Interesting (to me at least) stuff about reserving Brawl

I don't care if most people think this is a waste of time, but I want to hear how many people are reserving Brawl, and how many are camping out in front of EB Games or whatever to get it.

Funny story on reserving, I was at GameStop today, reserving Brawl, and I glance at the Wii game shelf. What met my well-trained eye first was the box for Brawl. Naturally, my brain exploded. I thought I missed an early-release update on the dojo (because I haven't been checking it, there aren't any updates), but then I saw a little box on the box that had the words "Coming Soon" on it. It was like hearing the game was delayed again for me. Just wanted to share that lil story with y'all.

What I found was interesting is the last time I went into gamestop and traded in games they let me pay Brawl off. I didn't even know if they knew it would be 49.99 orwhat, but they did. Now I just have to walk in and grab it

Preordered it off Amazon. I apparently may have to wait about a week after the initial release, but that's nothing compared to what we've been through now.

I went to pre-order the game and the guy who was doing it went on to tell me that me that Gamestop has more BRAWL pre-orders than Halo 3. And that more pre-orders for Brawl were made than wii's out there. and that they will have enough SSBB copies for everyone who pre-ordered.

o_o;; great I guess

I did it here in Sweden a while ago.

Considering that the game has been seriously delayed (Honestly, this is pissing me off! >_<), however, I could have just as well pre-ordered it a lot later. :/

When I went to reserve brawl at gaymestop, The cashier aka Gayme Expertz suggested I also "pick up a gamecube controller if I want a true leet melee experience for brawl". I lol'd, *facepalmed*, did objection pose, showed him a picture of a sad kitten, then gave him the money for the reservation.

ok so I did exaggerate a bit, but I really dislike gamestop workers.

That sort of happend to me, but when I went to buy Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii the guy said," I don't think Guitar Hero comes out for the Wii." That was when it was out for like a month already! I was like in my mind," Man your an ediot! I can do a better freaking job than you and I'm like seven years younger than you!"

This was during the time I already pre-ordered Brawl. I went to go buy another game at the same place. I ended up being $5 short on accident to buy it. They said "You can remove your pre-order and add $5 to your account". I did it.

I almost cried when I heard that pre-orders get theirs first and had more priority. Took about 2 months to get spare money going to get the pre-order again...

I preordered it off of Amazon as well. I may get it a week later than some people, but at least I'm guaranteed a copy!

Yeah, I saw a Brawl box at my local Gamestop too just recently. It had a marking on it saying "Coming 2/10." And since only a fool would take that as being October 2nd rather than February 10th, I'm sure there's no reason to worry. Then again, there's no reason to get excited for an early release, either....

Anyway, I reserved a copy back when the game was still slated for December 3rd. It was awhile ago, even before Metroid Prime 3 came out. No worries. My copy will be waiting for me on the 10th.

Preordering is for the weak, i'll hunt the game on Feb 11, if i can't find it, well, though luck.

I reserved my copy about 3-4 months ago. I'm paying it off the next day I don't work, which will probably be tomorrow (depends on if this girl wants me to work for her).

I took off work Feb. 9th and 10th. I'm going to get to Gamestop about half an hour before midnight and wait there with a buddy of mine, who's also picking up his copy. Afterwards, we're heading to my house to play until about 5 AM.

**** I'm excited.

I personally don't want to have to wait a day or more longer than I have to, so no I won't be preordering it. Just showing up early to any major retailer is the better bet. If you've tried to get any major or minor first party release in the past year on the release day you know gamestop/EB are usually at least 1 day slower than major retailers. It's easy as crap to pick up games, they're not consoles.

I preordered it, but only put the minimum 5$ down on it. I do that at gamespot just in case I can get the copy at a midnight launch elsewhere, and if I can, I cancel my preorder. If I can't, I still get the game when Gamestop opens the next day.

I did it with Twilight Princess, then waited in line for a Wii and the game at Wal Mart. I managed to get a Wii, but they only had like 10 copies of Zelda, and I was 22nd in line. So I played Wii Sports all night, then got Zelda the next day at gamestop.

But a quick question, why camp out when you've already preordered it? You're guaranteed a copy, and if they don't get enough shipments for the game to fill preorders, they tell you.

I preordered mine and I asked if they are having a midnight release and the dude doesn't know. They should though. I know 5 of my friends preordered at the same Gamestop, and I'm sure us 6 weren't the only ones.

My point is they better do it, because that Gamestop doesn't open until 10 in the morning.

If my Gamestop doesn't have a midnight release, then I guess I will pick it up in the morning and play all Sunday, then possibly not go to school Monday.

I am planning to reserve the game tomorrow, and am also planning to camp out in front of my local gamestop store to buy the game as soo as I can!

@KaptKRool: even if the people who preordered it are guaranteed a copy, people camp out for it so that they can get the game as soon as possible!(Like me!) the game is gonna be just too awesome to wait any longer for!

@Coselm: I did the same thing but the dude I was talking to told me in order for them to hold a midnight release, it will depend on how many reservations they get for the game! he told me to start telling all my friends to reserve the game if they really want a midnight release(I want it to happen also)

I see what you mean, when I went to the GH3 midnight launch (which I had preordered), I had to wait in line for about 20 minutes, because I showed up at about 11:50. But still, if you're guaranteed a copy, I wouldn't see waiting in line for a few minutes that big of a deal that you would have to camp out.

The only reason I would camp out for something is to guarantee my copy, which I did with a Wii. But if you know you're getting the game, unless you absolutely must play it within seconds of it being February 10th, I don't see much point in camping out for a game you're guaranteed to get at midnight-ish.

Unless our definitions of camping out differ. I'd consider camping out as waiting for more than 2 hours and bringing something to sit on. When I camped out for the Wii, I waited 6 hours, had a chair, a bunch of blankets (it was snowing, and they made us wait outside of the wal mart), and my DS. But when I waited in line for GH3, I showed up and got in line, stood there for about 30 minutes, and got it.

Just preordered it at Circuit City a while ago, and they have a $10 gift card deal that comes with picking up the game. :)

I waited until the end of '07 to preorder from gamestop and got free overnight shipping. The site still says it ships on the 10th, which everybody here knows is a Sunday. I wonder when I'll get mine. :ohwell:

Only a fool, or a european.

While we're bragging about who reserved what when, my gamestop recept is dated 8/1/07. I'll have had it reserved for over half a year.

i'm not camping out but i'm waking up 2 hours before the gamestop opens to wait out front. The guy at my gamestop said nintendo usually didn't send them games for a midnight thing, and to not get my hopes up for a midnight party thing.

craziest weekend of my life:
fri, Feb 8: my birthday
sat, Feb 9: take the ACT
sun, Feb 10: BRAWL

I'm planning on going to my local Target/Best Buy/Walmart stores to get Brawl and hope they have it. Else, I go to GameStop or Gamecrazy but I think more people will show up in those two.

However, if the pre-orders being greater than Halo 3 are true, should I reserve a copy on GameStop (or pre-order it) instead?

I preordered Brawl in two places X_X

Well, not me personally. I made my Brawl AND Galaxy Preorders at one store, and then my mom accidentally reserved Brawl at another (Closer) Gamestop!

Got mine at Best Buy before Thanksgiving break. I don't think it'll be delivered until the week of the release so I am most likely playing it on February 15 after coming home from school.

Pre-ordered it at GameStop in August. They had a over 200 person line for Halo 3 (for the midnight release), and they said they expect well over 50 people waiting for Brawl at midnight. Ya, they'll be selling the game at midnight, and I can't wait. I get it DEAD on Febuary 10th, and I'll spend all that Sunday pwning the Subspace Emissary, then I'll try everyone out and select a few mains, and then it'll be MAXIMUM SCRUB ROASTING TIME! O, and from what we know, pre-ordering is better. The game could possibly be $60, lol (hell, if I was Nintendo now I'd seel SMG for $60). ^_^

As for camping out, I'll probably pick a ride with my friends and wait. It'll be great=getting the game at 12 in the morning, and going STRAIGHT HOME and doing everything within 12 hours. Sleep is for the weak.. :)

I reserved my copy (according to my receipt) on August 10th, boy, I didn't realize I reserved it that early... looking back Brawl wasn't very far off from releasing. Ah well, all I can do is hope that I get the game on Sunday or can get it Midnight (doubtful).

confirmed. Sending supplies.
I had just come back from vacation during the summer (it had gotten back the day before), and went to the mall to get Harry Potter 7 and do other stuff. I went to GameStop and checked out some demos. I had some conversation with the manager (forgot what), and I said I'm just waiting until they allowed SSBB pre-orders. He then said they just started, so I instantly whipped out $5 and reserved my copy. Pre-ordered on July 28, 2007.

I'll preorder mine a week from now. Considering that I'll be at school when it's released, I might as well reserve it while I'm in the area so I can get it then rather than wait until the next break (or have it mailed). My only concern: I am still Wii-less :p

Luckily, I can accumulate money fast with my two jobs on campus. That and Wii shipments happen like... the end of the month. So if I'm smart, it'll all work out. ...right? XD

Around here people think shooters have a lot more depth than fighters, and that only kids really play any fighters...

Bad for competition, but hell, im getting the copy easily..

I still haven't pre-ordered it yet...I probably won' t be able to pick it up on the 10th so my brother is going to pay for the express shipping on Best Buy for my pre-order :p. It would arrive on the 13th of February.
