Kara cancelling?

Okay so I got linked this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKJ_RitVFIE

The title is Kara Cancel and several videos displaying it have showed it.

It looks exactly the same as Mortar Sliding with Snake and the description of how to do it looks the same, too. I've never seen anyone but Snake do it, or Falco and Wario when they make contact. But Link, Sheik, and Wolf do it here, too.

Does this even exist in the NA release?

PS: I posted this in the Link section because it's kind of character specific and there are too many stupid fakeposts in the Tactical Discussion by people who just post rickrolling.

EDIT: Other video removed, here is another where Link is at the end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xI1z062REk

God this is not DLX Hit Cancel if you read Dante Link X's original thread all he "discovered" was that Falco/Wario/Snake cancel when you make contact with them

looks incredibly interesting. [-wonders if R.O.B. can do it as well, since he seems to benefit a TON from sliding type things-] Anyway....
Any idea of how to do it? Its in Japanese, so I wouldn't be surprised if the info would be hard to find.

wow wtf? That looks really cool. It almost looks like the dash attack is canceled into the upsmash. Timing might be tricky tho

At 00:12 it says

Tap Jump ON: Dash -> C-stick down -> Up Z
Tap Jump OFF: Diagonal Up (???) -> Dash -> C-stick down -> Z

I'm assuming when it says Up Z it means to move the C-stick up and hold Z to charge the smash (C-stick down does the dash attack, C-stick up cancels into up-smash). I have no problem doing that with Snake, but I cannot make it work with any of the other characters it shows. That's what confuses me the most.

EDIT: Also I have no idea what Tap Jump would have to do with anything, maybe 弾きジャンプ doesn't mean Tap Jump...? I don't know, also the Diagonal Up thing is confusing @_@

when it says up, it means the control stick, i've done this with link, it's a lot harder to do with tap jump off

its not really too hard to do with tap jump off i just dash with the control stick tilted slightly up then flick c-stick down and press z right after not too hard really once you get the timing down right.:chuckle: it actually works with almost all the chars but only really useful for chars with lunging dash attacks though.

Well, I tried it out some and I can easily get the Up-smash to charge, but I can't get the distance at all.
I've got Tap jump on. I do as it says, but I can't get the distance. What's the general timing on it?

you might not get distance depending on what character you are using. the timing is hit z like a split second after you hit the c-stick down but, if you hit z too fast you will go into an grab animation instead or dash attack animation.

Got it. Thank you both for your help =)

This is a very nice trick. Nice find...it will add to Link's lack of options. Very nice that it covers a good amount of distance. Thanks for sharing!

After testing this myself, having "Tap Up to Jump" either on or off does not effect this trick. The objective for smashing Up on the control stick is to give the command for a smash.

You simply need to...

Dash -> C-Stick Down + Up + Z (simultaneously)

Some of you may say not at the same time, but after I tested it the timing of the Up + Z, I concluded that you need to do the Up + Z with the C-Stick Down at the earliest or at the latest is before you start the dashing animation, which is immediately after you C-Stick Down. I found it easier just to do it all simultaneously.

Hope that helps.

DLX Hit Cancel isn't real. It's just some guy who decided to name a technique after himself. I think his name is DanteLinkX or something like that. In any case, don't call it DLX Hit Cancel. He wasn't the first to discover it. Many characters can use an upsmash out of their dash attack.

After some searching, I found that this is also called DLX Hit Cancel. Seems to be out for a short while.
DLX Hit Cancel is different. It requires a dash attack to make contact with the opponent, and the up-smash is used on frames way later. It's more similar to IASA than Kara Cancelling, since "DLX Hit Cancel" just cancels the last frames of recovery after the Dash Attack. Kara Cancelling actually cancels the running attack before it has a chance to activate.

"DLX Hit Cancel" only works on Snake, Falco, and Wario.

Yeah let's not call it DLX Hit Cancel.

What are you guys talking about? Are you trying to UpSmash out of pre-dashing? Sorry to sound so noobish, but wouldn't diagonally pressing up-right (up-left) then holding the A button do the same thing? If fact, you can keep running along then Hold A and you'll still do an UpSmash out of a run.

Edit: BTW the video doesn't work so I can't tell how is this Kara cacelling is suppose to look like.

The latest is before you execute the dash attack, or maybe easier to visualize is when you start to swing the sword to dash attack.

Here is a video:

No. The video shows it very well. There is an upsmash out of a run, and then there is this. This dash attacking, but cancelling the dash attack very very early in and carrying the lunging momentum of the dash attack into a farther sliding up-smash. It requires a specific input to be done properly. It's essentially does the same thing as upsmashing out of a dash except with MUCH more sliding during the upsmash, especially for some characters(like snake).

Please, for the love of god, shut up. No one knows what you're going on about.

I don't know what sort of e-celebrity you think yourself to be, but don't think you can talk for everybody and tell me to shut up. I was answering Linkspecialist.

Listen, you're incredibly stupid, first of all, second, I'm not an "e-celebrity" or whatever the hell kind of ******** term that might be, I'm actually famous. My name is Chan, Chan Jackie, lead actress in the number one film "citizen Kane" (maybe you've heard of it) so I don't think you even have the intelligence to insult me, let alone tell me what to do. I'm much better than you at this game, life, getting men, (you might be better at that, actually) and just about everything else. So please, just do yourself and everyone else who posts on these boards and just stop posting and go away.

lol you fancy yourself as being talented at insulting people on the internet, or being entertaining.

Anyway, I think the video that ImpactAR linked shows this best. I like the way this feels for link when I do it and I think it's going to see decent use, as it has movement speed on it that link normally doesn't have.

Wow... This technique rocks! I've almost mastered the timing and i must say this has potential. Its a great mind game and it can add SERIOUS speed to link's game. I've been able to cover nearly half of final destination most of the time. I believe that more is possible. It depends on how long you charge z. Unless my eyes fool me i believe that holding z for certain amounts of time increases the distance you get. I think timing it perfectly would mean holding z until the momentum of the dash is just about over then releasing z adding more momentum and maximizing distance. Its all speculation though, hopefully i'll get a video up soon. I think this could be big if someone could perfectly master it...

Hey people have you noticed that the people who everyone knows can DXL hit cancel have the best boost smashes? I think this isn't a glitch but rather an exploit of the physics--just as in melee WDing was. Because it's an exploit, everyone will probably be able to do it, but due to timing/distance it will be less useful for some.

When people discovered WDing they thought that Bowser, falco, and all couldn't do it, simply because it was harder...

Put two and two together now. Obviously they are related, and it's simply that because the timing is easier to DXL for wario, snake, falco doesn't mean other people can't do it. Just try and see whether Link can also DXL as well as boost smash
