Thanks for posting this.

It's really interesting and fun to see what the king of smash has to say about Brawl.

Just want to point out that he has a right to be cocky. He's probably entered in over 100 tournaments and has only lost 8. This is no exaggeration, either. He was essentially the unquestioned best in the world for 2 years straight.

i think if this was a PC chris interview, PC would be much more humble and not call himself king of smash and all that stuff. that kinda got ehhh ...so its like... k ken you're good but.. hes kinda into himself too much?

My god. If he's that bad in an interview I can't imagine what he must be like in real life.

If I was that good.. heck, I wouldn't question myself either as the king of smash.

Even if I won all those tournaments, I would never come out and say things like "I'll always be known as the King of Smash", etc. I will never deny the fact that he's one of the best, but I think now that there are pro's at his level (if not better).

How about you guys get real?

You're telling me that if you had entered 100+ tournaments, only lost 8, and were pretty much the best player in the world you wouldn't speak highly of yourself?

Please.

Why are you so hard on him? Not everyone on this board follows the competitive level of Smash and who the players are.

Ken is a pro who is considered to be one of the best in the world. His primary character is Marth. Go on youtube and type Ken ssbm. I'm sure you'll find plenty of videos.

Pyroloserkid is the very definition of a Ken fanboy.

You can be the best at something, doesn't mean you can't be humble about it.

The point is that you don't have to be humble about yourself.

Ken deserves all the praise he gets, don't hate him just because he hyped himself up a little.

Hmm, of course he's full of himself... google video him.

Also, so far, I'm digging this interview, kinda gives me hope (just getting to page 3)

Please, just because I'm not too ashamed to admit that if I was number one in the world that I wouldn't praise myself a bit?

On a side note, Ken fanboys and worshippers are lame. I, my friend, are not any of those three =] .

I'm just angry and in a flaming mood.

I've seen celebrities more humble in interviews. People with actual reasons to be egocentric.

Geez, he's retiring and he's f'ing amazing, give him a break. If it was anyone else (not PC, Mew2King, ect) I'd think they were full of it, but he deserves to be a little cocky.

I can read ChuDat, Azen, PC Chris, Mew2King like pop up books, however, every time I open the book entitled "KoreanDJ" I always seem to get a paper cut. He is so random sometimes that it throws me completely off.
Beastly quote.

I will agree that Ken is way too egocentric. Also, he seems extremely nerdy and lame. Just cause you're the best at a video game doesn't mean you should be egocentric. Athletes who are full of themselves are just as annoying.

I don't think anybody should look up to Ken. They should aspire to emulate his skill level, but to look up to him as a person is not something you should aspire to. After all the athletes most worthy of idolization are the ones who are great but don't go around talking like their hot s***, the same is true of video game pros (or at least, it will be widely as competitive gaming continues to grow.)

Who are you to judge him? (unless of course you know Ken personally) That was one interview and you act like you can tell every single aspect of his personality from it. It's not like he doesn't have the right to have an "ego" because he's worked his way up to being the best.

The only time I dislike people with egos is when they brag about something and they're not very good at it.

His public persona is much more important given his status than his private persona. His public persona is what is presented to all of the people who don't know him and all of his "Fans" if his fans idolize him over his rather terrible public persona than they're fools and naive.

No offense, but to argue otherwise is a little naive as well.

Sure he can be egotistical, but he shouldn't expect others to admire him if he is. I'm arrogant, I know I am, but I don't expect people to love me cause frankly they probably shouldn't, I'm not particularly nice. People can admire me for other qualities but aspiring to be like me personally or idolizing me would be stupid. Idolizing Ken is equally as stupid.

Ken doesn't really come off as cocky. He shows much love for other pros, and even states that there are no bad smashers, practically everyone is good at this game. When he says he will always be the King of Smash, I don't think he means that he can't be beat, but rather that his LEGACY is something that can't be taken from him, which is truth, not cockyness.
