- Get as much friendlies as you can... fighting different people can help you get better.
- Don't worry about losing, it's just game.
- Just have fun.

Thats basically it. lol.

Edit: also have all of your advanced tech down because everyone else can do it too, not just the pros. if you dont have a real life training partner get 1

Play a bunch of friendlies with the other players there before the tournament actually starts. This way, you can get more matches in while you're there and get to know the crowd. Also, don't be worried if you get your *** kicked, the tournament scene produces some of the most skilled players, you'll learn a lot from them.

go to local tournaments first. you will learn tricks, combos, etc., and most importantly you will get experience. As you start to win these go to national tournaments. make as many friends as you can to.

I am planning to join a tournament myself, and though I expect to not do too great, could anyone give a round-a-bout price guide, that way I know how much to set back? In US Dollars, please.

Try your best to win, but expect to lose your first couple times. It isn't a bad thing to lose, just a learning experience.

Have fun. Talk to people, make friends, play the game (friendlies!!), eat snacks. Don't get yourself under bad pressure. This is really important.

Train beforehand, especially if your character of choice is easily pwnable. Consider using a better-suited character such as Snake or Metaknight.

That's all I can think of right now :ohwell:

thanks. i noticed a lot of people suggest certian characters if they wanna place high. that is kinda unfortunate cuz id rather see people encouraging doing best w/ the character u choose, (not that anyone directly suggested that) but its almost discouraging to some people when they see that snakes and metaknights are like the only people w/ chances and they "have" to drop their mains to do well... its ok tho, cuz im sticking w/ my mains and yeah, i am expecting to get my *** handed to me in competition (i main link and ike, but id say im good w/ them). anyway, thanks again for the insight
