling(due to his gliding).

Knuckles has the special ability to climb walls, allowing him to recover from falls that may seem impossible for less seasoned climbers.

Whilst most of Knuckles' basic moves are short range, Knuckles' grab has a surprisingly long range. For his throws Knuckles will throw a bound ring out and hold onto another. Anyone who gets snagged by the thrown ring will be bound to Knuckles briefly via the Knuckles' Chaotix Bound Ring. With Knuckles' superior strength, he will use this ring connection to throw opponents by spinning them around him, slam them into the ground or yank them closer to get them close for a pummelling. The downside is if the ring misses, Knuckles will be left wide open as he is unable to move for a moment when throwing the bound rings out.

Knuckles can swim in water, although it behaves more like his glide, slowly sinking.

Special attacks:
Neutral Special: Volcanic Dunk
Taken from Sonic Heroes, Knuckles will charge up a punch by swinging his fist similar to Donkey Kong in Smash Bros. However, Knuckles will instead smash the floor with enough force to create a volcanic explosion, spewing fireballs into the air.

Down Special: Dig
With Knuckles' claw like knuckles, he can temporarily dig under ground to avoid enemy attacks, or prepare a surprise attack. When he returns he'll unleash a powerful uppercut that will have him leap into the air, smashing his hapless opponent in the chin.
This move is extremely powerful when it connects, but there is some start up time for when Knuckles jumps up, and he'll be wide open after that initial punch, allowing enemies to punish if he whiffs the uppercut.
Dig can also be used in the air, allowing Knuckles to dive bomb enemies from above, doing decent damage as he plummets towards the floor.

Side Special: Heavy Throw
Knuckles will pick up Heavy from Knuckle's Chaotix and throw him. Heavy is...well, Heavy. And anyone who is unlucky enough to get crushed underneath this robot is in for a bad time. This move has a quick start up but Knuckles is left in the throwing animation for a few moments after lobbing Heavy.

Once Heavy is thrown he works as an item, capable of being picked up by opponents and thrown to deal huge damage. Knuckles has a slight advantage here as his speed whilst holding Heavy is less effected than the other fighters, a testament to his strength.

If Heavy is on stage already, using this side special will have Knuckles throw a chunk of rock from the ground at the opponent instead. The rock cannot be picked up and thrown back as it smashes upon landing on stage and deals considerably less damage than Heavy does.

After ten seconds Heavy will disappear. If Heavy is thrown off stage, Knuckles will throw Heavy again the next time he uses this move.

Up Special: Glide

Knuckles will do a slight homing attack into the air and begin gliding. The glide has no vertical properties, but has easily the best horizontal recovery in the game. Combined with his wall climb ability, it can be useful for getting back on stages with thick stage platforms.

Gliding into an opponent will cause Knuckles to deal slight damage as his fists collide with them, although this is his weakest punch based move.

Knuckles' recovery is a mixed bag, seeing as he can recover easily providing he's above the stage with the glide, but if thrown below his weaker jumps will doom him.

All Star Move: Hyper Knuckles
Knuckles' will wind up a punch, throwing it forward. This punch will send Knuckles sailing across the stage.

If he hits his opponent, an emerald shard will pop out of them, spinning through the air and landing in Knuckles' hand. He will reassemble the Master Emerald, before punching his fists together and unleashing his fury with a wild flurry of rage-infused punches into the hapless enemy, before sending them flying with one last teeth gritting punch. He then wipes his brow, breathing a sigh of relief that the Emerald is safe at last.

Misc:
Entrance animation: Glides in and lands with his fist smashing into the ground. Stands up and slams his fists together.

Idle animation: Knuckles remains alert the entire time, fists at the ready but looking around.

Taunts:
Taunt 1:
Knuckles slams his fists together.
Taunt 2: The Emerald finder radar appears above Knuckles' head as he looks around.
Taunt 3: Knuckles boxes the air

Victory Animations:
Victory animation 1:
Knuckles breaths a sigh of relief, carrying the Master Emerald back to his island.
Victory animation 2: Knuckles rests atop the Master Emerald happily
Victory animation 3: Knuckles guards the Master Emerald, looking around frantically with his thief senses tingling, whilst Rouge the Bat drops from the ceiling on a rope, grabs the Emerald, winks at the camera and is pulled back up.

Losing animation: Knuckles tries to take the Master Emerald back but it shatters into shards. He dejectedly sighs and lets his arms hang down loose.

Palettes:
Knuckles-Palette-Swap.png

Palette 1: Knuckles the Echidna
Palette 2: Super/Hyper Knuckles
Palette 3: Shade the Echidna
Palette 4: Tikal the Echidna
Palette 5: Metal Knuckles (Sonic R)
Palette 6: Bark the Polar Bear (Tails has Bean since they share bombs, Knuckles is basically Bark's counterpart)
Palette 7: Mecha Knuckles (Sonic Advance)
Palette 8: Mighty the Armadillo

Alright, it's time to vote on Knuckles' moveset!

Here are our movesets:

Tankman from Newgrounds Tankman from Newgrounds ' moveset
YoshiandToad YoshiandToad 's moveset

Here's the poll:

I think we're also in the clear to start up our next job:

Job #132: Submit an NPC role for us to later assign a SEGA character to

So remember the jobs where we submitted characters to fill certain NPC roles? Well we're doing one more of those, but I wasn't quite sure what to do next. Our first two were rather obvious choices if we do stuff like this, but after that, there's a multitude of paths we can take. So I'm turning to you!

This job revolves around submitting potential NPC roles we can do jobs for. Then we'll begin voting, and we'll do a job for whichever one wins. ok now bye

Job #132:
Minigame Host

Minigame Host is a person, who runs the Minigame gallery. You see, we have Minigame section in Battle of AGES, so we could have a Minigame Host in our game, so this concept brings you here to making a new NPC role known as Minigame Host.

Here are Examples, who could work as Minigame host:
1. Dr. Games (We never had him in Game, so he could work)
2. SEGA Chan (Could work due to being a Peripheral)
3. SEGA Hard Girls (Could also work)
4. LOPIT (She is not from game, but still could work due to being a Host in SEGA Joypolis)
5. Professor Asobin (Again, he is our Menu Guide, but still could work as Minigame host)

(Is this what you were talking about? Or am I wrong? Just tell me for God's Sake!)

Job 132:
Mini-Boss

Mini-Bosses are type of Bosses that are weaker than Boss itself. Mini-Bosses are Depicted as bigger versions of enemies or different character like Metal Sonic for example.
Mini-Bosses trope appears in a lot of games like Mario and Sonic for example.

I have some examples for Mini-Bosses in Battle of AGES:
1. Metal Sonic (Sonic)
2. Barbarian (Space Harrier) (Despite he was a Boss or enemy character, he could fall under Mini-Boss Category)
3. Kage-Maru (Virtua Fighter)
4. Lovers Type (The House of the Dead)
5. Gooseka (Alex Kidd) (Despite being a Boss character, he could fall into Mini-Boss category)

Mini-Bosses could appear in "Unknown for now" Story Mode, which you need to defeat them to unlock paths to further missions. They acts as obstacle that blocks you way.
Hey so this kinda thing isn't really what I'm looking for with this prompt - and for the last time, we're not doing a story mode - so I'm gonna have to say no to this submission

Sorry, but I don't have any ideas for NPC.
Too bad, plus it if we cut the Story Mode thing, the Submissions would address something, but still it's not close what you wanted.

Job 132: Mission Giver

Every so often (Once a month for example), this mysterious NPC will appear and drop additional tasks on the player.

Upon beating these missions, players will be rewarded with cash, rare Capsule toys and music CDs that are unobtainable from Nugget's shop and in some very rare cases an additional alternate costume.

Missions can vary greatly with some being simple stage battles (Example: As Vyse defeat Selvaria Bles in a hard battle at the Ghirlandaio Citadel in under 1 minute to save Gallia!) to the more ridiculous (Example: Hold onto Seaman for a whole minute, and avoid a Big the Cat assist attempt to fish him off of you three times!).

I think this would be fun for us to come up with weird Mission ideas that pay homage to Sega's history and give us a NPC that functions differently from either Asobin or Nugget's current roles.

Edit: Some clarification might be needed as some questions were asked about this particular role;

Whilst we already have a mission mode in the base game, the Mission Giver would give out missions similar to how Smash Ultimate has Spirit Events, with more missions coming over time.

The missions aren't set in a specialist stage exactly like Event Mode in Smash, but the Mission Giver will hand out the details of what to do and if it occurs at any point(in a normal vs battle, in arcade mode, or even in the minigames) whilst playing, players will unlock the rewards.

It's probably more akin to unlocking an Achievement only with additional rewards of capsule toys, cash, CDs and rare alts if that makes sense!

Capsule Toy submissions based on hardware:

SEGA-Chan
  • Series: SEGA Peripherals
  • First Appearance: SEGA Peripherals ??/??/1980's (Presumably 1982)
- System Debut: Real Life Peripheral

Description Entry: SEGA-Chan is one of Obscure SEGA peripherals that ever existed. Some of you actually could remember seeing it as a kid in 1980's, but after that time, it faded into Obscurity for very long time. If you knew it, you were lucky, since SEGA-Chan is a Robot, who stands 151 Centimeters and weighs 190 Kg, which is nearly tall as Normal human in comparison. SEGA-Chan can recognize your voice easily, her legs can spin 360° around, which is very cool.
As you know about SEGA-chan, the one of most obscure SEGA peripherals ever existed, now it belongs to your Collection of Capsule Toys.

Light Phaser
  • Series: SEGA Peripherals
  • First Appearance:
SEGA Master System Peripheral (1986)
- System Debut: SEGA Master System

Description: Bang Bang, "I've got you" (Just Kidding). Light Phaser is one of SEGA Master System's Peripheral that resembled a real gun, but no worries, it was a Light Gun that you could shoot at you TV to pretend that you shoot to random obstacles like Enemies for example.
Light Phaser is one of SEGA's 80's Peripherals that are less known, but unlike SEGA-chan, Light Phaser is Console Peripheral, which you use it when playing a game.
Light Phaser had similar name to other Light Guns that were made, but I'm not gonna tell their names depending to Copyright, but still Light Phaser was inspired by Nintendo's NES Zapper.
Light Phaser now belongs to your Collection of Capsule Toys, but I hope it won't be a real gun or else you'll shoot someone if it was working. Better think before grabbing a "gun".

Okay I made a slight edit to my Mission Giver submission as some have asked me for a little clarification. I know it's quite late into this round, but if you're curious check it out.

Just so this isn't a total wasted post though, I'll fill up on some retro Capsule toys:
  • Teddy Boy
    • Series: Teddy Boy
    • First Appearance: Teddy Boy Blues (Pre-June, 1985)
    • System Debut: Arcade
Teddy Boy Blues was an arcade title by the creator of Flicky. It's the first known game by Sega to have an officially licensed track by Japanese pop star Yoko Ishino who coincedentally co-stars in the arcade game alongside Teddy Boy. The two are trapped within a maze full of monsters, but fortunately Teddy Boy has a special weapon; a gun that can capture the monsters, shrinking them and turning them into harmless balls for him to collect.
  • Egle
    • Series: Alex Kidd
    • First Appearance: Pit Pot (1985)
    • System Debut: Master System
Alex Kidd's brother is somewhat of a hero himself. Whilst Alex was up on Mt. Eternal training for seven years completely unaware he was a royal prince, Egle was both a prince and a royal knight of Radaxian, rescuing damsels from sorcerors and fighting off monsters such as dragons, cyclops and goblins with the sorcerors misplaced magic hammer. He even met his fiancee, Princess Lora here. After the disappearance of his father, King Thunder, Egle takes on the royal duties of ruling Radaxian alongside Lora.
  • Flicky
    • Series: Flicky/Sonic the Hedgehog
    • First Appearance: Flicky (May 1984)
    • System Debut: Arcade
This small blue bird was tasked with rescuing the hapless Chirps, a group of baby chickens, who had somehow found their way into a young woman's apartment. Flicky must rescue the chirps whilst fighting off a cat called Tiger and an iguana called Iggy, both of whom have developed a taste for chicken. After the succesful rescue of the chirps, Flicky led a peaceful life...until Dr. Eggman appeared and started using him and his brethren as living batteries for his badniks. Luckily Sonic the Hedgehog rescued him, and these days Flicky can be seen hanging around with the blue blur.

Alright, I think it's time we finish the vote. And the next NPC we do will be:

Minigame: 5 points
Sound: 4 points
Dummy: 10 points
Mission: 14 points
Curator: 0 points

The Mission Giver will be our next NPC role to feature a SEGA character!!!

And now we'll do the respective job:

Job #133: Submit a SEGA character to fill the role of "mission giver"

Of course, this is what we're doing now!

......I do think it's worth mentioning something, though:

In the thread's Discord server, we discussed the mission giver pitch with the guy who submitted it in the first place, YoshiandToad YoshiandToad . And the thing is, we generally agreed that the original pitch was a bit confusing. Thankfully, he's changed up his post so that it's a bit clearer now, and you can check it out above. But the gist of it is, the monthly missions this character will give out are separate from the mission mode we already have.

But now who's gonna give out said missions? Who's gonna pop in every once in a while to give us something new to do? Well that's what we'll figure out in this job!

Elizabeth (Persona 3)

There are a few Persona characters who came to mind for this job (Futaba, for instance), but given that the Social Link for the Velvet Room attendants in Persona games seem to involve completing random requests for them by bringing them Personas with certain skills, I thought they were the best fit.

Out of the Velvet Room attendants, Elizabeth seems to be the most well-known (at the very least, she was the only one who made it into the base game of Persona 4 Arena, whereas Margaret wasn't added until DLC for the upgraded Ultimax version), and her quirky nature and tendency to mess up figures of speech could make getting and completing missions more entertaining.

Job 133: The Witch (Shining Force II)

1642638974076.png

The Witch is an NPC in Shining Force II that starts the game and helps manage your save files. You speak with her at the start of the game to select difficulty levels, load, save, and adjust other options. Throughout the game she's seen in the main menu as well as during save management, always a mysterious but helpful presence. By the end of the game, it's revealed that she is the Goddess Mitula, an important figure in Shining Force lore that often helps guide heroes and by completing the game you save her from being trapped in the forest.

I think she would make for an interesting mission giver, as it suits her role from her original game while also providing representation for a great game in a great series.

Job #133: Klug (Puyo Puyo Fever)
1642656924763.png

Klug is a major side character in Puyo Puyo Fever and later games, on top of being a major know-it-all. He's a hard-working student at Primp Magic School who aims to be the greatest dark magician in the future. For all his arrogance, Klug has the skills to back it up and is a talented spellcaster able to plan ahead of most other characters and acts as a source of exposition for protagonists even if they don't always see eye to eye.

1642657630150.png

By reading from the borrowed library book that he keeps renewing, Klug would occasionally give players missions that supposedly test their intelligence, using a hefty amount of gratuitous Latin for good measure. While he got some character development from his earlier appearances, Klug is still not used to things not going according to his predictions, leading to some funny interactions if the missions he gave got higher points than he anticipated.

Omochao

Omochao is an Infamous character in the Sonic franchise who is known to give out tips and tricks in several sonic games

Omochao's role as an information giver would translate well to a mission giver. Omochao would give you the missions pretty straight without much flair but would occasionally crash into the grouind while giving the info.

Mission Giver:
Dr. Games (SEGA)

Dr. Games
is one of former Unofficial SEGA Mascots, who appeared after Prof. Asobin. Dr. Games is a Human Professor that was Asobin's temporary replacement in 1984.
Like his predecessor, Games Hakase was printed towards the back of SG-1000 manuals, giving short pieces of advice to players. He is a short man with moustache and a walking stick, who wears a monacle and a string bow tie. Unlike Asobin, the character was never officially drawn in colour.
Games Hakase was retired just months after his debut, with Professor Asobin returning for Sega Card and early Sega Mark III games. The concept of a character giving gaming advice had been removed completely from Sega manuals by 1988, and both characters would rarely be seen for the next 30 years. Games Hakase was never printed in any manuals released outside of Japan, though in more recent times, he has re-emerged as an obscure Sega icon, appearing in limited runs of merchandise.
Like mentioned earlier, Dr. Games is one of Obscure and Forgotten SEGA characters that existed in 1980's.

In Battle of AGES, he wouldbe Mission Giver that could give you missions. Any Mission, including the Main and Side ones. When you complete them, he would reward you with Capsule toy. He also gives you info about the missions like mentioning how to do it without any problems.
He also says how much points you got after doing some missions to progress more in the Game.

I nominate Dr. Games, because he could be another character from 80's like Asobin, but instead of being a menu guide character, he could be mission giver, which his role and character would fit like a puzzle. Despite being obscure character, he could make a huge comeback as Mission Giver.

Hey out there, this is Tokyo's very own, #1, pirate radio station, JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

DJ Professor K is the voice of the titular pirate radio station in Jet Set Radio. He frequently appears in the cutscenes, letting you know about every rival gang or authoritative figure on your tail in the series. He is your biggest ally in every single Jet Set Radio game, constantly playing music and passing on all intel that he has to the GGs.

While he does contact the team directly in Future, I'm imagining all missions being laid out in the form of his regular radio broadcast, with entertaining scenes where he's not asking you directly to do the mission, but broadcasting what the event is that's happening that month. He welcomes all listeners to get in on the action while it is available. This would leave things up to you if you want to do it for fun, making it clear that this isn't anything urgent while giving the dedicated fans of the game something to look forward to every month.
