I wouldn't be as hype as if it was Isaac himself, which means I wouldn't get a heart attack from the reveal, but he'd still be my main forever.

If Matthew gets in, I will be happy with that because it will show that Sakurai does in fact care for the series (because he is putting a GS Rep in) and Matthew is more recent too. Heck, it might even help Dark Dawn sales and definitely promote GS4. Obviously, we all want Isaac, but if Matthew gets in instead, I'll support him all the way and we all should too. His Dad would do the same and be proud of him. (Isaac and Felix Alt Costumes for Matthew confirmed. Haha!)

Had a quick check of my endgame file and these are the classes I'd given everyone:

Matthew - Chaos Lord
Sveta - Gladiator
Karis - Wizard
Tyrell - Ronin

Himi - Master
Amiti - Guru
Rief - Angel
Eeleo - Master

I think the appeal of this set up is that I didn't have to have any Djinn on standby in order for the classes to work (which would cause problems when summoning).

My 1st set (the one I remember normally using) was pretty reliable IIRC - Gladiator Sveta deals absurd amounts of damage in her Beast form AND you've got Chaos Lord Matthew churning out Megiddo's from his Sol Blade also causing major damage. You also have Ronin Tyrell and Wizard Karis to boost everyones attack very, very quickly. Once that's done, Tyrell can either boost defence or provide attack support whilst Karis spams Wish Well/Pure Wish to keep everyone healed



Very briefly on the subject of this leak - very sad to see Isaac not mentioned anywhere in it. Let's hope it's wrong about that...I really want to see Isaac in his game. The Djinn mechanic would make for a very unique character in Smash Bros...

I think I had my setup somewhat like this but I had Matthew at Master or at Ronin instead of Chaos Lord. Gotta love those Jupiter djinn stats. Although your setup is interesting. Don't have my cartridge on me at the moment or would have said my setup as well. I think I had everyone at tri-elemental classes as I don't use summons much. Although I still love Catastrophe

I would prefer it to be the opposite. I would use Matthew all the way if he makes it in instead of Isaac and will be happy Golden Sun got an appearance but I will be a teensy weensy bit disappointed as I want Isaac to get in. He has the biggest chance as @ _Sheik said, he is the face of the franchise like Marth is for Fire Emblem, and the latter yet has to be removed from a Smash game! Make Matthew appear in Isaac's Final Smash instead And an alt skin of Matthew for Isaac!

Isaac for Smash Bros. 4 Sakurai!!! If you do that, all GS fans will sing your praises And prove that fake leak wrong! Put this awesome unique character instead of some fake knockoffs or clones! Bring back one of the most wanted characters since Melee! He has been shafted for long enough!

Well, we got a new assist trophy, but it's not Isaac (fortunately). Ghirahim is now an AT. I feel bad for those who were hoping for him being playable. Honestly, I kind of hoped that he would be. A moment of silence for those that had their hopes crushed.

Yup. A roster with Isaac would be perfect for me. Because I would main him 100%. As soon as Isaac is announced for Smash Bros. I would reach cloud 9 and then probably relax, not caring about anymore leaks or any speculation or anything else. After Isaac, whoever would join wouldn't matter to me as well.

Plus Isaac's reveal would silence the leakers once and for all. Since they haven't mentioned him anywhere, it will be a huge blow to them. I hope the next Smash Direct whenever it happens reveal our favourite Earth Shaking Adept.

My two most wanted characters are Shulk and Isaac, and I'd love the latter waay more than the former. To sum up my possible reactions:
-A reveal trailer features Shulk only: I like it and am super okay with it, but will keep expecting Isaac while the trailer continues. If him neither another GS rep are revealed, I'll be disappointed at first but I'd eventually get over it and main Shulk since I love him too.
-The very same/A different trailer without Shulk features Matthew as a playable character: I get Sakurai is trying to focus the franchise on its future rather than on its past and he wants GS to "move on" in some way. I would rather get Isaac, but even though I'm not hyped I'm okay with, understand the decision, respect it, it and will main Matthew anyways.
-Isaac is revealed with or without shulk: We got in our hands the greatest event since the creation of internet, congratulations everyone. And then, me 2.0, the happiest man alive, would born.
-Neither shulk NOR Isaac are revealed: My life is over. Okay, it's not, but i'd get SAD

Though I've got no reason to I'm going to continue to believe that Isaac has made it in and to celebrate this belief (and to ignore certain and probably fake leaks), it is time to post another moveset. This time instead of it being basically the Samurai class incarnate with a summon system for specials, we're going to go with the much more probable mono-element approach.

First things first, since we're limiting ourselves to one element here, instead of doing a theme like the Samurai class for smashes and summons and djinn for specials in my previous moveset, I'm going to try to grab from all over to try to represent all of the unique aspects of the game.

Spoiler: Smashing Earth

Standard Moves: Not just another swordsman

• Neutral: Jab
  • Isaac preforms a quick jab forward with the sword
• Combo: Odyssey Psynergy
  
  • A set of rapiers appear to pierce the opponent after the initial jab and Isaac rushes forward to stab with a large glowing sword that has formed around his body
• Dash: Leaping Slash
  • A throwback to the animation for attacking from the game, Isaac leaps into the air with sword overhead coming down with the blade a short distance ahead
• Side Tilt: Impact Thrust
  • Isaac pulls his sword back and places one hand on the pommel of the sword before forcefully jabbing it forward (somewhat like Roy in Project M)
• Side Smash: Critical Hit
  • Nearly identical to Isaac's dash attack, but after he lands there is a burst of energy that pours out of the point of impact and goes forward slightly.
• Down Tilt: Tremor Psynergy
  
  • The ground in front of Isaac shakes and moves a little and any opponent caught trips.
• Down Smash: Quake Psynergy
  
  • The ground shakes and moves like with Tremor, but it is now on either side of Isaac and launches opponents
• Up Tilt: Arc Strike
  • Isaac does an arcing slash over his head.
• Up Smash: Lift Psynergy
  
  • Two psynergy hands lift a boulder from the ground (it sits there like Ness's yo-yo until the attack is released) and the boulder is raised overhead. The movement of the hands and boulder can be altered somewhat with some directional input.

Aerial Moves: The air isn't his strength

• Neutral: Djinn Defense
  • These two Djinn spin around Isaac along with a few pebbles
• Forward: Force Psynergy
  • Isaac summons a psynergy fist and launches it forwards a short distance
• Back: Move Psynergy
  • Isaac summons a psynergy hand that pushes opponents away
• Up: Arcing Swing
  • Isaac slashes his blade over head somersaulting as he swings
• Down: Spire Psynergy
  • Isaac creates a stalactite beneath him and drops it; this attack briefly halts Isaac's fall

Special Moves: How many aspects of the game can we cram here?

• Neutral: Megiddo Unleash
  • Isaac draws his sword and an orb begins forming at the tip of his blade. This move can be charged and used later like most other charge attacks. When unleashed, Isaac hops upwards and backwards a short distance and throws the orb forward at a downward angle.
• Side: Flint the Djinni
  • Isaac leaps forward with his blade like with his dash attack, but as he leaps Flint appears overhead charging Isaac's blade with Venus power. If the special button is pressed again during this animation, Isaac will pause briefly, and his blade will glow brighter yet. In either scenario, the energy is unleashed in a wave(size dependent on charge) when Isaac comes into contact with an opponent or the ground.
• Up: Gaia Psynergy
  • A boulder appears under Isaac with two smaller rocks on either side of the boulder and the whole mess shoots upwards. The rocks and boulder fall at the peak of the ascent and Isaac can either do a short jump off the boulder with an jump input or can fall with the boulder, though he now gains some directional control.
• Down: Summon Cybele
  • The small version of the plant monster plops out of Isaac and quickly burrows into the ground. When Isaac next uses his down special, vines shoot upwards out of that location.

Grabs: Isaac grabs using a more powerful version of the catch psynergy which gives him a grab somewhat like Olimar and has the added benefit of being a tether

• Forward: A rock bursts from the ground and Isaac slams it into his opponent
• Back: The psynergy hand drops the opponent behind Isaac and he slashes at them with his sword
• Up: Vines sprout around the opponent and carry them upwards
• Down: The hand drops the opponent and quickly forms into a fist above them and drops down (like the Pound pysnergy)

For the next installment, I'm trying to think of a moveset where Isaac doesn't appear to wield any weapon instead using psynergy and summons a primary attacks, but will pull out maces, axes, long swords, and a light sword with a shield depending on the attack. It'd basically never happen, but I think it is a cool concept and want to explore it.

Exactly. I never had a problem with Shulk. He is apparently the main character of one of the best games that Nintendo has LATELY published. But Isaac is the main character of one the greatest games that Nintendo EVER published. Plus he is the deuteragonist of Golden Sun 2 and the father figure (ok actual father) to the main character in GS 3! He has much more impact as well as influence!

Now we are getting Xenoblade Chronicles X and I didn't see a semblance of Shulk in the trailer. He is not even confirmed to appear in another game whereas Isaac has appeared in 3 and looking at the events of Dark Dawn, he will definitely be in 4, maybe back in the protagonist role (pointing to example of Phoenix Wright coming back as the main character in Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies whereas Apollo was supposed to be a successor kind of guy).

So much hype about Shulk is getting annoying. Shulk this, Shulk that plus him being included in every leak does not help the case! It is like every new leak is riding on the increase in Shulk's popularity since the Gematsu leak. His inclusion would be fine, but ditching Isaac over him does not resemble a completely sane choice. Isaac used to be as popular if not more than Shulk is and still holds popularity, we cannot say the same for Shulk 10 years after Xenoblade Chronicles.

Just kidding , this has been mentioned on the thread before as well. He could easily troll us by replacing Isaac's assist trophy with either Felix or Matthew and all fans might be disappointed. Then soon he would announce Isaac as a playable character . Don't think Matthew will be playable, Isaac has a better chance! Matthew will be fine but Isaac has been there since 2001. You can't just go uppity and replace the face of the franchise! And it would be even much longer waiting if nothing on Golden Sun is announced and we find Isaac as a secret character. Obviously that will still be a happier ending then him being assist trophy!

Isaac should be in Smash 4! Adding him to Project M would become even easier

I have absolutely no problem with Shulk, In fact, I wan't both of them in smash. I will happily main both characters. Just hoping for the best!

I've always kind of view the Shulk and Isacc groups kind of in the same way I view the K Rool and Ridley groups as most people that usually support one usually have some support for the other due to similarity in the situations.

I just noticed that Golden Sun was the only franchise in Brawl which had a track without having a playable character.
I guess that means Golden Sun was considered more important than other franchises which only had a AT in Brawl.
I just hope Sakurai thinks that Golden Sun is still important and included Isaac in Smash4.

That is true (though, not literally), especially since we had at least one character (R.O.B.) who had nothing in the game but was in it primarily due to the Subspace Emissary. Plus, Motoi Sakuraba, who did both the original tracks and the arranged, was one of the composers for Brawl.

Granted, this can still go either way, but with Ghirahim as another AT, the likely newcomers are starting to thin out, leaving only a few plausible choices.

So after reading some of the reactions to Ghirahim's recent disconfirmation, I'm rather curious now. How would you all react if Isaac, or anyone from the Golden Sun series, is found to not be playable at all?

I'll certainly be disappointed, but hopefully not as much as I would have been if I hadn't been telling myself Isaac had minimal chances in the first place. Though it doesn't help that he's likely a secret AT and he won't be shown as unplayable until the Japan 3DS release. As a result, I'll keep clinging to some hope that he's in and the ESRB leak is somehow false as well. I just hope that this hope I keep having won't just leave me even more disappointed in the end...

My reaction: ....No!...*sigh* Well, time to make an Isaac Mii to play as the swordsman. :/ (disappointing) Even though we'll be sad at least we won't blow up with hatred. You know who would get hurt the most out of any character deconfirmation if it does happen? Ridley fans. That is a time bomb ready to blow soon unless Sakurai comes and defuses it. It's scary, but would be fun to watch. No offense to Ridley fans out there. I would be glad if he does get in honestly. Be interesting how Sakurai made him playable.

Never knew about Shulk or Xenoblade till I kept hearing about his inclusion in all of these leaks. Still don't care if he gets in or not, but I do think he would fit in the roster very well honestly. Unlike most other characters out there. Still, Isaac is a much better choice for so many reasons that we all have already named. The roster would feel...empty without him. Our only hope that Little Mac was not the only AT that became a playable character and Isaac was chosen to be the second one.

All I'm hoping is that Sakurai is waiting for the right time to reveal him. There are other characters he wants to show off first to get everyone hyped for the game. Isaac being shown will only hype us fans, but our numbers are very little and dwindling. It wouldn't help the hype for Sm4sh, sad to say. We have to be patient my friends. The Dark Dawn is upon us now, but Isaac (or Matthew) will be the one who will rise the GoldenSun for us. Just like how Isaac thought he failed his task of stopping the lighthouses being lit, he discovers that it is the best way to save the world. Don't give up till Sakurai says so. Only he has the power to do so. No leak does...for now.
