Okay, so I'm a third year in college in a premed/PA (physician's assistant) program. They said to apply to the program at the end of my third year. Well today, I got an email about the PA track. There they told me the online application (CAPSA) was due November 1st. Okay, I have time. Well, it turns out there's a 6 week processing time... I haven't started cause they **** staff at my college told me to apply at the end of 3rd year... I'm Boned.
You need 2 recommendations along with the application to be considered in the program. I know an english professor really well, but I need one more. Plus they want professors of sciences to do the recommendations... It shouldn't matter since my grades reflect my understanding. A recommendation just shows how the professors know me as a person, not just a student. Anyway... I'm Boned.
1,400 apply to the program. There are 60 seats. The program is at my school and 13 students from my school got in last year... I'm Boned.
At the PA meeting there were ~10 students there. All of them shadowed a PA. I shadowed an anesthesiologist. The Dean of the program basically said I didn't matter and that they want PA shadowers. I'm Boned.
I wanted to be a doctor, but I haven't reviewed my courses from 1st year till now. So I don't know how well I'd do on the MCAT. Surely taking the MCATs must be difficult. But to start reviewing now and keeping up my GPA with course work? I'm Boned.
tl;dr - my schools sucks at helping students + I'm boned.
God, I hope I can fix this mess. Well, if you don't mind, I think I'm going to shoot myself in the face now.
