They've been responding to a ton of SK in smash stuff, requests, questions and fanart. If they had gone silent on the matter that would look suspicious. Again, they've done this type of thing before.

That doesn't mean the rumors are true. Not by a longshot. It means that Yachtclub's deconfirmation isn't really that.

We don't need guidance, we need a voice! Ive been a Nintendo fan since the NES days and this is such a sad move if Nintendo is willing to throw away 3 1/2 decades of gaming history for a one year old indie game that sold less than even Xenoblade did in the states.

I think you're confused. The twitter post deconfirmed the SK amiibo rumor last week....not the rumor that came out today. Tamaki said the amiibo rumor has nothing to do with his information

We knew this wasn't an election, but at the same time, the fact we get to cast a vote shows that there would be a clear "winner." If theres one thing for certain here, SK did not win the ballot. His popularity is nearly exclusive to the West, and even here hes still not in the top 5.

Certainly democracy did not work in this case, and thats just not going to leave a good taste in fans' mouths.

No, but that doesn't mean they can't do it this time. They announced Robin and Lucina right in the middle of Summer last year with no Direct or anything, so there's always a first for everything.


That said, this timing just isn't right. One trend they have ALWAYS had is doing a live preview of a new character, and Nintendo hasn't announced anything.

This exactly. There's rumors, but there's far more things AGAINST Shovel Knight's inclusion than for it. Especially since, in all honesty, Shovel Knight's basic moves are perfectly fine just as a Mii Fighter costume that trades a sword for a shovel. Like Inklings and Black Knight, he'd look perfectly fine as a Mii Fighter costume.

This is the thing, we can't let this get to us though. If the thought of this frustrates us, just imagine how this will be if hes confirmed.

Again I'm talking as a long term Nintendo fan here. If he is announced we can't just take a blow and accept it. We need to stick up for ourselves here and voice our opinions if it happens. There are plenty of civil ways to protest choices. If we don't get our favorite character, so be it. But Nintendo has to know we truly wanted them.

One thing K Rool supporters get flack for is being "bandwagon" characters, and believe once the poll is over, his support will die. You can't easily accept defeat like that though, because then the character does become a "bandwagon." Theres always more that can be done. Retro listens. After the first DKC, they added Dixie, water levels, and music by David Wise. Now we want Kremlings and more animal buddies. They will listen, as long as we stress interest. As our voice dies, interest dies.

He wasn't in Jungle Beat, he wasn't in Country Returns, he wasn't in Tropical Freeze, and he wasn't in the Smash 4 base roster despite being a highly requested character worldwide. People need to understand why people here flip out at these sorts of things. The problem is that most people have been wanting this character from and since Melee and now we get beat by some nobody character that had one game? We're getting older and tired. A Nintendo villain that's been ignored for no good reason. We have to try 10x harder than any character just to get name dropped. We're a grassroots movement but not a hype character, we're a character most people know should have been in the game by now. We've tried harder than most fan based to get recognized and some people have grown insecure about all of this. I've had time to calm down but we can't give up. I just love, LOVE the fact that so many people here have taken this "leaker's" word as gospel. Because he "thinks" that K. Rool is out, and he "thinks" that Shovel Knight is a shoe in. We haven't seen a scale since the costume's release.

For all we know, Rusty from Steamworld Dig could be announced on Saturday. Maybe NOTHING will be announced on Saturday! All we're doing is speculating and theorizing, and then going for Shovel Knight's jugular when the theories are in his favor. Look at the positives.

This ballot has surely been a good thing for King.K Rool and his future in DKC. Before the ballot, I only knew him as a generic crocodile from the cartoons. But the fans sucessfully konvinced me that he is a kunning kreature with a bevy of comically oversized weapons at his disposal. He even interested me enough to do more research about his games.

It's not like you have it the worst. The Kremling King is widely considered by fans to be a good newcomer candidate Which is more than you can say for these characters.

Krystal is wrongly criticised for being "furry bait". Those who support characters with predefined roles are in their lonesome, with threads being tucked away in a social group which is hard to find. Daisy fans have to endure the stigma of their character being "spin-off fodder" and "Boring Peach clone".

I can totally understand the keruffle that's going on, but here is the thing:

we cannot prove anything.

Nintendo keeps everything about the ballot secret (although I hope for a future announcement of the results) so even IF Shovel Knight gets in as the first Ballot character, it doesn't nessecarily mean that he's the one with the biggest amount of votes.
the announcement would just coincide with the release/preview of the Plague of shadows DLC and make for a great marketing stunt for both companies.

What we can prove, though. is that K.Rools fanbase is undenieably big and devoted and there is no design aspect of the character that holds him back, unlike Ridley ( Sakurai's opinion, not mine).
