Tiers matter in my opinion, but I think you're letting this affect you too much.

You shouldn't care because tier lists shouldn't determine who you play and this tier list is probably bogus anyways. Good tier lists take a much longer time to form.

Early tier lists are pointless. Every single character in Smash 4 has qualities that make them top / high / middle tier. I really don't think there is a "bad" character right now.

One list, compiled after less than a month of play, almost certain to have pretty massive changes as the game develops (Brawl had something like 7 characters whose tier placings changed by at least 10 between the earliest and most recent iterations) that happens not to rate your character amongst the highest is sufficient to drain your hype? You do realise that if everyone listened to the list in this way it's practically a self fulfilling prophecy?

Don't worry about it. My character (R.O.B.) is rated pretty low as well but hype still increases with every video I watch.

Japan's meta is rather different from Western meta. At least some of the tournament rounds I saw, there was virtually no camping, no need of a timer, etc. All rushdown and straight-up outfighting the opponent (quite refreshing, personally, compared to the campy meta often seen around here). Japan's meta is its own, and a 3-week old meta will neither fully represent the final meta nor should it affect your character choices.

For instance, notice how many of the characters are at the complete opposite end of their American tier placing. Robin and Shulk are very low in Japan, both rather high in America, etc.

Skillgates man. The h\game isn't out globally yet and everyone who has played it has had 3 weeks to form an opinion. From what I see most of the lower tier are characters that are regarded commonly as potential awesome but hard to play. No one in this looks to be another metaknight. Just play the game and form your own opinion. Though honestly, the mario characters aree designed to be intro characters that are average in most respects so I wouldn't count on Dr M ever being regarded as top tier. Not that they are bad just don't rely on tier list.

It's up to YOU to bring them up. You gotta back your characters up and take them as far as they can go. My mains Shulk, Mario, and Olimar are all apparently low. This pumps me up more than anything because I want to prove how wrong this unofficial official roster is.

I tried to translate the content of the page: Obviously Google Translate gave a lot of Engrish but I found this info:

Also they explained the Lack of S tier: That tier is reserved for "unusual cases" and by unusual they mean overpowered or hard to counter (and they cite MK in Brawl as an example)

And there's a note remarking that this is an early Tier List and is subject to changes because the developing metagame and the low evaluation personnel.
So we can (technically, we must) take this as a "First Impression list"

And always take early tier lists with a huge glob of salt. When Brawl came out, people thought Meta Knight was low tier due to a lack of killing moves. As well, tier lists differ between regions so keep that in mind.
