With the U.S. release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii only a day away, my hopes are getting high and my fears getting higher. I regret ever installing the Homebrew Channel, no matter what you HAXX0RZ say. Anyway, NSMB Wii will probably force me to update.

So, I have a plan: I delete Homebrew, remove the SD Card and remove my Gamecube memory cards.

I also read this:

The Wii Update changes boot2 to boot2v4 (or something like that), and it was a risky move for Nintendo. Every Wii is at an equal risk for bricking because of the boot2 update. Having Homebrew does not increase or decrease those chances.

So is that true? Will deleting Homebrew make the update less suspicious? If I delete Homebrew, will I feel safer? What is the exact value of Pi? (lolwut?) Any help that is real help (and not flame or spam) would be appreciated.

P.S. What REALLY sucks is that I only enjoyed the hacks for August-September of the same year. I use them no more, so I basically payed $15 to give me a heart attack, break my SSBB music and hurt some aspects of my Wii.

A hack. It's a thing that you can find mentioned everywhere in the Smash Workshop area.

I thought only consoles with hardware mods were at a greater risk of bricking?

Pure Wiis are just as susceptible to bricking from the update as modded ones.

You should have asked in the smash workshop.

Removing the update partition from game isos with Brickblocker should be standard practice if you're playing backups.

What in the world is bricking now?
It's what happens when your Wii becomes a shiny white brick (Or has the functionality of one, at least)

At any rate, there are ways to upgrade safely or just play the game without updating at all - check out the Smash Workshop (Subforum of General Brawl Discussion)

Just remove your Homebrew Channel. It's pretty pointless to have anyways, unless you are into one of the alterations of Brawl. You can just reinstall it later. It's gonna get removed either way though.

I removed mine because if they don't find the traces of homebrew then they can't do a thing. If you have pirated games though then you probably deserve it anyways.

Don't updated unless you have Homebrew uninstalled though. Don't even think about it. I'm pretty sure they won't repair it if they find it on there, so yah.
