Smash Lord
As someone who enjoyed Brawl, I am ashamed that someone like him is supporting it.
That is all. :|

Sorry, let me iterate.I haven't played smash more than an average of once per few months this year.
That doesn't mean anything.
That makes more sense, I think.Sorry, let me iterate.
Play once in a spam of 3 months and not be involved with anything Smash related other than E3 and other public displays.
I prefer games that give me the opportunity to safely practice dealing with a flawed, unfair world and an even more flawed, fallible person (myself) than games that work to provide a perfect fantasy where I have total control and predictability.
What if that was his plan all along?Looks like we found the one thing the whole community can hate.
The quiet majority probably wouldn't mind seeing tripping gone. How dare someone like a mechanic that the small vocal part of the Smash Bros fandom seem to hate!!
Disclaimer: I am glad tripping is gone.
So...this guy...is a hero?"Stopping mid-fight to fall on your butt is WAY better than being able to use normal attacks while sliding! Brawl is only hated because of those gosh darn MELEE PLAYERS".
And thus, the walls separating the community fell for a short period. Harmony was achieved.
Nah, but we've stopped bickering to track down this guy and make him l-cancel 'till his eyes bleed.So...this guy...is a hero?
Nah, but we've stopped bickering to track down this guy and make him l-cancel 'till his eyes bleed.
Then we revert to the old ways.
Sounds like 9/11 all over againNah, but we've stopped bickering to track down this guy and make him l-cancel 'till his eyes bleed.
Then we revert to the old ways.
Thank you so much.http://pastebin.com/66vYrHrJ
No more giving clicks. Such stupidity should not earn him any cash at all. Just mockery.
Fixed that for you.How dare someone like a mechanic that the majority of the Smash Bros fandom seem to hate!!
Very much disagreed. The only way a community can grow is through appreciating each others differences, not their similarities.Agreed. Don't bring this here.
His article is for anyone on the whole wide internet to read, just as these forums are. Given that, this is hardly "gossip". In the same vein you could say his article is "gossip" on the Smash community.Very much disagreed. The only way a community can grow is through appreciating each others differences, not their similarities.
Anyway, it's Destructoid. They're a mainstream game journalism site who don't look at games as a work of art, but as something that they as journalists should just comfort the reader in buying. They help the lowest common denominator make choices in their purchasing habits. They are not obsessed with how mechanics influence gameplay because they simply do not have the time to do so. Everything's gotta go fast and that's why uninformed journalists are present in nearly every news outlet.
The author seems misinformed, but he also seems glad to remain in the dark. The creepy amount of knowledge you guys have about this game, has no use to him. He enjoys a bit of the random elements because it's slightly funny to him. I wouldn't call him out personally, since he's just a writer who casually enjoys games. You need to put yourself in his shoes and realize that not everyone has the time to devote this much to a single game.
The fact this got featured on a major gaming news site, though, is severely dumb. It's also not something we can fix in a single thread; there have been thesis's on the state of journalism, trying to figure our what went wrong. Not just gaming, but even more-so regular news sites have been dreadful for so long, any author can spout their mindfart and be called a journalist. It's what's wrong in the bigger picture.
If you truly want to help out, contact the author of that article with a polite counterargument. Get a discussion going, don't gossip behind his back. No-one is served with that.
Not in this thread.Very much disagreed. The only way a community can grow is through appreciating each others differences, not their similarities.
Tripping battles. They can be the next coin battle mode. (i.e. one that no one actually plays)You know what would be acceptable? An on/off option for tripping. THAT would be great to see.
Well if you're gonna make Nintendo all stars fight each other they have to look kawaii while doing it!Maybe the author watched too much anime and believes that tripping is cute.
It actually was really bad. On paper and in the game.Tripping is not that bad really, But on paper is sounds bad.
If somehow we ever play together, I'll do it for you.I kinda miss those days...
If I were to put myself in his shoes, I probably wouldn't make an article that would come out as "ignorant" or "flawed" because of my lack of knowledge on the subject. You need to put yourself in his shoes and realize that not everyone has the time to devote this much to a single game.
