is learning DR a "must" for playing a solid yoshi?

that's to say, to those who've learned it, do you use it very often and is it pivotal to your game? i just don't feel like putting the time in, unless it's something that's going to make me some kind of unstoppable force (or at the very least step my game up).

also, is it usable on wifi (with the lag, that is)?

In my opinion, although I haven't gotten DR down yet, you should learn every move even if situation, because the situation will come up and it can help you. It's the little stuff that makes people better.

:yoshi: It's just a tool. It's something to use to help you out.

I think it's possible to have a quite solid tournament Yoshi without implementing DR into your game. I want to say that, at least. However, I honestly feel that it has such a vibrant impact on Yoshi's spacing and traction that bolsters him into an entirely new playstyle. Actually, I guess because his playstyle becomes different, I suppose there can be plenty of Yoshi players who use it and plenty who don't; wow, I just learned that while I was typing this. GG me.

It's not needed, but it will help. Obviousely it's not gonna make you unstoppable, but it'll boost your game. Just try it out, you'll love it.

Yoshi is good without it but getting it down will definitely up your game. There are countless tricks and combos you can use the DR in and is a really effective defensive and kill move. I haven't perfected it yet but I can see all the different ways I would like to use it. K nuff, gotta go practice da DR!

Just another day.
Like Fingerpass said, you don't need it if you don't want to use it. However, it can add more mindgames and a few more tricks up your sleeve. While it is very though to learn (especially w/o tap jump), once as you understand the timing, it becomes an endurance depending on how much you want to use it. Hands can get slippery, you can rush the inputs (I do that alot still), and so on.
Really, I'm just starting to incorporate both the Superjump and trying to finish incorporating the DR. Just take like 10 mins to mess around with it. That's all you need for like once a day or every other day.

I incorporate it alot actually, it's a new key staple in my game. But it's up to if you want to use it.

I find I use it better in lag now, since you can pull it off w/o them expecting it, imo.
