Tl;DR:
The gap between Prime 2 and Prime 3 was 2 years, with Prime Pinball and Hunters during that period. 2 YEARS. I love a good spinoff game (Hunters was my second DS game); I'm sure I would even enjoy Federation Force. However, the time since the last UNIVERSAlLY HAILED Metroid game (Prime 3) has been OVER 8 YEARS. If you count Other M, it's been 5, but many do not. If Federation Force and Prime Hunters had swapped releases, everyone would be angry at Hunters, even though everyone likes it as a game (including us).

Yeah, E3 blew (though I'm gonna want to buy Tri Force Heroes), but I can't say I'm surprised about the new Mario Tennis game. We know where the priorities are for Nintendo, but I did comment to friends and other forums that I hope Isaac is DLC. Even if the heirarchy (in terms AgatioGanon would understand) is that Mario is Roman Reigns while Golden Sun is Jack Swagger, I would hope Camelot can take advantage of DLC and use their own characters as a fun little diversion.

I know people want me to shut up about Metroid, but god damn it I'm going to defend myself (again). I actually specifically said that I'm probably going to like Federation Force, and I'm not one of those people who dislike the Youtube video or put out a ****ing petition to have the game cancelled. However, and this is a big however, it is pretty insulting that we got 2 (yes, ****ing 2) main series Metroid games for 3DS cancelled but got Federation Force instead. IDK if you were taking issue with me personally or the general outrage with FF, but
A) don't defend Nintendo when it is crystal clear that they have screwed up
B) don't misinterpret my argument in order to call this line of thinking "****ing stupid."
I enjoy having mature and adult discussions about these types of things; I realize that this is Isaac's thread and it is partly/mostly my fault that we're still talking about Metroid, so that's why this is in spoilers. Thank you.

It's all speculation at this point, but I think that Nintendo has finally realized that DLC for their biggest game ever = more money for them. Because of this, I'm thinking that Isaac still has a great chance.

They might already be working on it; IDT it would be a stretch to say a dev could have multiple projects in the works. Regardless, I would be really surprised to see GS4 b4 2016.

I think both are probably getting replaced, honestly. Even if its not the "end" of its life span, its still pretty late. And the 3DS has been around a lot longer.


I think the idea behind new 3DS was to allow the 3DS to go a couple more years so its life span would end at the same time as the Wii U. Then they'd replace both of them at once. That's what I'm thinking. (Besides, maybe Camelot WILL do an HD Golden Sun next. Maybe they decided that they wanted to do something bigger with GS this time? That way if its the last game in the series it goes out with a bang.)

3DS isn't at the end of it's life span. Wii U might be, but probably not; NX is probably coming late 2017. Besides, wouldn't GS4 be on 3DS?

Lol, no. Holiday 2016 is way too early. Its not coming until 2017 for sure. That said I do agree that both are probably being phased out, but they've still got a decent lineup of games throughout 2016. Its 2017 that will largely be barren (unless NX and whatever successor the 3DS has are fully backwards compatible).

Seems like Nintendo might be ending the Wii U just like how Sega did with the Saturn. They should instead suck it up and continue making games for the Wii U, instead of getting rid of their Wii U fanbase. If they have the NX drop next year, then that will cause trust issues between them and their fans.

Nintendo is a very stubborn company, so I think they will not admit to themselves what they did wrong and make the same mistakes they made with the Wii U. I expect them to call the NX the "New Nintendo Wii U" and have no idea who to market it to.
