Harden in truth can only be used 6 times unless something brings its defense down. At that point, metapod's defense will be 4 times stronger, but definately not invincible. Considering metapod's horrible stats, it would just delay the inevitable defeat as its only attack (tackle if learned as caterpie) will barely make a dent when supported by metapod's pitiful attack power.

no johns, pikachu needs a frikin ball to be as good as raichu. screw that, im talkin just the raw pokemon.

Well duh dugtrio ***** it. Dugtrio's ground type trumps pikachu with devastating results. If somehow the dugtrio was slower than pikachu (unlikely), pikachu would pretty much have to have surf to win.
