it does work, but it takes practice to do, you need to be able to approch them perferable after some mind games. its hard to do agaisnt anyone who can dodge/sheild/marth-ike counter well, so practice on lvl 9s for aprroching. if it is done correctly it can usally kill and 70% depending on char and place.

Sometimes I find that two jabs before the up-B works better, but it can be pretty unpredictable...

It has to do with the range at which you jab them. Max range jab will pretty much never lead to a firejumppunch, but if you do it about mid-range of the length of the jab it will do it very reliably, except against small/lighweight characters, like kirby. I might have this switched up but jab to up-B works better at lower % while 2x jab to up-B gets a bit more range on the jab to up-B setup at higher %. Anyway, jabbing before firejumppunching does add good distance to the range you can be at and still land a firejump punch. Finally, I found that dtilt never directly leads into a firejumppunch, but when you trip someone up with the move(dtilt makes people fall on their butts alot at certain % depending on weight), including lightweights, it's easy to rush into firejumppunch them off the ground.

if you guys learned how to jab cancel in melee. thats how you establish the jab up B alot easier.

Jab--> quick Crouch cancel --> tilt control stick back for a slight milisecond --> up b.

I found jab cancelling to work great on this

Am I the only one who is bothered by custom controls? Mostly because it saves under a name, and you have to pick a name, which means that name will be obnoxiously floating above your character's head the whole fight.

Pros have no problem with this, as they do it all the time, but it bugs the hell outta me.

not to be mean or anything, but if you don't like it then don't do it. Easy as that. In my opinion most people put a tag on because they want to be recognized as someone not just anyone. if you were to walk behind isai and he was playing would you know its him? no because he often doesn't play with a tag. if you were to walk behind ken while he was playing you'd probably know its him out of every asian that plays because he usually wears his tag.

also controls. some people have preferences. people change their controls in order to do more things. like DLX hit cancel. and i doubt you would know that. but its the dash attack canceled with an up smash

run
dash attack
quickly cancel it with a usmash

its very hard to do unless you change your Z to attack so you can easily press a for the dash attack then do a upsmash with Z

Yea this jab to up B thing. I can get it off good most of the time except for on heavy characters like Ike, Ganon and snake also zero suit samus. They can just shield after the jab everytime. So what do you have to do different with them. Jab Cancel?

On anyone pretty much. What mostly matters is if they DI away or towards you and how far(or how close) your jab connects.

Thank you kindly sir will try. One more question though.. how quick do you do the second jab. Is it like two quick jabs. Or jab then delay and another jab.

For me, it depends on who I'm fighting and what their DI is. Just play around with it, but for me, quicker is usually better.

Jab Cancel is done with the shield button quickly late in jab's frame, and can be done on the first or second jab(practice in slow-motion). Crouch cancel doesn't work in Brawl. As an Ike user, I like to occasionally surprise players with a Jab Cancel into an Ftilt.

I've used this combo many times with both humans and comps. If I hit properly with the jab, I've found it impossible to miss with the up-B. You have to be able to instantly hit B, though, which might be easier for me since I use the nunchuk.
