I am guilty of wasting Hundreds upon hundreds of hours on this game, most people ask "Whats your favorite rpg?" and of course they'd exspect some-sort of FF answer, but nope, got to go dragoon. Rumor of a sequal rose a couple years ago (or a remake) then it faded/died. It seems this to be the one game Squaresoft (SquareEnix) should have made several sequals to. :ohwell:

Wee, finally another Legend of Dragoon addict, indeed this is one of my favorite RPG's of all time, I must say it's not as big as FF's fanbase but it sure is a good RPG noneth less, very underatted indeed, Emperor Doel's Battle was Epic not to mention Lloyd's.

too bad there was never a re-make of it or sequel, it would have definetly been the best over FF anyday.

I've seen the game in stores, but I haven't picked it up. I've heard good things about it though.

I'm pretty sure Square didn't make this game, but rather it was made by Sony Computer Entertainment.

I'm pretty sure Square was involved in it somehow.

I never really liked the whole additions thing. Interesting concept but executed poorly IMO.

Additions were fine, imo. It made things exciting and felt very involved.

But I like rhythm types of games, so the addition system was welcoming.

Eh maybe I was too young to time things back then. Also I never owned the game I just played it at friend's houses. Either way some of the later ones seemed too complex for their own good.

I guess you misunderstood what Sage07 said, he said that Legend of Dragoon is one of those games that had a lot of potential and therefore it should have been developed futher by Square, not that LoD was actually made my Square.

Additions where OK, my favorite definetly was Dart's Blazin Dynamo

Oh, gotcha. I was a little puzzled at first as to why he said that.

I liked the additions because instead of pushing "attack" and they go up and do one simple attack or do a brutal combo with us just sitting, you have to actually watch and time the attacks, which was pretty cool back then.:chuckle:

Yup, but for some reason I liked it better when Lavitz did that attack, as for Albert well.. not so much.

Even though the additions system might seem absurd to some nowadays, it's still a fun system to work with, especially if it's was one of your first RPG's.

my favorite addition is
Blazin Dynamo

Meh..Lavitz seemed to slow for me, i liked the speed of Albert better, exspecially the way he used "Spinning Cane".

Hmm... you do have a point there, Albert was definetly one of the speediest character, though he kinda lacked the power that Lavitz had, good character nonetheless.

Too bad they never made Lloyd playable, I almost thought for sure he would have been after defeat at Flanvel castle.

Reviving myself.
Hey, guys... I've never played Final Fantasy, myself... none of it, so I don't know how it compares.

What's Legend of Dragoon about? I hafta say, when I first saw this thread, I thought it was about the Legendary Dragoon, heh. Took someone five years to beat? Is it 2-disc like Baiten Katos?

Its 4-Disc, It's your basic story line sorta, Girl gets captured by these guys, but finds out she has powers she didn't even know she had,and her childhood friend(Dart) has to rescue her and thats where you pick up.

Moonchild,(The person thats suppose to save the planet) Dragoons (Ancient warriors that dragons chose to contain the spirit) Winglies (The Enemies/Ally's of the Dragoons.)

On a side note:Baiten Kaitos was a Bad A$$ game, still working on Origins tho,lol

I was a Madness Hero pro

Hmm... I think I see another Dart player around here. ^_^

But aside from Madness Hero, I really liked is Double Slash as well as Mind Crush, it was dissapointing that the Dragoons were severly limited in Magic spells (not that I actually needed them), otherwise it could have offered so much more.

My favourite character was Lavitz, then he got replaced King Albert. Also I noticed with my group of friends no one bothered use Shanon at all, I really wanted to see how good she was, but I never bothered using her either.

The first time I played it I got stuck against the first boss (ROFL) then I played it a few years later, made it to the last boss but could never beat the game. I honestly loved this game, loved it a lot. I liked the combat, I always used Volcano with Dart, I never bothered upgrading (lmao, I was a noob!!) I always wanted to play it again, amazing RPG, I wonder why it got bad ratings, seriously...amazing game.

I loved that game.

The story was cliche garbage, for sure, but it was monolithic and atmospheric cliche garbage.

Also, the combat felt a lot more... active than your average RPG.

Honestly, I was a big fan of this game when I was younger, but now after replaying it 2 years ago it's really not as good as I remember it. I'm not the type of guy who hates on graphics so it's not that it looks bad, and the music is good too so it's not that either. It's the fact that the gameplay itself gets really repetitive. Additions at first seem really cool but in retrospect it's just really gimmicky and tedious. An updated sequel/remake would be great, but this game isn't one of my favorites like it used to be.

I dunno, I changed up my additions often, each of which yielded different in-battle rewards. It was a lot more fun than clicking attack/guard/item and doing nothing for a full minute, which is what bores me to tears about RPGs.

Yup, Lavitz was definetly my favorite character, too bad he was only playable in the first disc. :(

The bosses weren't difficult at all, not even the Final Boss, though one particular boss gave me a headache, it was Lenus at Twin Castle, at one point I even though I was going to need my Codebreaker to actually beat her.

Wow, way to spark nostalgia. This game was incredible. I never beat it, and I've tried getting my hands on it since, but to no avail have I.

Same with Legend of Mana. Those two I would love to play again.

imposter chick= Lenus

See, I was right, I wasn't the only guy who had a problem with her, she was undeniably hard for a second disc boss.

Yeah, I hate that chick too. If I remember correctly, doesn't she get off two to three attacks in one round? It's been awhile since I've played, but I remember hating that battle.

Another fight I didn't like was the Water Dragon. You can't switch out Dart, yet he's "allergic" to water. Great way to start off a boss battle.

Yea, all Lenus did was powerful Dark Spells the first time around.

If you are talking about the Sea Dragon that was with Lenus (in Dragoon form), I must say they were both pathetically weak, considering that Lenus was much tougher the first time around, they both had quite amazing water spells, but in the end I didn't even break a sweat with those two.

@Br3ve: You should really finish it up, it's all good when mainly getting into the final disc.

Grand Jewel was 1,000 times harder then Lenus for me. Lenus gave me so much trouble, but Grand Jewel just went overboard.

I agree. Grand Jewel was the hardest boss in the game for me (along with Doel)
Yea, I forgot about Grand Jewel, it actually took me 5 tries to actually successfully beat him with all characters intact (alive), his Flash Hall gave me the hardest time.

As for Doel, it was truly one of my favorite battles in the game, though IMO he wasn't so hard, if he was, this battle would have truly been epic.

Death Frontier was definetly a place I disliked since it was so easy to get lost and start over, though I do have to admit that at least I wasn't forced to fight the enemies there since I could actaully avoid them, and sadly it was one of the few places in the game where you actually could avoid them.
