The paintbrush is so cool. I hope to god this weapon doesn't suck in Splatoon.

It's gonna be a more agile Paint Roller that focuses more on combat than ink covering. It's got potential but I fear that it trading speed for power may be its downfall.

You want people to cry OP? The thing is basically a "sword spear", the ******** and whining would be immense, especially if it has the range as advertised in game.

In the context of Splatoon, I think trading a bit of power/ink coverage for more speed might not be a bad thing. Roller is a nice weapon but it is a little bit slow, which can often put roller players in a bad position against ranged weapon players.

In the context of Smash, I would put roller as Inkling's down smash and the brush as their jab combo, as you suggested.

It looks like a fast roller with better range so I'll try it out even though i'm way better with the Splattershot.

From the demo weapons I am better with the roller, but I am hoping to find 'my' weapon among the ones I haven't played it yet. This weapon in particular seems like a good pick if I decide to play ranged.

My friends really like using Sniper in any shooter while I'm more run 'n gun,. I'm urging them not to pick Charger cause the main focus is covering the map with ink, I know the Charger can spray ink but I don't want to team with my friends if all 3 are gonna be using the Charger, ya think I'm pushing them too hard? (Also I'm going to the Mess Fest today after school Yuuusss)

I think you should let your friends pick whatever weapon they want. I mean, picking your favorite/preferred weapon is part of the fun.

You're right, i should just let my friends pick what they want, regardless if I don't like it or not. They're not having fun if I don't let them.

So yeah, I've decided that Inkling is my most wanted newcomer for Smash 4 DLC now. I can already tell from how fun the testfire was, that I'm going to love this game and I'd rather not wait 4-5 years for a character I already know deserves to be in.
Also because apparently supporting the characters I want to is a pointless effort and I might as well just give up. So I am.

I really doubt that. Especially on release. That implies even bigger than Zelda. With the exclusion of VC that brought it down from, "miracle required" to "impossible."

Am I advocating that it needs VC to be a good game? No. But if you are expecting it to be the next Pokemon then it needs VC. Otherwise, there are way too many haters for that to be possible.

I just need enough support for them to make it into smash.

With how much people are clamoring over playing the DEMO for the game, it will likely be Hyrule Warriors tier if not greater.

And all things considered, that's around top 5 Wii U games in terms of sales. Considering this is a brand new IP that'd be WONDERFUl. (RIP W-101)

Inklings as characters are a runaway success the likes of which I haven't seen from Nintendo since like Pokemon or something. It's just a universally loved concept despite a few jaded net types saying otherwise. My sisters are passively active gamers (they'll watch me and my brother play things but hardly ever play much themselves post N64) and they've all been asking when we're clearing time to play Splatoon after last year's E3 showing. My two youngest sisters have even done fan art.

Not with the Wii U's install base. That would require the game more than tripling the Wii U's install base by itself and all Wii U owners owning said game. It taking off would more likely mean doing 2-2.5 million like what the original Animal Crossing did, and even that's no guarantee with an install base of only around 10 million. Matching Smash 64's 5 million copies sold would be ludicrously successful, and that's probably the absolute max you can hope for. Pokemon Gen 1 sold over 30 million copies, more than 6 times more than MK8, the currently best-selling Wii U game. Nintendo right now doesn't have the mainstream appeal to get that level of sales on its current generation of hardware.

So i'm back from the Mess Fest and it was fun, instead of the testfire maps the only map was Blackbelly Skatepark, weapon selection was random and they gave us free T-shirts (the girl at the right is wearing the one they gave us)

First Super Mario, then Legend of Zelda, and now Splatoon? At this point, it wouldn't too far fetched to say that this will wind up being the "new Animal Crossing" of this generation.

The Inkling Boy is the main guy on the cover ... I don't read lot of Manga but i don't like him being the main character mainly because the Inkling Girl is the one they market so much.

If you look at the bottom left of that cover, that's /volume-or-chapter 7/ that he's on the cover of.

The Inkling would be really cool and unique in Smash Bros. They could shoot the ink and go through it, and the only way to hit them would be to use a down attack. But you could also use ink to swim up walls and recover, launch someone and then use ink the catch up to them... it just seems really cool.

I too thought if the Inkling were to be in Smash it would be the Inkling girl to be the default because as you said that's the one we're probably the most famliar with at this point in time. If there is a Magna in the works for Splatoon or something I'd also would like for the girl to be the main character. Especially since she's the first one we'd usually see and promote Splatoon with.

Yeah, at worst it would lead to stalling, which could be an issue.
There needs to be some sort of way they're vulnerable as a squid.

Yeah, I don't know why people were angsty about not having voice chat in this game. I know shooters usually have this feature but it's really optional in most of them. I'm probably in the minority of glad for not having voice chat. Glad that I don't have to waste my time talking to a jerk of a "teammate" that I'd be distracted because of focusing on the game instead of talking.
