Ok, that was amazing fun. I want to play aggggggggaaain! <3

Chargers seem to have a problem with rollers though. But there coverage of areas are good and does provide a nice path for team.

The standard charger is going to be meh compared to other versions though.

Game of the year already. Batmans, Witchers and Xenoblades got nothing on Splatoon.

My only worry about the miis getting Splatoon costumes is how closely their anatomy resembles the inklings. The other costumes that resemble other fighters aren't bad due to VERY different body proportions. However, miis and inklings are quite similar. even giving the miis the splattershot is a bit worrisome. However, I'm not giving up hope. Inklings are way too amazing to not be in smash. New ip, new character designs, new gameplay. Calls for inklings into smash if u ask me

On another note, loving the demo thus far. Is it wierd that I cant stand the motion controls? Anyways, I've loving the splat roller, assassin-like gameplay is so fun!

After an hour of inking the Walleye Warehouse, I have to say - It's amazing, de geso! Looking forward to the full game! :bee:
What's your preferred style? Splattershot, Charge or Roller?

OMGTHATWASAWESOME.

Sorry.
Anyway that is the most blissful gaming experience I've had in a year. I'm so happy right now.
Charge/Rifle is definitely my favorite weapon. Firing ahead to cover an area with ink, swimming through that ink path then firing again to cover MORE area is sooo fun and satisfying as hell.

Well that was fun! Thank goodness, I was worried... I was hype, then heard some things like you don't have that many options online and with your friends, but whatever, I'll probably still get it...maybe... might hold off a lil bit and see what people say.

Tried all the weapons and yeah, that snipey thing, I was awful at it, but the Splat Roller is so good even a shooter newb like me did pretty well! I actually won a lot! Got a lot of kills! Got killed myself, but wasn't too rage-inducing. Just once when I teleported to a team mate after getting killed and died on landing haha.

I was also worried that, while the Inklings moveset potential is abundant and unique, the character herself lacks personality... But after playing, aw she's adorable! That fang-filled smile would be a perfect win pose after a match! I kept playing and applying her to smash bros haha, like seeing the splat roller I was like "Oh, side-b of course" those triangle bomb things "Down-B" etc etc

The personality is there! Very punk, get outta my way, territorial, sore loser kinda character, and I love it, we don't really have that in smash yet! :D Now instead of being kinda supportive, I really really wanna see her make it!

Edit: Oh yeah - and NO LAG?? Wow! Very impressive and thank goshdarn goodness! I was playing with french and japanese people with no issues! Only once did a match get disconnected but I think someone just rage quit or simply had to leave?

Well that was an amazing hour.

Roller might be a lil ridiculous. "Backcapping" can be very powerful when the whole level is a control point.

I need more:demon:

Roller is so far my favorite. Baiting people into approaching you while you've stopped painting (so they think that you retraced your steps or died or something) and whacking them when they turn the corner is so much fun~

The demo was a ton of fun. I'll be waking myself up in the morning just to play it again.

That was very fun. I can only really play with the Paint Roller due to my lack of shooter skills, but I feel like I'm picking up on the skills needed to use it well, as it's important to keep an eye on where the enemy is since you're dead if you run into anyone with a gun if you don't sneak up on them. I try to check the Gamepad to figure out where the enemy likely is whenever I'm recharging my ink.

The demo was really fun and all but man, the warehouse stage is get soooo one sided! As soon a team covered up from their base to the middle, it's an automatic win.

First post on the thread:
Man, I had a blast with the Demo! It was a new meaning of amazing to me! So awesome, so innovative, so frantic! Everything went smooth, gameplay and connection! The weapons are all incredible fun and creative! With both stronger and weak points (yeah, even the Roller =P);

just amazing!.. It's a pity that I won't be able to join the other matches (bad hours for me; =\)... I hope that Nintendo opens the Demo one more weekend for us before the game release, though!...

This game is definitely a Day One! *(Day Zero if I could =P);
I'm now more than hyped by the Inklings in Smash.. XD;

(and I need to sleep, since the Demo closed, I couldn't contain my excitement; XD.. but is 3AM on my Timezone, Gotta go!)

That demo left me glad I preordered, it was tons of fun. It also left me craving more, hopefully I can get into the later testfire tomorrow.

So how do you guys think Inklings would work mechanics wise?

I feel like their ink would not splatter the opponents, just damage them, but their ink gauge plays a great role. They could have a special that would regather their ink (rather than their squid form regaining it; the squid would only allow them to go faster and go through opponents). That way its advised that they don't spray their ink off the stage otherwise its wasted and they can't regather it

Interesting, I was imagining Inklings having unlimited ink but it disappears after some time. And many attacks would plant ink, but the ink itself doesnt cause any damage or knockback when an opponent stands on it. But you plant the ink strategically to teleport, hide shortly, all that jazz.

Having a limited supply seems more fun as it wouldn't disappear and you could really gain stage control by claiming your territory. But having ya run out of ink permanently after some time seems to harsh. Have the ability to get it back quick by hiding in the ink, but the hiding move will be quite punishable.

If Inklings could cover part of the stage in ink and then quickly swim through it that would be give Inkling so many possibilities in Smash Bros.
Imagine, launching an opponent flying to the right, then quickly swimming to where they'll be then finishing them with another Smash attack. God, that would feel sooo good to pull off. :chuckle:

I would also like Squid Superjump to be their Up Special, and it's a multi-hitting move that could be used to stage spike people.
