Jump get-up option from lying on ground

From an edge, one could attack up, stand up, roll up, or jump up (or let of go of the edge).

From laying on the ground, a player can do all these things... attack up, stand up, or roll up, but not jump. Just something I'd like to see in Brawl.

I also think tech-jumping off of ceilings and ground would be nifty, sort of like parrying your impact and coming back at them.

cool idea, not a bad one at all, jumping out of the laying position makes the game that much more unpredictable.

But I think jump techs aren't as great an idea, it's like rewarding being attacked almost, the normal teching system is fine.

there's too much of an advantage being able to jump-tech .... u'll get the yoshi idea.. being able to attack directly after being hit from fox's shine... tech the floor and jump and SH aerial

sounds good to me, really like the idea actually. a shorthop from being on the ground might be a little imba for some characters. But if it's like the jump from the ledge (full hop and a bit laggy until about halfway through) then it sounds great. Biggest thing to me is that when you are laying on your back/stomach, you should still be on the defensive for the most part. Otherwise, I'd rather just keep the other guy in the air the whole fight.

Yeah, it never made sense to me why you couldn't jump while lying down. But like with an edge jump, it would never be a shorthop.

Techjumping is an interesting idea, since it already exists for walls. I'd say that if you were to techjump off a ceiling or wall, your momentum would be completely reversed (so if you're hit hardenough into the ground and you techjump, you'd fly up at the same speed).

tech jump should be aimable to up, up-right or up-left to have any use... for as simply jumping up only sets u up for combo's.. if tyhat was the case.. tech jump is just plain useless and shouldnt be usable.

the laggy edgehop is hardly worth using.. everybody knows that... so what's the point in putting the same thing in there with the same results... hardly/ never use it...

I dooooo actually find ceiling-tech-jump to be pretty sweet tho... that gives a lot of extras in ur play... but if they want to put it in for moving ur char around then i suggest they make the ceiling jump like a normal walljump.. so without the teching part
like u get someone off the level
jump diagonally up against the ceiling
ceiling-jump and then spike them to their doom...

any thoughts on this one?

I would rather have a B-get up move first, before a jump. First, it will give the character another unique aspect, and that not everyone has the gymnast skills letting them jump right to their feet from eating a face full of dirt. [metaphorically of course]

I'd have to say yes to Tomv since teching already has to do with your momentum (ever teched a FSmash at 100%+? You still move backwards even if you tech roll forwards. :p)

To the jump get-up, I think it would be good for some characters but not all because as some people have already said, the entire cast is not that agile.

Actually, I don't even think it'd be that useful because the character would have to go through the stand up motions first anyway...it'd be really akward to see someone just fly up from the ground. (Unless they did a handspring of some sort, which limits who can do it even more probably.)

I didn't say no to jump teching (everyone can do that already anyway), I said it'd be wierd to jump up from the lying down animation.

i disagree.... there's too much good stuff coming out of this idea... like a few others said earlier here...
it makes being attacked better than attacking..
looking at the possibilities of teching right now.. it wouldnt be weird if they put it in.. it's a logical next step and would add in aerial play... but... without some extreme tweaking.. it would be toooooooooooooo useful
