This is the ULTIMATE character list!!! By that, I mean that YOU CAN ADD ANYTHING TO IT!!! After some time, I will make an elimination round to shrink the list down to 45, so this becomes the (un)official character list of SmashBoards. However, there are a few rules.

Pokey, Ninten/Loid/Ana as one character, Poo.
All from Earthbound. And it might be because this thread seems a liiittle bit base.

Anyway.
Pokey would be a great villain for Ness and/or Jeff, Ninten/Loid/Ana are iconic of some of what made Nintendo great on the NES (at least for the Japanese), plus they're hard to picture being separate considering how much more important team-work was in that game than any other in the series, and Poo is pretty popular, and we don't have any strong Chinese influence in the game, there's mostly Japanese/European style swordsmen.

Eh, why not. Here's my character submission:
Smash Series:
Fighting Wire Frames/Polygon Team
-Been in smash since the beginning, they can be like "charade" from soul caliber 2. taking on the standard moveset of a random character and have no special moveset.

Mario Series:
Koopa Troopa
-Nameless minions of Bowser. I can see possible movesets but I can also see them as an assist trophy(even if I don't know what they would do really), sticker, ect.

Legend of Zelda Series:
WW Link
-I prefer him over the more serious Link. He has a lot of potential for movesets.
Tetra
-I don't really know what special moves she can possibly have but her standard moveset can be borrowed from sheik(Thats if sheik doesn't make the cut).

Warioware Series:
Ashley
-Possible movesets for both standard and special. Smash needs more female characters
Kat and Ana
-Can be paired up like the Ice climbers but has a different standard and special moveset.

Ephraim & Eirika - Good sword-using duo
Teddy - As an added to the original trio
Starman Junior - Definitely usable, a "fixture" for the Mother series
Animal trio - Rick, Kine, and Coo
Slippy - He, Fox, and Falco are the most consistently appearing pilots in the series
Mona - Arguably the second biggest character in WarioWare, Wario's got a crush on her
Marle - Important to CT, more so than most of them
Muddy Mole - One of Miyamoto's least appreciated series; Sakurai said "he might already be in the roster!"
Sukapon - Nintendo's original "fighting game character"
Andy/Will - Andy's the most common CO in the Advance Wars series, Will's the current one. And AW is an 11-game franchise.
Professor Layton - Incredibly popular franchise, almost one million sold by the first game alone. Good DS rep.
Lolo & Lala - Sakurai had a hand in its creation somewhat, and acknowledges the franchise in his games and the anime.
Mike Jones - Good "American Nintendo fan" rep.

The Amazon from Pro Wrestling; He is notable among the characters of that game, because he cheats(stabbing people with forks, choking them and biting their heads) and is a fishman wrestler. And to be honest, a wrestler would add a little bit of diversity to Brawl's roster, would it not? He should be included in the retro series of characters.

Tiny Kong from the Donkey Kong series; Before you begin using flamethrowers on me, please take the time to read this. While Tiny uses her hair as a weapon like her elder(and,
ironically, smaller) sister Dixie, she has the advantage of having TWO pigtails for the price of one, which would allow for multiple hits. She also uses a feather crossbow and a saxophone as potent weapons. Also, let us not forget that her latest character design is distinctive enough to differantiate her from Dixie and not be branded a clone character. That is why I want her to be included in the list.

He is the main char of the first chapter, but after this he hasn't a big role.

-Kumatora (Mother 3)
One of the main characters of Mother 3.
She seems to be semi-deconfirmed, since Lucas took Kumatoras (and Ness) moveset.
But she should be still on the list.

-Ashley (WarioWare)
She is a witch, has a nice moveset and she is popular by few people here.

-Mona (WarioWare)
She seems to be one of the most popular WW-characters.
An allrounder.

-K.K. Slider (Animal Crossing)
You can say what you want. I know he is deconfirmed (well, still a little chance), but he is pure awesomeness.
My fav Nintendochar for a reason.
He is the character of Kazumi Totaka and sings on Smashville.
