Is it bad to have so many mains?

I'd say drop one more into your secondary and then have at the lab and tournaments and other players. Make sure to record and study your matches, ask for advice, watch other mains of your characters, etc. and I'm sure you'll see vast improvement in the next few months.
Alrighty then! Thank you! (Though I don't think I'll drop one main into the secondaries :/ )

Nothing wrong with pocketing the entire cast, I like doing it myself and I feel I'm at a point where I can use about half of them in a competitive setting and do well enough to hold my ground. I find sticking to one or maybe two characters for too long very boring, so I'm always switching around every other match or so. Being good with most, if not, all characters, understanding their styles and what they do best is also really great MU knowledge to have.

I main Samus, second Link and Snake, and pretty much everyone else I enjoy using and understand fairly well, except Diddy, Pit, Peach, Pikachu, IC's, Yoshi, and Olimar. Gotta invest some more time with those seven.

Currently I main: :marth::roypm::ike::bowser2::toonlink::mewtwopm::sonic::lucario::charizard::dk2::ganondorf::dedede::peach::snake::mario2:
And I'm looking into::luigi2::sheik::warioc::metaknight::kirby2::yoshi2::squirtle:

Is that bad?
If you wanna become super good and win tournaments it's not a good choice.
If you just wanna play the game and do not care about results, than why not.

To become a tournament threat you need to have at least one SUPER good char. Spendning your time with so many diffrent ones will make this take a lot longer time.

You should focus on 1 char or at most 2 chars in the begining. Counterpicks etc becomes more necessary at very high level.

Am I the only one freaking out because Armada just commented on my thread?

Hahahahahaha

In the interest of adding something constructive, I advise thusly:

Put one of Marth and Roy in your back pocket. It's a Fox/Falco situation in which tech skills from one character will transfer over to the other (similar grab game, wavedash, DACUS etc.) However, the spacing and physics for each character's moves is pretty different. Find the one you're more comfortable with and focus on him, while keeping the other guy in your secondary list for a rainy match-up. Take comfort in the fact that a large part of Marth tech will transfer to Roy and vice versa, while remembering to sharpen each character's unique tools for when you play them. For some examples, Roy's bair is more of a kill tool than an edgeguard tool, and so he benefits more from RAR than Marth and can't do ledgedrop bairs with quite the same coverage. His Double-Edge Dance is also more useful to his game than Marth's Dancing Blade is to his, while Marth has the superior grab game and so you'll have to work out different throw combos for Roy. Etc. Should help you cope with the character bloat a little.

Ike is different enough and covers Marth's/Roy's matchups fairly well in my experience. Remember that Marth will have an easier time than Ike/Roy v/s Spacies, and projectile users in general due to his swatting fair. Zero Suit's unclankable charge shot is something to watch out for with all three characters though.

Well, Marth has been my go to since Melee, but Bowser is just a pure cannon of power for me.

I would say take out roy or marth to use as secondary, as well as take out ike or bowser. That would take you down to two for tournaments until you get a really solid grasp on them.
What do you mean? Just main one and second the others?

The metagame is new and so are the updates to this game. Once an Ivysaur and Zelda main, I now play Lucas, Mewtwo and Snake. I've just been exploring the whole cast and having so much fun. I don't plan on committing to a main for a very long time.

I dont think its "Bad" to main alot of characters at once. It does however, become a challenge because you have to constantly switch between many different styles of play. Most people generally stay at about 3-4 characters at once.

I know the feeling bro, so many characters look interesting and they all deserve to be played. Screw you PMBR, can't you make that game a little worse please ?
But you have to make sacrifices if you want to be good, unfortunately.

I have a pocket Roy and ZSS, which I could play all week long if I let myself because I love them so much, but I'll only ever use Ivysaur in tourneys.

I strongly believe the metagame, given time to develop, will reach a point where rotating between 2/3 characters is not only viable, but advisable.

Beyond 3 is pushing it, though.

I guess, I need different play-styles to keep myself active and busy, I think I can manage four. And two of them are very similar.

They are similar, but the intricacies of the individual characters are different. Someone that mains a single characters will know the ins and outs of that character, and that can give them a clear advantage over you. That kind of knowledge is invaluable. Slow and steady wins the race. It's fun to play four characters and you should continue to play for fun, but you should focus on having one main. You will become a better player that way.

I know how Marth and Roy are different. It's just I need to spread my focus a bit. It works well for me.

So, If I was better at Sonic but want to be better at Roy (Still Not Horrible with him.), I should go with who I am better with right now anyway?

I would personally spend time on the character that you want to be better with more.
